Frustrated Pilots: Limits on
Firing Endanger Our Comrades

Arutz Sheva [Israel], by Gil Ronen

Reports in Israeli media cite IAF pilots who bitterly complain that due to the strict limitations placed on their use of fire, they sometimes have to refrain from helping comrades facing terrorist fire on the ground. “Testimony that is reaching us from fighter pilots who provide close air assistance to the combat soldiers who are currently fighting in the field,” Channel 2´s military correspondent Nir Dvori reported, “about growing frustration over the fact that they hear the forces below them on the ground asking for cover and close air support when they see the terrorists drawing near from short range, firing at them, and there is no approval,

Comments:
It´s not "friendly fire" that kills boots on the ground as much as the "rules of engagement" enforced on a superior battle force. Will the Western powers ever understand that this is cruel to the wives and families of those fighting. Japan and the atom bomb(s) showed that it takes the suffering of the vanquished side to push for their desire to begin the cessation of any war.

Israel extends ‘humanitarian’
cease-fire with Gaza by 24 hours
Jerusalem Post [Israel], by Herb Keinon    Original Article

The security cabinet voted to extend the humanitarian cease-fire by an additional 24 hours late Saturday. The decision was made despite the continued rocket fire by Palestinians in Gaza. Sirens continued to sound in Beersheba, Ashdod, Ashkelon, and the Gaza frontier communities late Saturday. One Israeli was seriously injured by a mortar that exploded in the Eshkol regional council late Saturday. The forum of ministers met late Saturday night, even as Hamas rejected a continuation of the cease-fire and began again firing on Israel. The wider question on the table was how to ensure that in any longer cease-fire agreement Israel would

US Secretary of State John Kerry informed Hamas via Qatar last week that under his proposal for a ceasefire with Israel, based on the original Egyptian initiative, the US would guarantee the fulfillment of many of Hamas’s demands for an end to the conflict, Palestinian sources told The Times of Israel on Saturday. Kerry’s handling of the ceasefire effort was castigated by Israeli sources on Friday and Saturday, and the Israeli security cabinet unanimously rejected his ceasefire proposal on Friday night. (Snip) Kerry made no promises on the issue of the Hamas demand for the release of prisoners, other than a pledge to discuss the matter.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel wants to open the city up to more immigrant children crossing the border illegally, with plans to open up shelters in the city to 1,000 minors by the end of the year. Mr. Emanuel’s office also plans to launch a “broad-based pro bono campaign,” using the city’s legal resources to council young immigrants. “The influx of unaccompanied child migrants is a growing humanitarian crisis that we can no longer ignore,” Mr. Emanuel said (Snip) But citizens in Chicago, one of America’s most violent cities, have claimed that the Obama administration is placing the plight of illegal immigrants above the needs of Chicago’s

Sunni radicals with the Islamic State of Syria and the Levant have created the al-Khansaa’ Brigade, an all-female unit that exists to impose on Sharia law on Iraqi and Syrian women. “We have established the brigade to raise awareness of our religion among women, and to punish women who do not abide by the law,” said Abu Ahmad, an ISIL official in the northern Syrian city of Raqqa, news website Worldcrunch reported. The armed women have reportedly detained and whipped individuals for wearing veils that are too thin, wearing hair clips under veils, walking alone and exposing too much of their face,

Jerusalem - The Israeli military says three rockets have been fired from Gaza at Israel despite a proposed extension of a humanitarian truce in the Gaza war. Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said the group rejected Israel’s proposal to extend an original 12-hour lull by four hours, until midnight (2100 GMT) Saturday. The military says the three rockets were fired more than an hour after the period for the initial lull had ended. Meanwhile, the military warned residents of areas where there had been heavy fighting against returning there.

