Obama scraps Jimmy Kimmel

As crises continue erupting all over the world, presidential fundraising trips still make the cut. Late-night television appearances, on the other hand, do not. White House spokesman Josh Earnest confirmed Tuesday that tentative plans to appear on Jimmy Kimmel´s late night show during President Obama´s three-day trip to the West Coast were scrapped, at least in part because of how it would look. The decision "is at least in part related to the challenges of doing a comedy show in the midst of some of these other, more serious matters that the president´s dealing with in the international scene," Earnest told reporters. The president has taken

Seriously, 0bama is just not funny..that is thinking there can be "more serious matters" than his golf game that need his attention.

More serious matters like avoiding his responsibilities and traipsing around "fund raising". When the going gets tough, obama leaves town.

Then he stomped over to the nearest corner to pout, muttering all the while they made him miss another evening impersonating a tee-vee star. He does so love that camera, almost as much as his teleprompter.

Traditionally, you wouldn´t gift someone a rat -- not someone you like, anyway. And even if a gift-wrapped rodent was in the cards, you´d likely shy away from the giant African pouched rat, which -- as the name suggests -- is rather large (think cat-sized). Tanzania-based NGO Apopo, however, thinks rats make excellent gifts. So much so that they´ve launched an adopt-a-rat program, which allows participants to sponsor the animal. The recall includes 745,000 vehicles in the United States, 82,000 in Canada and 20,000 in Mexico. Seoul, South Korea - Kim Jong-un, the North Korean leader, is “not feeling well,” a state-run television station reported this week, in a rare revelation about his health. In a documentary aired on Thursday, the North’s Central TV showed Mr. Kim, who has not been seen in public in recent weeks, walking with a limp while visiting a factory in Nampo, a provincial town southwest of Pyongyang, the North Korean capital, last month. A narrator intoned about the tireless work of Mr. Kim, “our marshal, who lights the path of leadership for the people like a flame, although he was not feeling well.” Central TV, a key channel of government

After issuing an apparently heartfelt, if belated, apology for his leadership missteps after the death of Michael Brown, Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson briefly joined protesters late Thursday evening as they marched outside the police station. That the man who helmed a strong-arm crackdown on angry residents after Brown’s death on Aug. 9 would join those residents in a moment of solidarity could have been a major moment in what’s become a prolonged standoff between a white police force and a majority black city. Freedom to Marry, a group that’s long pursued gay marriage legalization in courts, will air a new ad aimed at urging the Supreme Court to take up one or more of the five cases currently on its docket.
