Obama wants to be impeached
Washington Times, by Ernest Istook

Original Article

President Obama insists on flirting with impeachment even as House Republican leaders insist there’s no such possibility. Obama uses a passive-aggressive strategy that can be judged as a political maneuver, a personality disorder, or both. Secure in the knowledge that impeachment is not the same as removal from office, Mr. Obama brings up the topic on his own and with bold defiance. Martyrdom goes well with a Messiah complex and Mr. Obama’s speeches are a non-stop litany of depicting himself as a victim of Republicans. Already operating beyond the constitutional bounds of presidential power, Mr. Obama’s strategy is to push the bounds

So stop being afraid of the a´hole and do it. Things can´t be any worse for conservative/Christians than they are now. Kind of like a third party. It can´t get any worse so why not try it.

I think Obama would love to be impeached because it would prove what he and Holder have been preaching - - that blacks still are being held to higher standard than whites. And look what the attempted impeachment did to Clinton....made him richer than ever. It´s win-win.

If he truly wants to be impeached, the absolute last thing any conservative/Republican should do is comply with his wishes. Why make him a martyr? He´s quite well aware of the fact that he´ll never be convicted, and that Bill Clinton´s approval rating went up after he was impeached.

Obama is shrewd enough to know that an impeachment drive would only result in a backlash of sympathy for him. This is the only way left to him to raise his ratings--and reduce the chances of the Republicans taking the Senate this November.

Br´er Rabbit is begging not to be thrown into the Briar Patch. I agree with the posters above, to impeach in the House with no chance of conviction in the Senate would be a foolish move indeed. He´s already fundraising on this. It would push all of his scandals OUT of the news and all focus would be on Republicans and politics.

He thrives on chaos.

I agree with you, #4. The only catch is that if we let Smidgeon continue for 2.5 more years, it´s going to take more than an establishment GOP President being elected in 2016 to correct the damage. So in the end, letting him continue followed by an establishment GOP President will be like putting a band aid on an amputation. An establishment GOP President is watered down penicillin.

He wants to be impeached, and he wants it now, well before the midterms.

If the House were to indict him this summer, Dingy Harry would rush it to a vote--which would be an acquittal--and have lots and lots of campaign ad sound bites to stir up the lofo base.

#7 gets it. Indict (impeach) all you want. But without a conviction, all you´ll do is give him a pass for all he has done and will do.

The Senate is the key and Obama owns the Senate. DO NOT IMPEACH!

I too agree that now is not the time to impeach Obama. If you think his mockery and attacks on the Republicans are bad now, he would ramp it up a hundredfold. He would go on every "news" channel every day (and they would be more than happy to accommodate him) and say the Republicans are destroying this country, undermining the presidency, blah blah blah. You know what he is capable of and it would be ugly, horrific and unbearable. He would savor every moment of it. Isn´t that just sick and disgusting that we know an American president would behave in such a manner.

Impeachment in the House without a conviction and removal in the Senate
would make Barry even stronger and more arrogant .
According to the Constitution ,
it requires 2/3 of the Senate to convict and remove a POTUS.
Republicans presently have 45 seats and at best , may get 6 seats in November for a grand total of 51.
It´s foolish for anyone to fantasize that 15 Senate Democrats are going to join Republicans
and kick the first black president to the curb.
Beyond that reality, who exactly in Barry´s inner circle
is going to provide evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors to House Republicans ??
Lois Lerner and her computers ?? Valerie Jarrett ?
Hillary ? Biden ?

HERE´S WHY I BELIEVE in the rule of law, and MORE ESPECIALLY, following one´s instincts, and doing the right thing . . ., to follow is a case in point:

In 1976 I was furious. Ronald Reagan captured the spirit of the republican convention, and my patriotic heart. But the cigar smoking, back room dealers, saw to it that Gerald Ford got the nomination . . ., I voted for Jimmy Carter for president.

Stupid, you say? Perhaps; but, think about it for a moment. Had Ford won the presidency, then more than likely a second term. Reagan would have never been the greatest president to serve, in my lifetime.

FOLKS: Don´t outsmart yourselves, by half. Support the spirit of the constitution, and the rule of law. You NEVER know what the outcome may be.

SUPPORT IMPEACHMENT of Obama.