Bangalore and Chicago - Tyson Foods Inc said it will discontinue operations at three of its factories which make processed meat products such as sausages and hot dogs, affecting about 950 people. The largest U.S. meat processor, which won the bidding war for Hillshire Brands Co in June, said the closures were not related to the acquisition. (Snip) The closures were due to changing product needs, an aging Cherokee, Iowa factory and the distance of the Buffalo, New York and Santa Teresa, New Mexico plants from their raw material supply base, the company said on Friday. House Republican leaders decided to move forward with a vote next week on measure to address the border crisis, including a measure strongly opposed by Democrats that would repeal a 2008 law that delays immigration hearings for children from Central America. Rep. Kay Granger, the Texas Republican who headed a GOP task force that presented a set of proposals that laid the groundwork of the upcoming bill, said it will be introduced as soon as Monday. The inclusion of the controversial change to the 2008 law, which is opposed by President Obama and his Democratic allies in Congress, gives the bill virtually

Newberg, Org. - A growing number of openly transgender students have forced schools around the country to address questions so basic that they were rarely asked just a few years ago, much less answered: What defines a person’s gender, and who gets to decide? A small Christian college here, George Fox University, has become the latest front in this fight, refusing to recognize as male a student who was born anatomically female. The student calls himself a man, and as of April 11, when a state circuit court legally changed his sex, the State of Oregon agrees. But George Fox University sees him as a woman, and it prohibits unwed students from

Below is a short history of those who say they joined a different sort of mile-high club during their White House visits. President Obama insists on flirting with impeachment even as House Republican leaders insist there’s no such possibility. Obama uses a passive-aggressive strategy that can be judged as a political maneuver, a personality disorder, or both. Secure in the knowledge that impeachment is not the same as removal from office, Mr. Obama brings up the topic on his own and with bold defiance. Martyrdom goes well with a Messiah complex and Mr. Obama’s speeches are a non-stop litany of depicting himself as a victim of Republicans. Already operating beyond the constitutional bounds of presidential power, Mr. Obama’s strategy is to push the bounds

The president’s demeanor is worrying a lot of people. From the immigration crisis on the Mexican border to the Islamic State rising in Mesopotamia, Barack Obama seems totally detached from the world’s convulsions. When he does interrupt his endless rounds of golf, fundraising and photo ops, it’s for some affectless, mechanical, almost forced public statement. Regarding Ukraine, his detachment — the rote, impassive voice — borders on dissociation. His U.N. ambassador, Samantha Power, delivers an impassioned denunciation of Russia. Obama cautions that we not “get out ahead of the facts,” as if the facts of this case — Vladimir Putin’s

When President Obama issues executive orders on immigration in coming weeks, pro-reform activists are expecting something dramatic: temporary relief from deportation and work authorization for perhaps several million undocumented immigrants. If the activists are right, the sweeping move would upend a contentious policy fight and carry broad political consequences. The activists met privately with the President and his aides June 30 at the White House, and say in that meeting Obama suggested he will act before the November midterm elections. hey hope his decision will offer relief to a significant percentage of the estimated

Pelosi reminded reporters that it was the National Conference of Catholic Bishops that used the baby Jesus analogy. She then suggested that if Moses hadn’t have been accepted by the Egyptians, then there wouldn’t be the Ten Commandments. “You could even speak about, if it’s your tradition, Moses,” she said. “What would we do if Moses had not been accepted by the pharaoh´s family? The IDF has not yet located and destroyed all of Hamas´ terror tunnels, but the consensus about the intent behind them is quite clear. This is Jonathan Dahoah HeLevi of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs. Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas prime minister, delivered a revealing speech on March 23, 2014, in which he stressed the strategic importance of the Hamas attack tunnels, which, he argued, have changed the balance of power with Israel, when taken together with his organization’s military build-up. In the meantime, the IDF’s war against the tunnels continues. On Monday IDF forces thwarted another terror attack after two groups of Hamas

Even as President Obama grapples with the crisis of immigrant children arriving at the Southwest border, White House officials are laying the groundwork for a large-scale expansion of immigrant rights that would come by executive action within weeks. Officials signaled strongly Friday that Obama´s move would shield from deportation large numbers of immigrants living in the country illegally, as advocacy groups have demanded. Roughly 5 million of the estimated 11 million people who entered the country without legal authorization or overstayed their visas could be protected under a leading option the White House is considering, according to officials who discussed
