A woman who witnesses said appeared to be in labor was prevented from crossing an LA street Wednesday afternoon because the road was closed for President Barack Obama’s motorcade. The woman was seen sitting at a bus stop bench on the south side of 3rd Street just east of Robertson Boulevard and across from Cedars Sinai Medical Center. NBC4’s Robert Kovacik shot video on his cell phone of a woman sitting at a bus stop bench and posted it to his Instagram account with the caption, "Woman in labor on bench as motorcade passes; not allowed to cross street to

It´s a bit overblown, but it might be as close to an anti-Obama story as some will ever see.

There are advantages to living in a state whose vote in the Presidential elections is totally predictable. Here in Oklahoma we haven´t seen much of Obama or Biden. My condolences to those of you who have your travel interrupted by motorcades.

Notice how huge these "Protection" motorcades have become. They are no longer just means of transport. They are attention getters. They shut down entire cities and completely absorb the entire police departments for days.

If I were king of the World, I might have a motorcade half as long. But, this White House Pimp has to show it all off.

With the profusion of privately held drones/RC aircraft, I suspect there WILL be an incident over one of these motorcades someday. Closure of a motorcade route for multiple hours gives any serious trouble maker a lot of warning to deploy their flyer and keep watch. So, that may lead to
1. Banning of private drones/RC aircraft;
2. (AND/OR) Low level air escort (local populations will JUST love that);
3. (AND/OR) Jamming of all non-FCC approved radio signals in the motorcade area;
3. (OR) Replacement of motorcades by helicopter flights. This is the best option for us lowly peasants - less disruption.

END WAG

Presidential motorcades have been tying up traffic for years, this is nothing new. Done by all Rep and Dem Presidents, though actually it´s the Secret Service that decides on necessary security and motorcades.

In this case I blame this cop. He was told about her condition 30 minutes before the motorcade and could have had her in the hospital in minutes, even by ambulance.

Neil deGrasse Tyson is a very famous and popular scientist. He even has a TV show. And wears a cool astronomical vest. Only he’s not infallible. This rather basic truth has been established over the past couple weeks, over much resistance and at the cost of much abuse, by Sean Davis of the lively new conservative website, the Federalist. Davis dug into a handful of just-so stories repeated by Tyson in his public lectures, the point of which is to make himself — and by extension, his audience — feel superior to the dolts who aren’t nearly as scientific as he is. There may be a pattern involving the IRS losing e-mails and other key computer records. For months, the House Oversight Committee has been pursuing the lost e-mails of Lois Lerner and other figures in the IRS tax-exempt organization scandal. Now, the private-jet company NetJets is claiming in a lawsuit that as part of its tax dispute with the agency the IRS “wiped clean a number of computer hard drives containing emails and other electronic documents that the Government was required to produce.” NetJets sued the IRS in 2011, claiming that it improperly applied a ticket tax on users of its aircraft that

President Obama has a pretty obvious deadline for nominating a successor to departing Attorney General Eric Holder. If Democrats lose control of the Senate in November, they´ll still run things until newly-elected members arrive in January. So just to be safe, if the president wants guaranteed confirmation of a new attorney general, he´ll need to pick one soon. That way, even if Republicans win the Senate, and even if Obama´s choice is unpopular with the GOP, lame-duck Democrats will still be able to steamroll the opposition and confirm a new Attorney General. But it could be very, very ugly. The White House
