Watch Obamacare Architect Jonathan
Gruber Admit in 2012 That Subsidies
Were Limited to State-Run Exchanges

Reason Magazine, by Peter Suderman

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 7/25/2014 4:50:43 AM

Earlier this week, a three-judge panel in the D.C. Circuit Court ruled that, contrary to the Obama administration’s implementation and an Internal Revenue Service rule, Obamacare’s subsidies for private health insurance were limited to state-run health exchanges. The reasoning for this ruling was simple: That’s what the law says. The section dealing with the creation of state exchanges and the provision of subsidies states, quite clearly, that subsidies are only available in exchanges "established by a State," which the law expressly defines as the 50 states plus the District of Columbia. Obamacare’s defenders have responded by saying that this is obviously ridiculous.

FTA: Gruber was asked if the language limiting subsidies to state-run exchanges was a typo. His response: "It is unambiguous this is a typo. Literally every single person involved in the crafting of this law has said that it`s a typo."

Note to Gruber: when your words are basically codified, it´s not a typo. These administration liars go to new depths every day. The argument that this is not what the crafters of the law intended is ludicrous and irrelevant, especially since the crafters did all their dirty work behind closed doors, where those promised pesky C-Span cameras couldn´t find them. It certainly doesn´t help their position when the choice is which lie to rely on, the then version or the now version.

Cue Pelosi now to say that we had to pass the law to find out what typos are in them.

The State exchanges were obviously a trump card that would be used to FORCE the ACA (Obamacare) down our throats. It is another of many examples of how the Hawaiian and the entire Progressive movement for that matter has tried to ´bootjack´ their will on us.

It looks to me like Obamacare has been ´Grubered!´

In response to a white police officer shooting Michael Brown in Missouri, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has announced a broader civil rights probe into the Ferguson Police Department—an action that could lead to a federal takeover of the police. While such probes might not lead to Department of Justice punishment for past local police conduct, it could pave the way for “systemic legal reform going forward,” according to CNN senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin. “It’s very serious,” Toobin said of the investigation, before it was formally announced, “because it can lead to a virtual federal takeover of the police,

Jim Geragthy, acclaimed author and National Review’s chief campaign analyst, has been grousing about the lack of quality polling in key Senate races this year. His frustration is well-founded. So yesterday must have felt like Christmas in September for Jim and political junkies everywhere, as two pollsters released a deluge of surveys covering the most contested races in the country. In light of the results, I’d expect that national Republicans are kicking off the week with an extra spring in their step, as well. We were leaked an advance copy of last week’s much-anticipated Politico/GWU Battleground poll, which was packed

Russian Strategic Bombers Near Canada

Two Russian strategic bombers conducted practice cruise missile attacks on the United States during a training mission last week that defense officials say appeared timed to the NATO summit in Wales. The Russian Tu-95 Bear bombers were tracked flying a route across the northern Atlantic near Iceland, Greenland, and Canada’s northeast. Analysis of the flight indicated the aircraft were conducting practice runs to a pre-determined “launch box”—an optimum point for firing nuclear-armed cruise missiles at U.S. targets, said defense officials familiar with intelligence reports. Disclosure of the nuclear bombing practice comes as a Russian general last week called for Moscow to change its

PRETORIA, South Africa — It is one year and seven months since Reeva Steenkamp was shot dead -- six months since her boyfriend, Oscar Pistorius, went on trial accused of murdering her. In a few days´ time, the question at the heart of this case -- whether he knew that it was his girlfriend behind his bathroom door or whether he truly believed he was firing at an intruder -- will be answered. Of course, there is only one man who really knows what happened on Valentine´s Day morning last year. But there is only one woman whose opinion counts:

While Barack Obama spends so much of his time on golf courses, some 14 million Americans are the ones who want to take a Mulligan. Extrapolating from Obama’s record-low approval rating of 38 percent (via Gallup last week), compared with his 51 percent share of the vote in the 2012 election (he received nearly 66 million votes), that’s how many Americans actually pulled the lever for Obama but now think he’s doing a lousy job. Americans would need to take a Clintonian number of policy Mulligans just to start putting the world and our country back in order. And since the real

It is hard to argue with President Obama´s political calculation that now is not the right time for him to stretch his executive powers and dictate sweeping changes in the nation´s immigration system to include a form of amnesty for millions in the country illegally. Without doubt, that is good news for embattled Democratic senators running for reelection. And, almost certainly, he is correct that whatever he does is "more sustainable" if it is supported by the public. But the fact that he is right on that point makes it even easier to fault him for what has been a clumsy

JERUSALEM—It was the most brazen terror attack Europe had seen since the Second World War—eight Palestinian gunmen slipping at night into the Israeli athletes’ pavilion at the Munich Olympics, shooting two wrestlers who tried to block their way, and taking nine other athletes hostage. In what was ostensibly the first stage of a prisoner exchange involving more than 200 prisoners held by Israel, the Israelis and their captors were helicoptered by German police to a nearby military airfield where they were to board a waiting Lufthansa plane. However, German security forces were waiting in ambush at the airfield that night, 42 years

In fact, Tahmooressi’s ordeal might just confirm many of our worst fears about the Obama administration. The Tahmooressi story sounds more like a schlocky Hollywood script than a real-life tale. WASHINGTON — Republicans and Democrats are struggling for control of the Senate in this November’s midterm elections. But there is no real fight for control of the House of Representatives. The Republicans are all but assured of retaining control of the House, despite last fall’s unpopular government shutdown and the party’s dismal ratings. “The Republican hold on the House is the graveyard of the hopes of Democratic policy change,” says Neera Tanden, president of the liberal-leaning Center for American Progress.
