British air accident investigators will retrieve data from the black boxes of crashed flight MH17, UK Prime Minister David Cameron has said. This follows a request by authorities in the Netherlands, where the Malaysia Airlines plane flew from before crashing in Ukraine. The experts, based at Farnborough, will download data from the flight recorders for "international analysis". Some 298 people, including 10 Britons, were killed in the crash. Mr Cameron tweeted: "We´ve agreed Dutch request for air accident investigators at Farnborough to retrieve data from MH17 black boxes for international analysis." The announcement comes after Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond joined other EU ministers

FALFURRIAS, Texas—Governor Rick Perry’s much-anticipated announcement of the deployment of up to 1,000 members of the Texas National Guard to portions of the Texas border with Mexico left many issues unresolved. As the deployment appears to be focused on the Rio Grande Sector of the border, the most looming unresolved issue is the fate of the rest of the border. [Snip] While this is certainly the most concentrated area of illegal immigration and the unprecedented influx of unaccompanied minors, the majority of the Texas-Mexico border is still relatively unprotected. If you want to know why Vladimir Putin continues to ignore the demands of the international community to get out of Ukraine, just listen to his deputy foreign minister´s reply when asked if the Kremlin feared the French might suspend the sale of two Mistral helicopter carriers to Russia. “We’re talking about billions of euros,” Dmitry Rogozin told Reuters in Moscow, “The French are very pragmatic. Cancelling this contract would be less damaging to Russia than to France.” Mr Putin has long presided over a mafia state, and this was spoken like a true junior boss, mixing the threat of

A train carrying the remains of victims of the Malaysian airliner which crashed in Ukraine has arrived in the city of Kharkiv, outside rebel territory. The transfer of bodies from flight MH17 follows international pressure on pro-Russia rebels, amid accusations that the aircraft was shot down. Meanwhile international monitors say parts of the wreckage have been changed since they first saw it. [Snip] The Malaysian Airlines flight came down in rebel-held territory near the eastern village of Grabove. Most of those who died were Dutch and the remains will be flown from a co-ordination centre in Kharkiv to the Netherlands

Evidence-Tampering ´on Industrial

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has said that "evidence-tampering on an industrial scale" is taking place at the MH17 crash site, accusing pro-Russian rebels of attempting a "cover-up". Speaking after the success of an Australian UN resolution calling a full and secure investigation of the crash site, Mr Abbott spoke strongly against the rebels. "After the crime comes the cover-up," he said, adding: "What we have seen is evidence-tampering on an industrial scale, and obviously that has to stop." He said he had seen evidence that it was not "random individuals" who were picking over the site, but that he

David Cameron today warned President Vladimir Putin to end the "festering and dangerous" crisis in the Ukraine or face drastic international sanctions aimed at his "cronies and oligarchs." In a significant escalation of the rhetoric in the crisis following the downing of Flight MH17, the Prime Minister compared the behaviour of the Kremlin regime to that of the Nazis in the run up to the Second World War. "Those of us in Europe should not need to be reminded of the consequences of turning a blind eye when big countries bully smaller countries," he told a hushed Commons.

Europe must send a "clear signal" that Russia´s support for pro-Moscow separatist rebels in eastern Ukraine cannot be allowed to continue in the wake of the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has said. Arriving in Brussels for talks with EU foreign ministers, Mr Hammond made clear that Britain was determined to secure agreement on a fresh package of sanctions aimed at ratcheting up the pressure on President Vladimir Putin. David Cameron has warned other European countries they must all ‘share the burden’ of imposing tougher sanctions on Russia. [Snip] Foreign ministers from across the EU meet in Brussels today to discuss imposing sanctions on named companies and individuals, but Britain wants to go further with embargos on dealings with the Russian defence, banking, energy and aviation industries. Mr Cameron is at the forefront of efforts to increase the economic punishment imposed on Russia for ‘fomenting’ the conflict in neighbouring Ukraine. He insists Russia ´needs European markets far more than we need Russian markets´ and has warned it would be

The town of Reus in the Catalan province of Tarragona has become the first in Spain to ban the wearing of full-face veils in public, a move which follows a judgment on July 1 by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) which found that a French law banning the wearing of the veil did not breach the Convention on Human Rights. The Strasbourg judges said the French ban was justified because of respect for life in society: "The barrier raised against others by a veil concealing the face in public could undermine the notion of ´living together,´" the judges said. For the first time in 1,600 years, Mass is not being said in Mosul: an ancient culture has been wiped out in a matter of weeks. It´s a war crime that, strangely, no one seems to want to talk about. Mosul is the second-largest city in Iraq and the place where many Christians believe Jonah was buried. Since the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (Isis) rode into town, their faith has been forced underground. Bells have been silenced, the hijab enforced with bullets. Tens of thousands fled after being offered an unattractive choice: convert, pay a religious tax, or be

Some truths CNN reveals only accidentally. One such truth Anderson Cooper shared on the night of July 17. In speaking about the shoot down of Malaysian airliner MH 17 earlier that day, Cooper referred back to “July 17, 1996, when TWA Flight 800 was shot down off the coast of Long Island in New York.” (snip)wo days earlier, Cooper hosted a CNN special report on the subject, “Witnessed: The Crash of TWA Flight 800.” To understand the depth of media-government complicity, it is useful to compare “Witnessed” with two prior videos. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy wasn’t out to make news when he addressed the annual conference of the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and devoted most of his 50-minute speech to the Magna Carta, which turns 800 years old in 2015. But Kennedy did let on that he doesn’t belong to the school of Constitution-worshipers who base their legal doctrines on what they glean to be the original, literal meaning of every word and phrase in the nation’s founding document.

So, then, what are we supposed to think when the governor of Texas dispatches National Guardsmen to the state border with Mexico in order to deflect the onrush of illegal border-crossers? What are we supposed to do? Do? A strange concept these days. Do something about the Russians and their depraved allies for shooting down a passenger plane? Do something about the depraved crowd of terrorists who provoked Israel into assaulting the tunnels in which they skulk? Convinced that their region has suffered as much Obama administration meddling as it can possibly stand, Israel and Egypt took the extraordinary step earlier this week of jointly rejecting requests by US Secretary of State John Kerry to involve himself in ceasefire talks with the terrorist group Hamas. Israeli and Egyptian diplomats both claim Egyptian efforts to mediate a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas collapsed as a direct result of Secretary Kerry’s announcement he was prepared to join the talks. He apparently made the announcement without first consulting either of the parties. The diplomats are convinced that their own

A pernicious, little-known Obama administration policy – one that that incentivizes adult illegal immigrants to use children as human shields to escape arrest and deportation at the border – largely has escaped the media’s notice. This same policy is driving the historic surge of children at the border, as everyone from coyotes to illegal immigrant adults already in America seeks to use children to guarantee their safe passage into the country, or to protect them from deportation if they are illegally living here. The flood of illegal immigrant children, piling up like human debris on the US border, won’t stop

On Monday, DREAMers stormed the halls of Congress to stage a "GOP funeral" in front of the offices of Republican senators, some of whom have expressed concerns that President Barack Obama´s unilateral grants of temporary amnesty have caused the current border crisis. Pro-amnesty activists from United We Dream dressed in black and marched around with a mock casket that had these words emblazoned on it: "RIP GOP." They held flowers and started chanting and singing, "We shall overcome." Sen.
