Democrats´ Minimum Wage
Stunt Laughably Backfires

American Spectator, by Bill Zeiser

It´s been five years since Congress last raised the federal minimum wage, and the laugh-a-minute gang over at Organizing for Action wants you to do something about it. You might better remember the group as Organizing for America. An offshoot of President Obama´s campaign apparatus, the grassroots organization is tasked with promoting his legislative agenda. (Snip) In the grand tradition of meaningless political theater, they are challenging sympathetic Americans to live for one week on that budget and chronicle the results on the Twitter hashtag #LiveTheWage. The results could not possibly be more entertaining. The first clue that this hacky

It´s much worse than I thought. When TSHTF it won´t be poor people who come after us, it will be the Starbucks-every-morning crowd. Of course, they won´t have weapons so it won´t be too bad. /s

I am old enough to remember the stories of Communist USSR, with the poor waiting in lines just because there were lines ("something worth waiting for must be at the end"), while the apparatchik´s had special, filled stores stocked with forbidden goods just for them.

Michelle gets Kobe beef, tuna for us.

I actually got to see it first hand while living in Ceaucescu´s Romania. No tuna, no cans. I saw people stand in line all day to buy paper cups filed with broken eggs. Broken because the farmers had nothing to feed their chickens but sawdust, so their eggs had paper thin shells and no nutritional value.

67% Marxist communist in America and more than that in government as a percentage.

Like the Marxist communists say, we will take over America from within, we know we don´t have a chance militarily.

What is really funny is that the people who support them believe they will still get all their free stuff under Marxist communism. They need to look up living conditions in those countries outside 25 to 50 miles from any city.

Here´s something to think about. In 2007 I was remodeling a rental, in Rosamond Ca. It was boon times. No one was willing to work for less than $10.00 an hour (cash), doing unskilled labor. That was the economic minimum wage at the time.

Today, Obama is considering $10.00 an hour as the federal minimum. Which is better for minimum wage workers? Boon times or Great Recession?

Guinea has made six arrests in the slayings of eight people who were on a mission to educate the public about Ebola. The Wall Street Journal reports: A team of health and government officials, accompanied by journalists, had gone to the village of Womey, in Guinea, on Tuesday. Although there have been attacks on health centers in several affected countries, these are the first fatalities. […] The victims from Tuesday’s attack included the deputy administrative official in Womey and the head of the health-care center there. Two top health officials from the nearby town of N’Zerekore were killed, along with a pastor

On Friday, this year’s POW/MIA Day, the Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office issued a new fact sheet on its efforts to recover US POW/MIAs from North Korea and the Korean War. But there may be some roadblocks on the way, according to a report from KPOW. “Finding live Americans is the highest priority of our accounting process,” the fact sheet said. “DPMO, with the full support of the U.S. intelligence community, aggressively investigates all credible reports and sightings of alleged American survivors of the Korean War living in North Korea. Since 1995, more than 25,000 defectors from North Korea have been screened for

When Anthony Weiner’s mayoral campaign imploded last year amid new sexting revelations, the fallout buffeted his wife, longtime Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin. Clinton’s inner circle was furious with Weiner, and Abedin’s role with Hillary was said to be in doubt. “Huma has a choice to make,” New York magazine quoted a “close associate” of Abedin’s as saying. “Does she go with Anthony, or does she go with Hillary?” The magazine described Abedin as “traumatized” by the prospect of leaving the inner sanctum. One year later, Abedin’s marriage to Weiner appears intact, and her role in Hillary’s camp is secure. As Clinton’s personal chief

Scott Brown riding an

SALEM, N.H. — Voters have soured on President Obama. National and statewide trends favor Republicans. And here in his new home state, Scott Brown’s truck is gaining speed. Analysts and recent polls have found Brown closing in on US Senator Jeanne Shaheen, the Democratic incumbent he is vying to unseat, in a race that has become increasingly nasty and expensive. Once largely dismissed by critics as an unlikely second act in a state he moved to only last year, Brown’s Senate bid is increasingly seen as a plausible path back to the US Capitol. Observers see a race that may be largely determined

A new study from Johns Hopkins University suggests exactly what many conservative activists have been complaining about for years: Washington is out of touch with the rest of America. From Johns Hopkins: Surveying 850 people who either work in government or directly with it, researchers found that the inside-the-Beltway crowd has very little in common with America at large. Washington insiders are more likely to be white. They are more educated. Their salaries are higher, they vote more and have more faith in the fairness of elections. They are probably Democrat and liberal. They more diligently follow the news. And they think

America is silently acquiescing to President Obama’s extraordinarily expensive and flawed plan to fight Ebola in West Africa. Tuesday, Obama announced he is committing $763 million dollars and 3,000 military personnel to taming the outbreak that so far has killed 2,400 people. Though help is urgently needed there, the plan does too little to protect Americans. Obama said nothing about temporarily banning commercial air travel between the U.S. and West Africa, in order to help prevent Ebola from coming here. Some 220,000 residents of West African countries have visas that permit them to enter the United States.

Late yesterday, the Kansas supreme court granted the writ of mandamus filed by former Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Chad Taylor and ordered Kansas secretary of state Kris Kobach to remove Taylor’s name from the November ballot. But the controversy may not yet be over because of another writ filed by a Democratic voter. The court dismissed Kobach’s claim (explained in an earlier NRO post) that Taylor failed to comply with the state statute (K.S.A. 25-306b(b)) that requires a candidate who wants to withdraw to certify that “they are incapable of fulfilling the duties of office if elected.” Taylor sent a letter

While enteroviruses in general are quite common, this particular strain — enterovirus 68 — has not cropped up terribly often since it was first identified in 1962. It can cause severe breathing problems, a particular danger for children who may suffer from asthma or other

President Barack Obama and his daughters had just departed the White House on Friday evening when an intruder scaled the north fence, darted across the lawn and into the presidential residence, where agents nabbed him. Three and a half months have come and gone and the Pentagon has offered no clarity on what happened to alleged Army deserter and Taliban collaborator Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. Fellow soldiers and other critics fear the military’s now-delayed investigation is shaping up to be a whitewash. The case has become a political powder keg for President Obama. Since he traded five imprisoned Taliban leaders for Bergdahl, the US Government Accountability Office has declared the swap illegal, and nearly two dozen House Democrats have joined Republicans in officially condemning the move for making “Americans less safe.”
