Pope Francis has met privately with a Sudanese mother in Rome who was put on death row for refusing to become a Muslim. The Vatican said Pope Francis had ´a very affectionate´ meeting with Meriam Ibrahim, 27, her husband and their two small children. Vatican spokesman the Rev. Federico Lombardi said the pope ´thanked her for her faith and courage, and she thanked him for his prayer and solidarity´ during the half-hour meeting.

Comments:
Thank you, Heavenly Father! As usual with the Daily Mail, there are many photos accompanying the article. I am so grateful to Italy. I lived in Rome for four years and am not at all surprised by its kindness and generosity.

I love this! We all prayed for this brave woman and her family. Francis thanking her for her faith and courage--this man is a leader. What a difference between him and Obama.

It is difficult to express the joy of seeing a woman put the sword rewarded for sticking to her Faith and live to be an example to US all. Thank you Italy and especially my Pope Francis for acknowledging her "testimony."

I am forever grateful for the deliverance of this fine Christian. Thank you, Italy!

Might I inject a brief observation? While I really embrace all the good accomplished for her, what exactly is Francis doing for the Christians of Iraq? The ISIS murders destroyed an 1,800 year old church - yet I have yet to hear anything much less see anything condemning this action. Or, did I miss something?

#4 - you may not have noticed, but the Vatican does not have an army, air force or navy. And getting the Knights Templar re-organized on such short notice is difficult.

You might want to check some religious news services and blogs. MSM doesn´t report the "good" stuff.

The question for you is what are you doing? Pray for them.

Good comeback, #5. And to #4, the better question is what exactly is 0bama doing for the persecuted Christians in Iraq and around the world? Unlike the Vatican (disclaimer: I am not Cataolic), 0bama actually does have a military. Pope Francis has spoken out about this, numerous times.

And again, no one should be surprised by Italy´s actions.

First, I give our faithful God all the praise and glory for answering the millions of prayers on the his dear family´s behalf. Not only Miriam but her devoted Christian husband and babies have been through so much. But now -- ha ha Obama --VICTORY!! It´s a great day. Thank you dear Pope Francis and the efforts of the Italian government for securing her release. Mind you, Pope Francis is deeply mourning the loss two days ago of a very very close brother in the Lord of many years, Tony Palmer. Bless you Pope Francis.

What if they polled the people who actually voted in the Primary and asked them if they wanted to vote for the Democrat or the Republican in the November Election and 99% said the Democrat? That is not permitted if you pledged to vote for the Republican in the General in order to vote in the Republican Primary. That´s how the system works. Clever if that´s what they did.

James Foley was singled out for the harshest treatment by his ISIS captors after they found pictures of his brother who serves in the U.S. Air Force on his laptop computer, fellow prisoners said on Thursday. He was regularly the victim of mock executions including once when he was ´crucified against a wall,´ said French journalist Didier Francois. Francois, 53, told Europe 1 Radio that the captors gave Foley rougher treatment from the rest of them because they discovered a picture of John Foley — the hostage´s 35-year-old officer brother — on his computer.

I recently spelled out my support for Israel on Facebook. This is new for me. I´m an American baby boomer, and I always took it for granted that my country supported Israel, and that forces infinitely more powerful than I had the job covered. There´s another reason I previously hadn´t said much about Israel: I´m Polish-Slovak-American, and I am Catholic. Polish Catholics are stereotyped as the world´s worst anti-Semites. Poles suck anti-Semitism with their mother´s milk, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir famously declared.

A Navy diver died at the bottom of a Maryland pond last year after refusing to leave his trapped fellow sailor to drown alone. Petty Officer 2nd Class Ryan Harris, 23, and Petty Officer 1st Class James Reyher, 28, were sent to dive in the Aberdeen Proving Ground on February 26 2013, but their lifeless bodies were pulled to the surface just 31 minutes after they started the dive. No one knew what had befallen the pair until an investigation, completed last year but only recently released, pieced together the final 31 minutes of the young men´s lives.

Many young people, especially the anti-social, dislike classical music so much that it can be played to discourage them from intimidating, harassing and robbing. This experiment has been successful over many years in countless locations. The earliest occurrence was in the mid-1980s, when Canadian outlets of 7-Eleven played easy listening and classical music to disperse teenagers loitering outside. After that, companies from McDonald's to Co-op, transport authorities, housing estates and shopping malls around the world have employed this method. In the UK, the first to do so was the Tyne-and-Wear Metro system in 1997, following Montreal’s underground system in Canada.

The American people cheered – starved for any crumb of leadership and faithfulness to constitutional duties – at the news of Governor Rick Perry calling out the Texas National Guard to patrol the Texas-Mexican border. Then, within the hour, Texas officials conceded that the inadequate contingent of 1,000 guardsmen will not actually do anything but stand around. Texas officials now admit that the 1,000 guardsmen will simply be a “visual deterrent” – for appearances only. The Texas government argues that the Texas National Guard will not have authority to arrest anyone under the Posse Comitatus law. But that is absurd.