Just do what the Constitution authorizes, and let the politics take care of itself.

What I now hope for is Republican win of the Senate and just let the kenyan twist in the breeze till his self image goes to his head.

A tough call to make.

Our Constitution and laws would concur with impeachment though it would be certain to strike out in the senate. Attempting to ascertain o-the-dark-won´s brain would be much like arguing with the devil. He sees himself as a god first and a martyr second

He taunts the House because he is aware that Dingy Hairy will not fail him. Like a young child will stick out his tongue and exclaim Na NA Na NA taunting his siblings. He feels empowered that nothing is done subsequently he will push his agenda in a more lawless manner, Everything to him is political. He is a man with a mission and intends to fulfill that mission no matter what. We have few in DC who seem to see and understand this strategy and answer with one of their own. Surely there is a right thinking Conservative who has an answer to counteract this evil. If nothing is done by the house, they will be no better than obomba himself as they, like he are unable to make a decision, a ´present´ vote is no vote at all. Back to square one. We´re dammed if we do and dammed if we don´t.

Just a side note today-- saw John Wylie (Dallas rat) marched in front of a judge. Having been in office for years, the criminal was subjected to shackles and cuffs. Charges are many and his compadres number a dozen give or take. This individual has been the thorn in Dallas´ side for many, many years. Book ´em Dano

Mr. Obama’s actions and inactions definitely merit impeachment, but that does not make it prudent to pursue impeachment. The backlash would embolden Mr. Obama all the more and produce other negative consequences but certainly he would not be removed from office. There is no scenario for a two-thirds removal vote in the Senate.

That is what pro-impeachment people have forgotten. Or never knew: Clinton was impeached and continued in office as POTUS. The same thing would happen were Obama to be impeached. Impeachment would do nothing to stop Obama and his extra-Constitutional actions, as the article makes clear.

Impeachment is not the way to go because it will energize Democrat voters. Obama is playing victim, lying about Republicans, and now, daring them to impeach.

They would be crazy to try it. What they can do is to build a case for his incompetency, whether they invoke the 25th Amendment or not. A constant drumbeat from our side about his being an AWOL President, and a constant blockade of any of his actions, where possible, is all we can do.

We are truly stuck with this wrecking ball unless Congressional Democrats with honor, if there are any left, will stand up and speak out in larger numbers than just Diane Feinstein. Ditto the slavering media.

Do not let the White House pipsqueak psych you out. It is wrong to live in fear of him. It is right to confront him. He is an exceptionally small person. So treat him as such and give him a political spanking. Clinton was and will continue to be hurt by impeachment. (By the way, Clinton´s fortune comes from influence peddling deals and not from impeachment). There is an official record of his wrong doings that will be available for all time. You cannot stop the Democrat media from lionizing him, but that will last only as long as Democrats run the media. Short term victories may be gratifying to the criminals; however, it is a long term victory for the people that matters. The impeachment process is very valuable and can be quietly progressed until after the election. That election may put a bit of courage in the milquetoast Republicans.

Just don´t play the game according to the enemy´s rules.

Let his whining continue. Wait until after mid terms, then do preliminary process - get the ducks in a row - then after January swear-ins grant the wish.

Plan B: in the mean time, rile up everyone who will be hurt by the "refugee plan" (middle class, blacks, millenials, etc.) and overwhelm Congress and Whiehouse with calls, emails, faxes, especially Democrats in the Senate. Remember - it was Nixon´s own party in Congress who told him he needed to resign.

Is there a Democrat in the Senate who will go up against Harry Reid? We´ll see.

Why on EARTH would we give him what he wants? Isn´t it bad enough that he travels the world telling all who can hear him how racist-homophobic-anti-women-anti-poor-anti-children Republicans are without his being able to point out he is right when we fail at impeachment, and IMHO, we will fail. After the elections in November, we will see just how tough the agitator-in-chief REALLY is! It may even wipe that smirk off his face. Just the thought of having both the House AND the Senate must keep him up at night. That´s good enough for me. BTW, there is a huge difference between Republicans being "scared of him" and "afraid" to act and outplaying him when it comes to impeachment. We have got to keep our eyes on the PRIZE, not some longshot-impossible plan of "impeachment" while dingy-hairy is still "leading" the Senate. Just mho.

