Douglas Gotterba, who worked for John Travolta´s aircraft company Alto in the 1980s, will get the opportunity to argue in a lawsuit that he holds no confidentiality duties to the actor. On Tuesday, the airline pilot was given the go-ahead sign by a California appeals court. Gotterba worked for Travolta for six years. According to press interviews he´s given, he claims that his relationship with Travolta was more than professional. He stopped working for the actor in 1987, at which point he entered into a written termination agreement with Alto. Nearly 25 years later, Gotterba came forward to "tell the story

So when old Johnny Boy was flying, and said, "Hey, we´re going around, grab a throttle...", it didn´t mean what I thought?

Or, for that matter, when he said "Hey, we´re gonna shoot the back-course approach", and we weren´t anywhere near an airplane?

John, can´t say the public really cares about your secrets. At the moment we are more interested in the secrets of others.

There usually is some sort of financial inducement when a person wants to spill the beans on a relationship. It´s unseemly in my view. Things that were conducted in private should remain private.

Why is Social Security seizing your

CBS News first met Mary Grice in April after her tax refund of almost $3,000 dollars had been confiscated, she said, without notice. It turned out the Social Security Administration had seized her refund, claiming her family received too much in death benefits after Grice´s father died - in 1960. (Snip)CBS News found several taxpayers who say Social Security is doing just that: taking their refunds without evidence the debt is theirs. Here´s what happened to Diana Vonderacht of New Jersey: "I asked them to give me checks with signatures because I can show them I didn´t sign these checks. They

The R-turned-D Navy man and ex-senator is contemplating a 2016 run. He might not beat Clinton, but he’d be one tough sparring partner. Democrats uneasy about a Hillary coronation may have help on the way from former Virginia Senator James Webb, who told an audience at the National Press Club on Tuesday that he is seriously considering running for president, that he wants “true fairness” in our society, and that he would give voice to those who´ve been left out and written off. His remarks sounded like a campaign speech delivered from a populist perspective, slightly right of center where Webb,

President Obama will expand a protected marine habitat to six times its current size, making it the largest aquatic area off limits to development in the world, the White House said Wednesday. Obama will officially sign a proclamation increasing the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument in the south-central Pacific Ocean on Thursday to 490,000 square miles. The White House said it would help revive overfished populations, such as tuna, and preserve coral reefs that support marine life. "Expanding the Monument will more fully protect the deep coral reefs, seamounts, and marine ecosystems unique to this part of the world, which are

You’ll recall that Obama participated in a comedy bit with Zach Galifianakis earlier this year as part of a huge promotion to get people enrolled in Obamacare. Authorities believe that Traficant had been pulling the 1948 Ford tractor into a barn, when he lost control of the tractor and struck a large steel blade. Why Wisconsin won´t become Illinois

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a Republican, faces a difficult re-election in six weeks. Under normal circumstances, he would probably be coasting to victory. He just beat a recall attempt in 2012, Wisconsin´s economy is improving, and he put in place reforms that have already saved the state $3 billion. But of course, this is the issue. His now-famous union bargaining reforms of 2011 have incurred the wrath of America´s big labor unions, which are now eager to defeat him. But anyone who doubts the wisdom of Walker´s reforms — and the self-interested short-sightedness of the public union bosses — need only look

Anti-climate-change marchers took to the streets of Manhattan in the hundreds of thousands over the weekend to demand international action to fight global warming. The throng would’ve been better advised to parade in downtown Beijing, assuming the Politburo wouldn’t have called out the infantry. China is the locus of the alleged crime against the planet that is carbon emissions, yet the marchers staged their event in the United States, where prior to last year emissions had been declining (thanks, in part, to the natural-gas revolution, which oddly didn’t get much love from the climate marchers). Bill Clinton never stops. Last week while he and Hillary were in Iowa, Mr. Clinton continued his nonstop campaign to sell his unique take on his own accomplishments. This time it was Haiti. Politicians and their minions practice spinning the facts to fit their campaign and governing narratives, and when they leave office, many of them spend their retirement years making sure that as many people as possible buy into their version of history. They do it because, at the end of the day, it’s not what happened that’s as important as what people “think” happened while they were in office. Former

A former U.S. government official says Holder has been increasingly "adamant" about his desire to leave soon

After 75, Emanuel suggests, “We are no longer remembered as vibrant and engaged but as feeble, ineffectual, even pathetic.” But Emanuel is no garden-variety crackpot. Nor is he a wannabe science-fiction writer dreaming of a centrally planned planet of robust youthful humanoids.
