Michelle Obama’s Pro-Water (Soda Silent)

First Lady Michelle Obama devoted Tuesday afternoon to telling Americans to drink less sugary soda, without actually saying anything bad about sugary soda. Comments:
Thanks Michelle, but my Mommy & Daddy taught me this by the time I was five years old. It´s NOT the job of a supposed government representative to tell people stuff like this, it´s the job of the parents. If you really want to help, why not explore why so many children don´t have Mommies & Daddies anymore in this country. . . . . But of course that would require dealing with the immoral and destructive welfare state your party has foisted on our country for the past 50 years.

Another egomaniac telling others how to live. Such juvenile thought processes are rampart in government. The only solution is to Reduce the size and impact of government, itself.

And so far, according to a Nielsen study on the impact of the “Drink Up” campaign, online ads have helped fuel a 3% lift in sales of bottled water, worth about $1 million.

1. I wonder how they figure it was her campaign that caused the increased sales? It´s summer and more people are spending time in outdoor activity - and buying and drinking more water. Wait and see if the increase in sales holds over the winter.

2. Isn´t this putting a kink in the ban plastic water bottle movement?

FTA: "...the campaign to promote the consumption and accessibility to water."

Just out of curiosity, is there any area in our country where citizens do not have access to water? Are we some third-world country where everyone goes down the road every morning with our plastic bucket to fill it with water from the faucet in the middle of the road?

Anyway, what difference does it make really?

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said those pushing for her to retire are “misguided,” arguing that President Obama could not appoint a similar replacement to the bench in an interview published Tuesday. Ginsburg, at 81, is the oldest member of the Court. Some on the left have suggested that she might retire while Obama is in office, to guarantee that a Democratic president could appoint her successor. Ginsburg has said before that she is "likely to remain for a while," but offered insight on her reasoning in an interview with Elle magazine. "[A]nybody who thinks that if I step

Hundreds of environmentalists plan to "shut down" the New York Stock Exchange later Tuesday to protest the relationship between global warming and Big Business. Scores of protesters had already gathered in lower Manhattan early Tuesday for an event dubbed #FloodWallStreet. They planned to march a few blocks north to Wall Street and stage a "sit-in" until forced to leave. Their beef: the fossil fuels industry and other companies are profiting at the expense of the environment. The activists said they were willing to be arrested to drive home the link between global capitalism and worsening climate change.

President Barack Obama, stumping for the Democrats ahead of November´s congressional elections, has twice invoked Ronald Reagan´s seminal campaign question: "Are you better off than you were four years ago?" Framing the debate like that helped Reagan twice - in 1980 when he beat incumbent Jimmy Carter, and then again in 1984 when he won re-election during an economic upswing. But a similar message has failed to resonate for Obama primarily for one reason: while he stresses the economy has improved in almost every aspect on his watch, average family incomes have slipped.
