The price of beef and bacon hit its all-time high in the United States in June, according to data released Tuesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). What would the inflation numbers be if food and fuel were included? Just another way the government is lying.

Shop sales and put necessities at top of grocery list. Good meat, chicken and fish. Fruits and veg. We can do it.

I freeze good ground meat in my own preformed patties when it is on sale. Fish that has not been previously frozen can be picked up on sale. I freeze extra portions. Poultry parts are easy to freeze when they are on sale. Even bacon shows up at reduced prices. I portion-freeze it as well. And I pick up a value pack of New York steaks when they are on sale and freeze them individually.

We don´t have a big freezing compartment, but it works for us. When prices zoom, our freezer can be our best friend. Well, almost...

I see people buying meat, usually with an EBT debit card.

I cant afford meat. I make a pound stretch- if I get any. Chicken is our main meat, and pork.

yesterday we used pork chops dated 3/30. the freezer and zip lock bags are your friends. Got a used freezer on craigslist for $100 and we buy to load it. We shop meat on sale only and when we see a good deal we load up. If you can, buy bulk and cut your own. Pork loins and pot roasts can be "subdivided". Last month I bought chicken breasts at .99/lb. I bought 10 lbs. The sales are out there but now we shop at least 3 markets. And even tho we know these are "loss leaders" in order to get traffic, we don´t allow ourselves to be lured by other products not on sale. Get in - hit - get out with your bargains, wherever they may be found.

But watch the packaging for country of origin. I´m seeing some sale meat from Mexico. No thank you. Ditto for fish from Thailand...

High prices are by design. The intent is to reduce our consumption. It is what his majesty desires. Meat, milk, gas - some of the things you want/need the most have gone up more than the price of arugula and tofu. No accident.

In Texas Walmart stores took a survey asking would their customers prefer higher prices and the size of the package contents to remain as is. Or would we prefer they keep the current price and make for a smaller content size. Ground beef once sold in five pound packages is now sold in three. What once was a 5 pound bag of sugar is now ?3? I believe. Ice cream is no longer a gallon, and when buying cookies there is more packaging than cookies. As the earlier poster stated, we buy the ground beef, make the patties and freeze individually to pop them in a freezer zip lock bag for use when needed. Fresh produce if not used promptly is prepared and frozen. As another stated, eggs are now eaten every day at breakfast. At only 50 cents a dozen from the chicken farm they remain the best bargain. The two of us go thru more than a dozen each week. Funny thing, would seldom eat eggs but love cheese omelets.

Enough about food. The ´first family´ would not be pleased.
