McDaniel lawyer: legal
challenge ´slightly delayed´

Clarion Ledger [Jackson, MS], by Geoff Pender

Original Article

Posted By:Pluperfect, 7/26/2014 4:28:30 AM

Mitch Tyner, attorney for Chris McDaniel, says an expected legal challenge by McDaniel of the June 24 GOP primary runoff won´t be filed today. Tyner last week had said he expected to file a challenge of McDaniel´s loss to incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran within 10 days, which would have ended today (Friday). Tyner said in an email this morning: "We´ve been slightly delayed in getting some of the data that we want to include in the challenge and expect to file it next week."

Fight until the end Chris! The Republican Establishment has been fighting tooth and nail against insuring that their very own primary was not rigged or defrauded.

Think on that.....

If the Mississippi Republican Party had any sense they would have allowed an independent audit of the voter rolls immediately after the election. McDaniel deserved that. The bitterness over this mess will last for years. I hope the Barbours are happy.

The Barbours and the Mean Girls and other assorted Rovettes are gleeful knowing that McDaniel is still being thwarted by the Establishment in his attempt to get the data needed for his challenge. They are beyond despicable and continue to drive long-time Republicans away from the party. Not a single Rove/Establishment supporter here has expressed regret in any amount for the hateful campaign conduct of the Cochran supporters. They would rather change Thad´s diapers in the Senate men´s room than allow a Conservative to get a foot in the door of governance.

Hurdles for ObamaCare

Potential complications await consumers as President Barack Obama´s health care law approaches its second open enrollment season, just two months away. Don´t expect a repeat of last year´s website meltdown, but the new sign-up period could expose underlying problems with the law itself that are less easily fixed than a computer system. Getting those who signed up this year enrolled again for 2015 won´t be as easy as it might seem. And the law´s interaction between insurance and taxes looks like a sure-fire formula for confusion. For example: -- For the roughly 8 million people who signed up this year, the administration has set

After the beheading of another Western captive by ISIS, an international conference convened Monday in Paris to talk about how to tackle the threat posed by the Islamic extremist group. The Sunni jihadist group underlined its barbaric credentials over the weekend, posting a video showing the beheading of British aid worker David Haines and threatening the life of another hostage from the United Kingdom. It was the third videotaped killing of a Western hostage released in less than a month. The latest killing, ISIS said, was "a message to the allies of America" -- a direct challenge to the United States. President Barack Obama

EDINBURGH - Scottish support for independence has declined, a poll for Survation showed on Saturday, widening the lead for the pro-union campaign just 5 days before Scotland votes on whether to separate from the rest of the United Kingdom. A Survation poll on behalf of the pro-union Better Together campaign found support for staying in the United Kingdom was at 54 percent, while 46 percent were planning to vote for independence on Sept. 18, once undecideds were excluded. Members of Congress and the White House anticipated a peace dividend by winding down America´s foreign wars, closing bases and shedding tens of thousands of troops. But President Obama´s new, open-ended strategy to confront Islamic State fighters in Iraq and Syria is likely to eat into some of the nearly $500 billion in Pentagon spending cuts that were planned over the next decade. The first five weeks of U.S. airstrikes in northern Iraq has cost $262.5 million, according to the Pentagon, and Obama personally lobbied key members of Congress in recent days to appropriate $500 million to help train and arm Syrian

But rather than devoting themselves to such laudable goals, they’re once again pushing to get every government on the planet to jack up sin taxes on tobacco.(This is something they’ve tried before, as I wrote

CHICAGO/MILWAUKEE — A federal appeals court has reinstated Wisconsin’s voter photo identification law. U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman struck the law down as unconstitutional in April, saying it unfairly burdens poor and minority voters who may lack such identification. Republican Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen asked the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago to overturn that ruling. The 7th Circuit issued a ruling late Friday afternoon lifting Aldeman’s stay and allowing the law to go into effect before the November elections. State attorneys asked a three-judge 7th Circuit panel during oral arguments on Friday to immediately reinstate the law. Van Hollen’s appeal remains

This week, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) slandered a group of Middle Eastern Christians who were trying to raise awareness of their struggle to avoid a genocide in the Middle East. His cynical grandstanding was rightly condemned — but he was hardly alone. Cruz agreed to speak to this group, which included bishops of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, ostensibly out of solidarity, but took the occasion to antagonize them over their insufficient praise for Israel, then smeared them as anti-Semites before dropping the mic. Voter turnout during last month´s primary races was a little too good in some counties, Arizona elections officials said Friday. Some precincts in northern Arizona tallied more ballots cast than there are registered voters, the Arizona Capitol Times reported. According to officials, errors made by poll workers and elections officials in Apache and Navajo counties led to the miscalculations. Initial reports from some precincts showed a turnout of anywhere from 200 to 400 percent. In Apache County, the Puerco West precinct reportedly had 100 votes cast, but only 23 voters are registered there. The voter turnout added up to 434

Let’s start with the end. When it’s over — when you make it through the marathon that is Ken Burns’s beautiful, seven-part documentary “The Roosevelts: An Intimate History,” which begins Sunday night on PBS — you may find yourself with a lingering, nebulous grief. You’re sorry it’s over. You’re sorry they’re over. You’re sorry a certain expression of American ideals is, or often appears to be, completely over. My study habits haven’t improved since college; like an idiot, I put off watching all 14 hours of “The Roosevelts” until I absolutely had to watch them on a deadline binge this week.
