Obamacare Architect Jonathan
Gruber Once Again Ties Subsidies

Breitbart Conversation, by John Sexton

Did Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber make the same mistake twice? A new audio clip finds him once again explaining that Obamacare subsidies are tied to state health exchanges. A clip of Jonathan Gruber circulated last night in which he states that Obamacare subsidies are tied to the existence of state exchanges. This statement is extremely problematic for the law´s supporters because it appears to confirm the view of plaintiffs in the Halbig case, i.e. that only state-exchanges were intended to deliver subsidies. This morning Gruber told the New Republic´s Jonathan Cohn that he doesn´t know why he said it at

Ultimately it will center on whether a majority of Justices want the court to be the instrument that brings down what essentially is a political act of CONGRESS representing the people. For that they will insert any afterthought, distort any meaning, play all sorts of outrageous shell games. If it looks like the people have vehemently turned against it and their will is being thwarted by a stubborn President, they will swiftly move in and deliver the coup de grace. It all depends on the outcome of the November ´14 polls.

I disagree. This is evidence that the law is written as intended. Therefore, only states with exchanges get suppements. This was supposed to be a path to coercion and it´s back firing. DELICIOUS!

When Leandra Becerra Lumbreras was born, the dust had still not settled on the Civil War, Teddy Roosevelt was a little-known cowboy in the Dakotas, and no one had ever heard of radio, basketball or the airplane. Dwight Eisenhower, Amelia Earhart, Babe Ruth and Adolph Hitler were not even alive when Lumbreras arrived on Aug. 31, 1887, in a small Mexican village. Yet through World War I, World War II, the Mexican Revolution, the Cold War and the Internet Age, Lumbreras has survived — reaching the ripe old age of 127 to become unofficially the oldest person who has ever

Several hundred people, mostly union workers, crowded old Tiger Stadium to hear vice president Joe Biden speak Monday morning ahead of the organized labor´s annual parade. The vice president´s speech helped kick off the start of the Detroit Labor Day parade. This is the second time Biden has been in Detroit on Labor Day in the past three years. Riyadh - Members of Saudi Arabia´s religious police roughed up a British resident of Riyadh after they caught him paying at a women-only cash desk, local media reported on Monday. Saudi Arabia imposes a strict interpretation of Islamic laws, notably a segregation of the sexes. A short video posted on YouTube on Sunday shows a member of the religious police jump out of his car and attack the Briton, who was accompanied by a woman in a black abaya cloak who defended him. "That´s my wife, how dare you!" the Briton is heard shouting in the video. Al-Hayat newspaper, quoting

Will history wonder why we were silent in the face of Christian persecution? How many times have we heard: “Never again”? (Or taken selfies at a concentration camp or Holocaust museum with those words?) How often have we quoted: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing”? And yet: Do we do nothing? What do we actually say in the face of evil? “I don’t want to have on my conscience that I was complicit in something as horrendous as this simply by being quiet,” is how Cardinal Donald Wuerl, the archbishop

Think of the potential for entertainment. It’s fun to think about how the media would drive itself crazy trying to choose sides between Joe and Hillary. On one hand, Hillary is a woman and the media’s expected inheritor of the presidency. On the other hand, Biden is part of the Obama administration. Justin Sink of The Hill recently reported: Biden fuels ’16 talk with New Hampshire visit. Vice President Biden will head to New Hampshire next week for an event on the economy that is certain to intensify speculation that he is readying a bid for the presidential nomination in

President Obama cleared his schedule — and probably his plate — for his commander-in-chef’s wedding Saturday night. Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were guests at the nuptials of Sam Kass, their devoted family chef, and MSNBC host Alex Wagner. The well-connected couple was set to be married at a trendy farm-to-table restaurant in Westchester County called Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Pocantico Hills. The upscale restaurant doesn’t have traditional menus but offers a “grazing, pecking, rooting” selection of in-season foods and flavors for $198, or just two items for $138. The speech by former US Vice-President Al Gore was apocalyptic. ‘The North Polar ice cap is falling off a cliff,’ he said. ‘It could be completely gone in summer in as little as seven years. Seven years from now.’ Those comments came in 2007 as Mr Gore accepted the Nobel Peace Prize for his campaigning on climate change. But seven years after his warning, The Mail on Sunday can reveal that, far from vanishing, the Arctic ice cap has expanded for the second year in succession – with a surge, depending on how you measure it, of between 43 and

Bypassing the political process, private insurers have begun reimbursing doctors for these “advance care planning” conversations as interest in them rises along with the number of aging Americans. People are living longer with illnesses, and many want more input into how they will spend their final days, including whether they want

On TV, incompetence is funny, sometimes hilarious. Jackie Gleason made a career of it on the old “Honeymooners” show; Tom Haverford is absurdly incapable on “Parks and Recreation”; and Michael Scott brought the Peter Principle to new heights in “The Office.” But in real life, incompetence can be dangerous, even life-threatening (think a real-life Homer Simpson actually in charge of safety at a nuclear power plant). If you were in a room with Bill Clinton, he would discover the one issue out of 100 on which you agreed; he would probe you with questions, comments, suggestions; and he would tell you that you enabled him to understand it far better than he ever had before. Because I am a black conservative, someone wrote asking me this great question. “What is it that compels some black men and women to cling to, and follow people like Sharpton, Jackson, Wright, Obama, Spike Lee, Black Panthers, Holder, etc.?” I have pondered the same question. Some black folks embrace victim status because it provides cover for their laziness and irresponsible lifestyles. Black Judases preach a false, evil gospel of victimhood-ism for profit. Some blacks are racist, pure and simple. I believe that a majority of black Americans simply have not been exposed to unfiltered conservatism – to blacks articulating how blessed they
