The media is drafting Elizabeth
Warren to run in 2016

Hot Air, by Noah Rothman

When asked just how vulnerable former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is to a challenge from her left, the Acela Corridor’s political class is quick to note that 2016 is not 2008. They observe that the factors which made Clinton vulnerable to a challenge from then Sen. Barack Obama in 2008 simply do not exist today. For example, those grounded political reporters say, the former secretary is wildly popular among Democrats. They cite polling data which shows the former secretary leading her most likely challenger – the sitting Vice President of the United States – often by more than 30 points. Finally, they

Beware! the media "drafted" BO, too.

Warren is an inexperienced legislator, but an experienced BS artist.

If Elizabeth Warren runs in 2016, she needs to start immediately. She is an unknown except on the east coast and, perhaps in La La land out west. It should not be difficult for the republicans to start a campaign against this do-nothing left wing nut even if the media loves her. She´s the wrong color and an arm-waving shrieking female does not exactly bring us any confidence that she knows what she is talking about. We already have that in Hillary.

I don´t think Blacks will be terribly motivated to turn out for either of those candidates. In a sane time, you put any of the reasonable Republican men up against either of those 2 women, you have a Reagan/Mondale landslide. But these are not sane times.

Employers won’t hire her. She’s been berated with epithets like “dirty Jew.” Federal agents have guarded her house because of death threats. And she’s spent hundreds of thousands of dollars defending herself against accusations she orchestrated a coverup in a scandal that has come to represent everything Americans hate about the IRS. Lois Lerner is toxic — and she knows it. But she refuses to recede into anonymity or beg for forgiveness for her role in the IRS tea party-targeting scandal. “I didn’t do anything wrong,” Lerner said in her first press interview since the scandal broke 16 months ago. “I’m

The United Nations Climate Summit will begin in New York this Tuesday, but environmental activists didn’t wait. All day Sunday, they filled the streets of Manhattan for a march that featured Al Gore, New York City mayor Bill de Blasio, and various Hollywood actors. But they certainly didn’t act like a movement that was winning. There was a tone of fatalism in the comments of many with whom I spoke; they despair that the kind of radical change they advocate probably won’t result from the normal democratic process. It’s no surprise then that the rhetoric of climate-change activists has become increasingly

If Republicans take control of the Senate as expected in November, President Obama may need to stock up on ink for his veto pen. The emboldened new Senate Republican majority will likely pass a flurry of bills aimed at dismantling Obama´s signature healthcare law, environmental regulations aimed at climate change, and executive orders on subjects both big and small. Obama, who has wielded his veto pen just twice since entering the Oval Office, would find himself in a vastly changed political landscape. Among other things, Republicans would force the president to either veto or compromise on rolling back parts of Obamacare, approving the

Gen. Michael Nagata is promising to build a new force to destroy ISIS, but lawmakers worry he has been given an impossible mission. As lawmakers prepared to take a risky and fateful vote on Obama’s plan to train and equip the Syrian rebels, the man who assured them it could be done was Gen. Michael Nagata, Obama’s point man for the mission to build an ISIS-killing army in Syria. There are skeptics both inside and outside the government who doubt Obama’s new plan to arm the Syrian rebels can work. First of all, the administration has said for years that the moderate

The Rick Scott and Charlie Crist campaigns in Florida and the groups that support each of them have an almost incomprehensible amount of money. Experts predict $150 million or more will be spent this year to influence the choice of Florida’s next governor. Most of these millions are being spent on TV attack ads that grossly exaggerate the perfidy of the incumbent governor and of the former governor who would like his office back. (Of course it’s a real challenge to exaggerate the inconstancy and vacuousness of Crist. I’m not even sure it can be done. But perfidy is something else.) Ads

My seventh-grade son recently wrote a U.S. History paper extolling the virtues of President Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal. “It ended the Great Depression,” he wrote with great certainty. He’s only 12 and parroting what the history texts and his teachers told him. That’s his excuse. What’s Ken Burns’? Mr. Burns’ docudrama on the Roosevelts — for those who weren’t bored to tears — repeats nearly all the worn-out fairy tales of the FDR presidency, including what I call the most enduring myth of the 20th century, which is that FDR’s avalanche of alphabet-soup government programs ended the Great Depression. We understand why the family of one of the newsmen ISIS beheaded last month is bitter over Washington’s refusal to pay ransom to win his release. Images emerging from the Middle East of beheadings and mass executions by the radical Islamic extremist group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) are profoundly troubling. With the United States and its allies now committed to the fight against this rising threat, we have to take into account the result, which is the potential for an increased threat of an ISIS-inspired attack in New York. The recent call by ISIS on social media urging its followers to attack popular locations overseas such as Times Square only heightens this concern. Some say not to worry about ISIS as a
