Senate Undergoes Emergency Cleaning
After Woman Drags In Bedbugs

Daily Caller, by Betsy Rothstein

The Architect of the Capitol took emergency measures Wednesday to handle a bed bug problem in a Senate Office Building, including closing off a restroom for a couple of days with yellow police tape. So watch out Senate aides and tourists approaching the sixth floor of the Dirksen Senate Office Building. Bedbugs are not easy to shake. The trouble began prior to a Senate Indian Affairs Committee hearing held Wednesday in which some attendees—lobbyists, presumably—employed people to wait in line for them. This is a common practice and sources tell us it falls under the jurisdiction of the Rules Committee chaired by

Well, that didn’t take long. Just two weeks into the new season of “The View,” co-hosts Rosie O’Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg tore into each other during a commercial break — in front of their stunned studio audience. The spat erupted Thursday after Goldberg interrupted O’Donnell to go to a commercial break before the mother of five was finished commenting in a “Hot Topic” discussion about spanking children on the ABC gabfest. O’Donnell refuses to wear an earpiece to stay in contact with producers while the live show is airing, so she had no clue it was time to stop talking.

The U.S. shale boom is about to hit another big milestone, as it looks like fracking will propel American liquid petroleum production (that includes oil and natural gas liquids) past Saudi Arabia for the first time in nearly a quarter century. The FT reports: US production of oil and related liquids such as ethane and propane was neck-and-neck with Saudi Arabia in June and again in August at about 11.5m barrels a day, according to the International Energy Agency, the watchdog backed by rich countries. With US production continuing to boom, its output is set to exceed Saudi Arabia’s this month or

Investigators have recommended the government bar a Virginia company that employs a who’s who list of former powerful federal officials from getting contracts after they found employees at the Department of Veterans Affairs improperly tried to steer business to the firm. The VA’s inspector general said in a scathing report that Susan M. Taylor, deputy chief procurement officer for the Veterans Health Administration, “continually” lied about her dealings with FedBid, the well-connected reverse auction company whose advisers and employees include two former top White House procurement officials, a general and a former congressman. Ms. Taylor and FedBid officials sought to “thwart” a

Upon Attorney General Eric Holder´s resignation last week, NBC´s Chuck Todd made an odd comment: “[W]hat’s interesting about him, he is a very non-political person.” There may be merit to saying Holder has been more ideological than political, but it still seems like a strange thing to say about him. After all, his most famous act before his tenure as Attorney General had been to help arrange President Bill Clinton´s highly unusual and controversial last minute pardon of a wanted fugitive — mega-donor and billionaire Marc Rich. Holder not only recommended the pardon (calling himself “neutral leaning favorable”) but was also

Just this week, two seemingly unrelated events unfolded, but they actually reveal a new liberal tactic. The Hillary Clinton Front-Group, American Bridge, filed a bogus federal complaint against Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and then a federal probe into New Jersey Governor Chris Christie found no evidence linking Christie to “Bridge-Gate.” Meanwhile, Texas Governor Rick Perry was indicted last month. Make no mistake, these events are related. Emerging is a new liberal tactic to gin up legal proceedings against conservatives and then use the media to amplify the investigations and make the officials look guilty.
