The myth of botched executions
Washington Times, by Judson Phillips

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 7/27/2014 2:09:51 PM

On Wednesday, the State of Arizona executed Joseph Wood. The left wing media immediately jumped on the case, calling it a “botched execution.” To begin with, the execution wasn’t botched. He’s dead, isn’t he? Wood was convicted of two counts of first degree ,urder. The murders occurred in 1989. Wood was convicted and sentenced to death in 1991. He spent 23 years on death row while tax payer funded lawyers cranked out every strategy possible to stop or delay his execution. The botching was not the execution. The botching was that it took 23 years. There was never any doubt about Wood’s guilt. He killed the father of his ex-girlfriend

Comments:
While the length of time between conviction and execution is absurd, dead is dead. Why not do what the Muslims do and behead the perp? While distasteful, we´ve all seen it done on some cheesy horror TV series or flick. Most female actresses get their stripes playing in these slasher flicks. Truth is, lawyers play for time, because time is money for them. As long as society continues to act this way, police will be killed needlessly on the streets and our military , like Israel, will suffer from the "rules of engagement" that swing in favor of the antagonizer.

Finally!!! Someone with the guts and soapbox to go after this myth. This liberal concoction. When they couldn´t get our hearts to bleed over the entire issue of capital punishment - the death penalty - they had to nibble it to pieces and prolong the time it took for those convicted of heinous crimes to finally have their sentence meted out and justice served.

FTA:

The problem with the death penalty in America is that liberals have taken a system that worked, broke it and then claimed the system is so broken it must be abolished. This is sort of like Barack Obama’s approach to immigration.

YES!!!!

I have posted about this before, based upon descriptions from reliable sources about how the injection process works.

The real outrage with executions is not that a convicted murderer like Joseph Wood may have suffered some discomfort. According to the State of Arizona he was sedated the whole time so he would not have felt anything.

The first injection renders these killers unconscious so that they will feel nothing. Then one or two other injections are given in order to stop the heart.

Sniffs, snorts, sounds, muscle spasms mean absolutely nothing. Those who die of natural causes can make sounds and have spasms. They are still dead - these involuntary post-mortem actions are just that. Involuntary.

Simple, firing squad:
8 sharpshooters, 4 with live 5.56 mm ammo, 4 bullets into the heart would cease life functions immediately with no pain.
The deceased probably doesn´t hear the gun shot.

The solution is simple: have the lawyers who make the laws amend them so multiple, costly, frivolous appeals no longer burden the judicial system and enrich fellow lawyers.

If there were actually such a thing as a life sentence with no parole, discussions about abolishing the death penalty could be worth having.

As a side note, the surviving sister and her husband were interviewed on FOX. They attended the execution, and claim the reporting is horribly inaccurate. The criminal fell asleep immediately, and made sounds typical of someone in that state.

It´s about time for some compassion for the innocent victims and their families. And I´ll also add to that the good family members of the criminal, who may likely lived horrors of their own because of the perp, including terrible guilt over what he/she did.

The Muslim Brotherhood’s top official Mohamed Badie and 14 others were sentenced to life in jail today on charges of murder and inciting violence during a protest near Cairo last year. The court session had been designated for witness statements to be heard but the judge issued a verdict. Badie, the general guide of the Brotherhood, is among hundreds of the group’s members who were sentenced to death in mass trials this year, which drew criticism from Western governments and human rights groups. The death sentences are subject to appeal. In what is known as the Bahr al-Azam case, Badie and the other defendants were convicted of

Judge: Lawsuit in Petraeus
scandal can proceed

Washington - A federal judge ruled Monday that a Tampa, Florida, woman can pursue her lawsuit alleging that the government invaded her privacy in the scandal over former CIA director David Petraeus. U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson said Jill Kelley can press her claim that the FBI and Defense Department violated her privacy when officials allegedly leaked information about her to the news media. The ruling does not deal with the merits of the case, but as the lawsuit proceeds, it could reveal more about the role various government agencies played as the scandal unfolded two years ago.

On the 13th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, President Obama used the occasion last week to remind Americans that “our combat mission in Afghanistan will come to an end” in three months. But the cost to U.S. taxpayers for reconstruction in Afghanistan will continue. The U.S. has spent $104 billion to rebuild Afghanistan’s security forces, infrastructure, economy, and health care and education sectors. America is spending more on the effort this year alone than it’s spending on foreign assistance for Israel, Iraq, Egypt and Pakistan combined, said John Sopko, special inspector general for Afghanistan reconstruction.

It saddens me that 20 years after my sister Nicole’s murder, we are still seeing the same crimes, just different names, over and over again. The Ray Rice case reflects our misunderstanding of what domestic violence is, and the Oscar Pistorius case reminds me so much of what happened to Nicole: victims defending their partners, and batterers blaming the victim. What is most chilling to me about what I have seen in the coverage of Ray Rice is that he has not atoned for his actions; he seems more concerned with how he is now viewed. And it’s Janay Palmer who is apologizing for her part of being knocked out cold.

The announcement that he would delay his immigration initiative until after the election and his formal announcement that the United States would take military action against the Islamic State could have been coerced. Maybe Democratic leaders in Congress and a few members of the Obama team have had it. Could it be that, after President Obama briefed Democrats in Congress on the immigration plan, they balked?