Either for or against, at this point it´s too late to impeach before the mid terms. Congress is on vacation for 5 weeks and they begin campaigning in earnest when they come back. It takes time to put together an impeachment indictment. For now, I´d rather see live Cspan coverage and news reports of Trey Gowdy eviscerating Lerner and Killary.

Let´s not confuse 2 issues here: whether or not Obama should be impeached...and the TIMING. I doubt there´s a single L-Dotter who in their heart of hearts doesn´t want Obama removed from office, but politics is all about timing...and now is definitely not the right time. Obama knows this and that´s why he´s basically flipping the bird to Americans at their wit´s end.

Agree with the others, Obama is trying to psyche everyone out. After all the impeachable things Obama has done, all the damage he´s caused and everyone says they are worried about the outcome? Puh leez. It´s way more scary to ponder what the outcome will be if he remains in office to finish his term. This predicament is much like the Iran nuclear issue. Will they(Iran) or won´t they? Should we do something now or after it´s too late? Gosh what if they fight back when attacked? So no one does anything-group think. So goes the same situation here.

Just put yourself in this scenario: If you were stranded on an island, ship-wrecked with a flare gun and only one flare, would you fire the flare gun when you saw a plane or ship or hesitate because the cannibals on the adjacent island would see it and know you are there? Most would fire the flare and risk it, the cannibals would eventually find you anyway. You might kill one or more of the cannibals with the flare but you´ll eventually be killed and eaten by the rest.

Obama is out to do us in, there is NO doubt about it, it´s now or never. Wait until after midterms if impeachment is perceived as so radioactive. We must go on the offensive against this overt mole, this Muslim Socialist. If he continues with these Lenin policies, it might mean he eventually bans private property and taxes income at 100% like his "father" wanted.

Impeachment is actually too lenient on this pretender. We need to absolutely humiliate him and destroy his legacy. While no doubt he was born in Hawaii, there is also little doubt he gave up his US citizenship and received aid as a foreign student. The documentation of this needs to be exposed, using covert ops if necessary (there must be the patriotic agents of this country or our one ally in the Mideast who could do this), and force a constitutional crisis to nullify all the laws and executive actions he signed while an illegal president. As I recall, the wording of the statement of the Hawaii dem party was changed in 2008, leaving out the wording that obozo met the US constitutional requirements for office. This was no accident. They only attested to the fact that he was the dem nominee.

Count me in as a vote against impeachment and it pains me to say that because Obama´s actions certainly warrant it. The better strategy would to impeach Boehner and McConnell because they hold the key to mounting a successful opposition to the lawlessness that is running rampant in our government.

Surely, there are men/women in Congress with integrity, courage and intelligence who are able to strategize an effective course of action because the path we are on is not working. We need an articulate opposition that is able to communicate effectively. Boehner and McConnell are out of ideas if they ever had any in the first place. Their primary goal seems to be working to assure themselves that they have a place at the trough for as long as they like.

Until the Republicans decide to mount an effective PR campaign against Obama we will be mired in the status quo. The tide of public opinion is changing but it needs a push. If the Republicans ran some ads on TV and social media that exposed Obama´s tactics, it would be effective. Letting Obama pound Republicans everyday with his divisive rhetoric is allowing him to win the PR war he is waging against them. The one tool that could be very effective is going straight to the people. Republicans need to spend the money to rebut Obama´s lies and unfortunately they are lousy at messaging. Until they understand they need to spend money to get their message out, Obama will have the upper hand. That should have been the strategy from day one. The RNC is dropping the ball. Beat Obama at his own game.

It´s impeached and convicted. The convicted part will never happen because of the Senate.

But we can start calling for him to resign, perhaps in an analogy to Pope Benedict XVI. His "legacy" is secure. His presidency is undoubtedly "historic." And the great man needs to turn over the reins because he has exhausted himself by not resting until he solved the economy, jobs, Russian aggression and the border crisis. Resign, Mr. Obama, and history will love you. Hang in there and it will bite you in the butt.

