School cafeteria workers, already frustrated that kids don´t like menus ordered by Michelle Obama and the Agriculture Department, slapped as “offensive” the first lady´s latest criticism that some school districts have given up and are just lazily serving junk food. “It is offensive to America’s frontline cafeteria professionals to say that those who struggle with the national decline in school lunch participation have simply said, ´Well, the kids like junk food, so let’s just give ´em junk food,´ ” said Patti Montague, chief executive of the School Nutrition Association, in a letter to the White House. “Our members are not offering their

Junk food to kids? So what, big deal. They need energy and calories. They have a lifetime to eat "healthy". They´ll survive.

When I was in grammar school, they served us "junk food" too. It was called stewed tomatoes. Yuck. Can you imagine kids eating stewed tomatoes. There were plenty of those that went into the garbage. Probably like 99% of them.

When are our dear leaders going to stop micro-nanny-managing our lives and diets?

They´re all a bunch of self-righteous nanny fascists.

As if Michelle or anyone in Washington cares what they think.

Alternatively, nationalize those cafeteria workers, put them in the federal civil service with corresponding pay and benefits and they would serve the kids arsenic.

I have more respect for chef Jamie Oliver who went out there and showed schools how to serve better food.

She, who has no idea what to feed her own kids even though she has ´an ivy league degree´ and no nutritional education, sits on her largeness and decrees what kids need.

Dinner with this family must be hEll.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., on Friday scheduled a Sept. 8 procedural vote on a constitutional amendment to limit the amount of money that can be donated to campaigns, a measure that´s likely more about curbing donations to conservative candidates than it is about about cleaning up politics. Meanwhile, the U.S.-Mexico border is being overrun by thousands of unaccompanied illegal minors and lawmakers have yet to come up with a solution to the growing humanitarian crisis. Think about it: Just before Senate business ended Friday, with roughly 100 lawmakers skipping town to return to their home districts for the five-week

The House late Friday revived and approved a Republican-authored border crisis bill after GOP leaders hurriedly resolved an internal battle that scuttled the vote a day earlier – but with the Senate on recess and the House soon to follow, there’s little chance of any bill reaching President Obama’s desk until the fall. The president now is vowing to act unilaterally to address the illegal immigration issue. The House legislation was approved on a 223-189 vote. The new version of the bill adds additional funding for the National Guard and includes policy changes meant to speed deportations of illegal immigrant children surging

Yet, the American Heart Association recommends that Americans consume no 6 more than six to nine teaspoons of sugar per day." Representative Luis Gutiérrez? Joining the Congressional Hispanic Caucus as the House awaits a vote on a border bill, Gutiérrez? first spoke in English, criticizing Republicans’ approach to addressing the border crisis and accusing them of putting political gain over helping the unaccompanied children crossing the border. The remarks were critical, as one would expect; the furthest he went was to claim that Republicans speak about Hispanics “almost as though we are a

BOSTON - Massachusetts lawmakers on Friday tightened the state´s already strict gun laws by passing a measure that gives police chiefs authority to turn down a resident´s requests to buy a rifle or shotgun if they believe the person may be a danger. House lawmakers overrode objections from gun-rights advocates in the state Senate who had opposed the measure, worrying that police chiefs could abuse the authority to deny firearms to law-abiding citizens. Even the American left is finally realizing that this is the strangest administration in living memory. Obama simply has no real precedents, which is why he seems so utterly foreign. American presidents tend to be pragmatists, but Obama is locked into a simpleminded ideology of Good vs. Evil. Obama is Good, and anybody who disagrees with him is Evil. Much of this oddity stems from the president’s personality, which many people have described as a mix of major narcissism, borderline personality disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder. Personality disordered people can be very functional in their jobs.
