Senator Manchin: What My Daughter

National Journal, by Ron Fournier

You´re a United States senator from a state struggling to compete in the world economy. Your daughter runs a giant drug company with roots in your state, and the firm makes a fortune from taxpayers via Medicare and Medicaid. Everything´s cozy and connected and perfectly Washington – until your daughter renounces the firm´s U.S. citizenship to reduce its U.S. taxes. What do you do? If you´re Joe Manchin, you duck a reporter´s telephone call for six days, then emerge for an interview in which you vow to make your daughter´s actions, from this day forward, illegal. Sort of. The West Virginia Democrat told

Perhaps Congress should consider lowering the Corporate tax rate so companies would not benefit from leaving the USA? Naw, that would reduce Congress´ power.

Yet another Dem loudly proclaiming how much he hates freedom. You want to move to the Netherlands, China, whatever.... that´s your right. But for the liberty-hating liberals there must be a law written to stifle your free will.

When the Demonrats and RINOs team up to make America an unprofitable business environment, businesses will leave, go bankrupt or never be created. This leads to fewer jobs, fewer products and LESS tax revenue.

This extremely simple economic fact is only surprising to Marxists, fools and especially Marxist fools.

It´s doubtful the senator´s daughter would show for Thanksgiving. She would be cautious as her dad has shown in the past few years that he has a gun and knows how to use it. Wasn´t he successful at shooting thru a law of his own BFF, o-the-dark-won? Should he request that his daughter go out with him to hunt wild turkey, caution is the key.

When will WV, a supposedly conservative state, clean its stables of these Democrats. This November at least, WV will very likely vote to replace one of its two Dem senators with a Republican. And like AL now and LA and AR, eventually, those switched-party seats will not in my remaining lifetime go back to the Democrats.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz
Politico, by Edward Isaac Devore    Original Article

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is in a behind-the-scenes struggle with the White House, congressional Democrats and Washington insiders who have lost confidence in her as both a unifying leader and reliable party spokesperson at a time when they need her most. Long-simmering doubts about her have reached a peak after two recent public flubs: criticizing the White House’s handling of the border crisis and comparing the tea party to wife beaters. The perception of critics is that Wasserman Schultz spends more energy tending to her own political ambitions than helping Democrats win. This includes using meetings with

PARIS -- About half of Iraq´s army is incapable of partnering effectively with the U.S. to roll back the Islamic State group´s territorial gains in western and northern Iraq, and the other half needs to be partially rebuilt with U.S. training and additional equipment, the top U.S. military officer said Wednesday. Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and a former wartime commander of U.S. training programs in Iraq, said a renewed U.S. training effort might revive the issue of gaining legal immunity from Iraqi prosecution for those U.S. troops who are training the Iraqis. Vice President Joe Biden’s casual use of an expression deemed anti-Semitic by many has drawn sharp condemnation from the Anti-Defamation League. Biden referred to bankers who take advantage of military men and women serving overseas as “Shylocks.” The term comes from Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice, in which the villain Shylock is a greedy Jewish moneylender who infamously asks for a “pound of flesh” as payment. “Shylock represents the medieval stereotype about Jews and remains an offensive characterization to this day. The Vice President should have been more careful,” said Anti-Defamation League National Director Abraham Foxman. Biden was speaking to the Legal Services Corporation,

In his major address explaining America’s new war against ISIS, President Obama pledged that there would be no U.S. combat troops. On Tuesday, Gen. Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said he may recommend ground forces in the future. The White House is seeking to gloss over the rift between the president and his top general, but it is clear that just below the waterline Obama is not on the same page as the commanders who will be leading the new fight. We´re at war. We´re putting boots on the ground. We´re not waiting around for the host nation´s government to get its affairs in order, or for a regional coalition to commit first. The president has apparently overcome his reluctance to use the military, his worries about a commitment to intervene without an exit strategy, and his usual reluctance to acknowledge (even implicitly) that his administration was wrong when it assured us that there was nothing much for us to worry about. Of course, the enemy the president has boldly and unhesitatingly sent our troops to fight is the Ebola virus. Aren´t there

Throughout debate and final passage of Obamacare, the president and liberal allies in Congress assured the American people that the expansive healthcare law would not fund elective abortions. “[U]nder our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions,”President Obama declared in 2009. Today, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) confirms that’s just another broken promise. Here are three things you need to know about abortion and Obamacare: 1. Obamacare sends federal taxpayer dollars to health plans that include coverage of elective abortion. The GAO identified 1,036 Obamacare exchange plans across the country that cover elective abortion while remaining eligible for taxpayer subsidies.

What is the enduring lesson of the 2003 invasion of Iraq, when the Bush administration overestimated and, in some cases, exaggerated the threat posed by Saddam Hussein? Some say it´s to be skeptical of government officials who are making the case for war. I say the legacy should be skepticism toward government officials, period – all of them. Their hidden agendas can shade the case for peace as well as war, which might explain why there´s no consensus among so-called experts about the threat posed today by ISIS.