Well that settles it, whatever Obama wants Obama gets. Isn´t that the usual rule among the GOP? This time it is a bit different Obama is warning against impeachment and it is the cowardly GOP that is saying he wants to be impeached as an argument against doing it. I say if you don´t impeach him then take the provision out of the constitution with an amendment which the RATS will all vote for now. Obama has shredded the constitution and ignored laws at every turn so if he is not impeached no president should ever be impeached. When Obama cries that he is treated worse than others this will be the GOP opportunity to present the facts, make the case. Obama would not have been elected if he were white! The left harps on racism for it´s own benefit. This too must be debunked if we are to recover our constitution and freedoms. Harry Reid and the senate will not remove him from office. So be it. Make the articles of impeachment some of the many acts of lawlessness which are all part of the public record, Facts that are incontrovertible. The senate that doesn´t remove Obama will declare itself lawless by the same act. I can see it coming the judge will reject the lawsuit after 3 years on the grounds that the proper remedy in this situation was impeachment! Cowardice all around while evil consolidates it´s gains!

Personality disorder. Living in an alternate universe. Bizarre. Weird. Strange. Detached. Delusional. There are all terms political commentators have used to describe Obama´s behavior in recent weeks. These are not the terms used when speaking of an impeachable offenses. They are words that describe some one who is incapable of performing the duties of the office because of mental health issues.

Drip, drip drip them into Democrat ears because they are the ones who can solve this by invoking the 25h Amendment.

IMPEACH. Lay out the case for the American people exactly what he has done to America and the West. Explain he is not incompetent, but radical, and pro-jihad. Explain the suspicion that he is illegal is there because he hides his life file. Explain Cloward Piven. Explain Benghazi. Detail every unconstitutional action, and the absolutely necessary application of justice. Make the international press cover it. Lay out American exceptionalism in jeopardy. Make all people and all races think about it. Make the establishment think about it. There is no down side to this. If Republicans cannot prosecute this to a win, the American people will have decided they prefer the treason party to the stupid, say nothing as a plan to win without the base, gutless party.

" There is no scenario for a two-thirds removal vote in the Senate."

I have posited just such a scenario, #21 et al:

Impeach - now.
Reid kills it.
Campaign on it in the fall.
Win a mandate in NOvember.
Re-impeach in January.
Apply heat to Dems in February to get the 2/3.

That is a starting point, subject to tweaking. It is possible. At least, it gives voters an opportunity to weigh in without samples and filters by biased pollsters. Don´t trust the voters? Then what are we fighting for?

One thing is for sure: nothing will happen if nothing is tried. Right now, Boehner and company will use neither the purse nor impeachment. Lawsuits will go nowhere. We have no effective pushback in DC. So, why are we returning these feckless RINOs to office?

All good arguments above, both for and against.

I heartily agree with the insanity argument. It was used successfully by the Soviet Union for decades on officials who were otherwise unreachable and will work very well on obama since he shows so many outward signs of a variety of mental defects. Repeat the mantra and even the most rabid dems will begin to look at him sideways. Nobody takes a crazy man seriously. I can just picture the profile of a skinny scarecrow with big ears walking down a green-painted hall muttering, "I, I, I, me, me, me, me, those stupid racists, they just wouldn´t listen. Valerie, may I have my blanket please?"

#42´s plan to get him declared incompetent, though a little far-fetched, is a great deal more realistic and smarter than #45´s.

And by the way, it is neither cowardly nor apologist to weigh carefully issues such as the timing - and no question at all that before the election would be foolish. That case has been made brilliantly in this thread.

I also am perfectly happy that Sarah and others in the public eye have called for impeachment. Talking about it without actually doing it right now is smart strategy, as painful as it is to those of us who would love to see it - and that´s something we all have in common!

It a political trap. It will never happen and is a waste of time especially with the numerous problems the country is confronted with. We need to be focused on decimating the Dems in November and then afterwards, reconstructing this country one step at a time.

Obama´s impeachment would be portrayed as the ultimate slapdown of the black race, one giant indignity heaped on the Great Black Hope.

Besides, he´s too valuable to the GOP as a fundraiser, plus doing the immigration dirty work Republicans fear to do.

A word of caution: I´d like to see him impeached too. He certainly deserves it. In order to do that we need a majority of Americans behind us, i.e. more than 30% as we have now.

Remember the Clinton impeachment? The media devoted 100% of their effort each day to defending him. The rest of the news of the day was secondary.

The world is on fire and domestically we are being accosted by every alphabet soup of federal agency daily. All of that will be ignored. They will ignore all short of a bomb going off in downtown Manhattan.

