Obama: Let´s not live out ´Scandal´
The Hill (Washington DC), by Amie Parnes

Original Article

President Obama appeared at a fundraiser Wednesday at the home of "Scandal" creator Shonda Rimes and used the popular political thriller to speak about Washington. "No offense, Scandal is a great show," Obama said at the fundraiser before a crowd that included the show´s actress Kerry Washington."But it´s not necessarily something we want to be living out." Speaking at the fundraiser, Obama tore into the Republican party saying that it "has been taken over by people who just don´t believe in government." Republicans he said "obfuscate and they bamboozle and sometimes don´t say what´s true -- that was a euphemism," he

´Scandal´ is perhaps the worst thing I have ever watched. I caught a few episodes on Netflix while recovering from a surgery.

It would almost pass as one of the Christopher Guest ´type´ parodies except for the fact that it is obviously not being presented as a joke.

While Jack Cashill today focuses on why President Obama cannot be trusted on Ebola, Byron York of the Washington Examiner does a quick accounting of the president’s track record fully supports Cashill’s conclusion. On September 16, the president flew to the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta to speak to the public on the disease with the reassuring and authoritative logo of the CDC behind his head. (That was also where the Secret Service allowed him to board an elevator and stand inches away from an un-vetted security contractor with loaded gun, who happened to have an arrest record, but

On Thursday, President Barack Obama said illegal immigrant DREAMers who come out of the shadows and demand legalization--often ahead of legal immigrants and those still waiting in line--represent what it means to be American. Speaking at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Dinner, Obama promised to enact his executive amnesty by the end of this year and then said, "the young person who comes out of the shadows to demand the right to dream. That´s what America is about." "DREAMer is more than just a title, it´s a pretty good description of what it means to be an American," Obama said. Before

President Obama is not popular at this point in his presidency, even in a blue state like Minnesota. Our own Senator Al Franken repeatedly bristled as GOP candidate Mike McFadden cited Franken’s 97 percent voting record in support of Obama at their debate in Duluth earlier this week. Franken mocked the statistic but didn’t offer a correction. That’s because the statistic is correct and because any purported correction would be even more damning if it came from Franken. The 97 percent figure is a good one to use. It doesn’t come from a partisan source; it comes from Congressional Quarterly.

A few months ago, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal traveled to Washington to introduce a new national health care proposal. While there, he arranged to meet privately with a small group of conservative journalists and policy experts at the offices of the Ethics and Public Policy Center think tank. Some of the experts engaged Jindal in debate about one of the plan´s more arcane provisions. The back-and-forth between Jindal and his questioners went deep into the proposal´s details, and it was soon clear that Jindal could dive as far into the health care policy weeds as any of the wonkiest wonks.

Count House Speaker John Boehner as a fan of Jeb Bush for president. He also hasn´t spoken to Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz in two years. The driving issue of the 2016 election will be “competence,” and if former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush runs, “he’s got a real shot” at winning, the Ohio Republican told the Cincinnati Enquirer on Tuesday. Boehner applauded Bush’s ability to “talk about Republican issues better than most anybody that we’ve got out there,” approving of his “real record of reform” as Florida’s governor from 1999 to 2007. A presidential defeat isn’t an easy thing to bounce back from. And Mitt Romney did it twice. So it was understandable that after he lost the presidential race in 2012, he was adamant about closing the door to the possibility of a third campaign. But recently, speculation is whirling that Romney may not be so adamant anymore. When asked if he was running in a New York Times interview published earlier this week, Romney said : “I have nothing to add to the story.
