‘NSA in da House’:
State Dept. Doesn’t Object

ABC News, by Chris Good

German artist Oliver Bienkowski probably wasn’t seeking the U.S. government’s approval when he projected onto the U.S. embassy in Berlin, early last Saturday, the words “NSA in da House” beside a peace sign and an image of President Obama wearing a backwards baseball cap. But the U.S. State Department, while it disagrees with the message, says it’s okay with the act. “Well, I strongly disagree with the message in it, but support the ability of people to freely express that message,” State Dept. spokeswoman Marie Harf told reporters at Tuesday’s daily press briefing. They were the first substantive comments the

The photo will reveal that this mockery is very, very large...

Everyone probably feels much better now that Valley Girl Marie Harf has weighed in on it for the State Department.

But isn´t "da" for "the" racist?

Can you imagine this huge mocking light "cartoon" on the side of the U. S. Embassy in Berlin? Obie has really laid an egg with the Germans... This has to make him a laughingstock.

Bill Clinton has been caught on tape making spontaneous comments about Israel´s prime minister that seem to be in direct conflict with Hillary Clinton´s public stance. The former president´s comments that Bibi Netanyahu was ´not the man´ to make peace with Palestine were captured during a talk with a pro-Palestinian activist in Iowa on Sunday. He and Hillary were both in the state that kicks off the election season with its first in the nation caucus for the Harkin Steak Fry. ´If we don’t force him to have peace, we won’t have peace … Netanyahu is not the guy,´ the

On September 15, the Paris conference addressing the rise of IS militants and support for Iraq started with speeches from Masum and French President Francois Hollande. ‘The solidarity and unity of the international community against IS militants is vital because IS insurgents are threat to the whole world. BEIJING: China’s industrial production growth slowed sharply to its lowest level for more than five years at 6.9% in August, intensifying concerns for the world’s second-largest economy. The key indicator measuring output at factories, workshops and mines, slumped from a 9% year-on-year expansion in July and was the worst since 5.7% in December 2008, during the global financial crisis. Retail sales, an indicator of consumer spending, rose 11.9% in the same month year-on-year, also down from 12.2% in July. Fixed asset investment, a measure of government spending on infrastructure, expanded 16.5% on-year in the first eight months of 2014. It was below the 17%

Mark Sanford’s Breakup Post
Caught His Fiancée Off Guard
New York Times, by Jim Rutenberg    Original Article

Representative Mark Sanford of South Carolina surprised the political world on Friday with his announcement that he was ending his engagement to the woman with whom he had an extramarital affair, the revelation of which stunted his rising-star career five years ago. But in interviews last spring, Mr. Sanford and his fiancée, Maria Belen Chapur, indicated that a relationship born in a stew of infidelity, 21st century politics and Twitter-enhanced cable-news sensationalism had, perhaps inevitably, sustained damage. Over the intervening months the relationship collapsed as the two argued over a wedding date, Ms. Chapur said in an interview on Saturday. Ms. Chapur

Say, what´s been going on with Mark Sanford? Funny you should ask! The ex–South Carolina governor and current congressman, Appalachian Trail hiker, and perpetual seeker has written a 2,375-word Facebook post about his latest legal battle with ex-wife Jenny Sanford. Its tone, if not its exact content, will be familiar to anyone who has ever heard a middle-aged man self-righteously complain about what a mean, nasty lady his former spouse is, so feel totally free to ignore it on this beautiful Friday afternoon. Really, the only interesting thing in Sanford´s status update is the news that he has broken off

SAN DIEGO — African-American elementary students in California were chronically truant at nearly four times the rate of all students during the last school year, according to a state report released Friday. The report by the California Attorney General´s office is the first time the data has been broken down according to race and income levels. Officials say such data is needed to address the problem. Poverty and suspensions are contributing factors. Overall, more than 250,000 elementary school students missed 10 percent or more of the 2013-2014 school year or roughly 18 or more school days. The absences were highest at the kindergarten and

But she said she would deliver her verdict on a lesser charge, culpable homicide, on Friday. Here is a guide to the judge´s reasoning: Premeditated murder The state argued that Mr Pistorius had had an argument with Ms Steenkamp, after which he deliberately shot her dead. The judge ruled this had not been proved, as there was only circumstantial evidence of an argument - uncorroborated witnesses´ statements. She also dismissed witnesses who said they had heard Ms Steenkamp scream before the shots were fired,

"Hospitals, clinics, and the few treatment centers that do exist have been completely overwhelmed." The president was particularly dire

Democrats are now (very slightly) favored to hold the Senate majority on Nov. 4, according to Election Lab, the Post´s statistical model of the 2014 midterm elections. Election Lab puts Democrats´ chances of retaining their majority at 51 percent -- a huge change from even a few months ago when the model predicted that Republicans had a better than 80 percent chance of winning the six seats they need to take control. (Worth noting: When the model showed Republicans as overwhelming favorites, our model builders -- led by George Washington University´s John Sides -- warned that the model could and

First Lady Michelle Obama has made healthy eating and exercise her signature issue. But, a recent study published by the Sage Journal found that her “elitist” advice actually “shames poor and middle class mothers.” The College Fix added that the study found that Michelle Obama’s healthy eating program is also sexist. It’s also sexist, the study’s authors suggest, noting that “intentionally or not, it places the burden of a healthy home-cooked meal on women.” Sage Journals published the study by North Carolina researchers Sarah Bowen, Sinikka Elliott and Joslyn Brenton. Washington - The current threat posed by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, will test not only the resolve and strategic judgment of America and its allies, but also our nation’s fidelity to a basic constitutional principle. Our Constitution reserves to Congress the power to declare war and designates our president as the commander in chief, but our recent history has been characterized by executive overreach and legislative abdication in the initiation of military action. The current crisis gives us an opportunity to restore the proper balance between the branches. America’s history since 2001 should compel us to fix the way