We have to face one thing. Our Constitutional form of government has broken down. All power now is in the Executive Branch. The fact that a socialist dictator is impeached will not stop his unlawful actions.

We need a leader with the cajones to say that EVERY unlawful action that Obama has taken, or will take in the next two years, will be reversed by our own executive actions. His ignorant minions think Obama is creating law. He is merely interpreting law as he sees fit and instructing his DOJ to ignore the laws. So will we. Forget DACA. It´s gone. Unilateral amnesty. Gone. And on and on.

Impeachment proceedings will give the Democrats fodder and energize their base which is now somewhat demoralized. A more useful strategy is to let him run amok to allow the public (mainly independents) see what he is. That will be devastating to Democrats in 2014 but more importantly in the 2016 elections. Bad news for Hillary too.

FTA: Very possibly Mr. Obama sees himself as Obi-Wan Kenobi, who told Darth Vader, “If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.” Or perhaps as Dirty Harry. Mr. Obama is telling Republicans, “Go ahead. Make my day.”

I think he´s counting on Republicans currently in Congress to give him the Dirty Harry scenario.

IMHO the Republicans need to keep quiet right now about impeachment and just campaign on the disaster that Obama has made of our great country. He´s even angering Democrats, mainly because they have to defend his destructive actions.

Not all Democrats are socialists - remember Ronald Reagan was once a Democrat until he learned that: “The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn’t so.”

This is of a piece with that assassination fantasy the dems were running in 2008. Remember? "Oh the eeevil right wingers will kill our precious Messiah, who is braving near-certain death running in our racist country." It was a deliberate Journolista story spread to make their voters feel protective, a martyr without actual sacrifice wrapping himself in the mantle of JFK, RFK and MLK. It insulated him from Hillary, he was risking DEATH - no one wanted to kill her, so his myth was the more powerful. That meme´s been beaten to (ahem) death, so now a new boogie man is needed. Voilá, political death! Knowing the senate will stand like a stone wall, he can spread this to rally the troops. Remember Billary and O.J. were never so defended as when obviously guilty.

As with the previous lying DemonRat president, Zero definitely deserves to be impeached. But, we need to keep our eye on the ball and that is the midterms. We cannot get distracted from taking over the Senate (with as many conservatives as we can) and hopefully increasing our numbers in the House. We Ldotters and all conservatives need to be relentless. We need to support these candidates with money; we need to work on their campaigns; and we need to drag people to the polls to vote. We blew it in 2012 and we see what happened. Zero unleashed and mocking every upstanding US citizen. We cannot allow that to happen in 2014. Impeachment, as other posters have noted will energize the Dems and will give Zero the gift that keeps on giving; 100 percent of main stream media coverage of the racist Republican party wasting taxpayer money on impeaching a poor misunderstood first black president while so many things in the country are in need of attention.

We cannot fall into the trap. We need to remain determined, focused and in war mode. It is that important. We cannot and must not fail again. Broken glass!

While not nearly as politically savvy as most here, this is a conundrum... I feel as though if we wait until the elections and we gain control of both houses we can undo EVERYTHING this traitor has done. BUT, waiting that long is so detrimental to our country. Sending back all illegals?? I would love to see that simply because we have to stand by our LAWS!! Sneaking in is NOT an option!

Good Lord this man´s handlers are devious. But remember the Van Jones video Beck played? Top down, bottom up, ininside out. This is exactly what´s happening.

What would happen if one Saturday, when people can plan the trip, millions of us showed up in DC... no permits, just showed up. When Congress was in session or not and st the same time millions showed up at their courthouses, public squares. Just one day for all of to say ENOUGH!! LIKE August 30, or Saturday 6th of September. If it were successful, we could chant "Remember, Remember the 6th of September!".

How could we start this?

STOCKHOLM-A Swedish woman has become the world´s first to give birth after having a womb transplant, opening up the possibility for thousands of infertile women to have babies, the doctor in charge of the research project said on Saturday. The unnamed Swede in her mid-30s delivered a healthy baby boy by caesarean section in early September, around two years after receiving a uterus donated by an unrelated, 61-year-old. She was one of seven women who successfully underwent a womb transplant from a live donor – in most cases the recipient’s mother - and subsequently had in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment.
