Jeb Bush weighs in on immigration

to push comprehensive reform

CNN, by Kevin Bohn

Washington – After several weeks in which the influx of tens of thousands of undocumented children illegally crossing the border into the United States has dominated the headlines, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush wrote an op-ed about the issue, calling for a change in how the children are handled after they are arrested - and also urging his fellow Republicans not to use this as an "excuse" to abandon comprehensive immigration reform. His Wall Street Journal opinion piece that published Wednesday evening is similar to the statement he released to CNN last week and is just the second time he´s

Except for those deserving few who may demonstrate true cause for asylum or protection from sex trafficking

Why must they come all the way to the USA to escape that? There are thousands of miles of territories and countries that are a closer refuge. It makes no sense to come all the way to the USA if that is the only reason to come here. Its a lousy excuse.

He´s not intelligent. Clint Bolick is. Jeb has the worst instincts of anyone in the Bush family, and that says something. Intellectual lightweight, mushy, feckless governance from a position gained by name recognition and a lack of any agenda. Unlimited immigration, federal government control of curriculum, those are his signature issues. Bigger federal government. That and rewarding big donors and cronies.

Conservatives should pray that this is the establishment´s horse for the next presidential derby.

We don´t want our laws broken, our property taxes doubling to accomodate diseased people who are looking for "free stuff".
Why don´t you buy Mexico and make it Utopia ?

I read the referenced Bush piece, written with Clint Bolick. The article was very specific and had some good ideas. "Comprehensive" is not the word I would have used. He speaks of how ours is the only system in the world with an immigration law emphasizing reunification of families rather than allowing in the most qualified people. By using reunification, we have no control over the benefits of that particular immigrant. Border insecurity was also addressed. I believe the CNN synopsis to be more than a bit unfair.

No Jeb - we need immigration enforcement of existing laws first.
Refugees are only entitled to asylum when they reach first country - not country of their choice.
Gingrich is correct.
Bushes rehabilitation of disgraced Bill Clinton and Hilary´s Senate seat has done long term harm to body politic.
Why did GHWB and Jeb meet with Obama in WH for a photo with Obama?
Were the bushes sporting Obama to keep 2016 open for Jeb?
As former CIA chief - what does GHWB know about the fraud in the WH?

No comprehensive anything!!! Haven´t you reviewed the wreckage left by comprehensive obamaCare and comprehensive Dodd-Frank. Comprehensive is a non-starter. Immigration reform needs to be done in logical steps, one at a time. First step: lock down the border. Second step: Fix the visa system.

Megyn Kelly faced off with State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki tonight over claims by former Obama Cabinet official Leon Panetta that withdrawing troops from Iraq may have caused the current chaos going on in that country. Kelly pressed Psaki on exactly why President Obama didn’t want to leave a residual force of several thousand troops behind in Iraq. Psaki insisted that these accounts of what happened three years ago were not based on facts, arguing that the U.S. couldn’t simply force all those troops on a sovereign nation, and troops didn’t have the protections they needed. Psaki also told Kelly

Health officials are refusing to answer growing questions about their response to the first Ebola case in the United States. Under intense questioning from reporters, officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Texas health department and the City of Dallas repeatedly declined Thursday to provide details about the steps being taken to prevent an outbreak. Texas Health Commissioner David Lakey, who participated in one press call Thursday, would not identify or describe the four individuals who have been quarantined due to possible exposure to Ebola. President Obama this week committed professional suicide. Let me explain. There is a theory in politics that once a leader has fired 50 or more people from his or her administration, he or she is finished. The reason being that by creating so many enemies ‘outside the tent’, the tent itself becomes too deluged with poisonous bile to avoid sinking into a quagmire of back-stabbing ignominy. Obama went a lot further than firing 50 people. He managed to single-handedly alienate 200,000 employees in the American intelligence agencies by going on 60 Minutes and ruthlessly chucking them all under a bus

HOUSTON, Texas -- Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay was found not guilty today by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. This is the highest appellate court in Texas for criminal cases and thus brings DeLay’s political persecution to an end. The court upheld the ruling last year from the Texas 3rd Court of Appeals.
