6 questions about the IRS’s
missing emails, from IT experts

Washington Post, by Josh Hicks

Original Article

Did the IRS intentionally lose e-mails to cover up potentially incriminating communications relating to the agency’s targeting controversy, or did the records go missing because of bad technology management? As for the latter question, few organizations are in a better position to make an assessment of the situation than the International Association of Information Technology Asset Managers, which deals with these types of issues on a regular basis. The group, which runs the only worldwide certification program for IT asset managers, released six questions on Monday that it thinks lawmakers and federal investigators should ask about the missing e-mails of

Intentionally destroying evidence by deleting hard drives and then destroying them, and intentionally spoliating evidence at a crash site to destroy evidence, differ in degree, but not in the self-interested guile of those involved.

No, I´m sorry. This set of questions not only doesn´t begin to cover the key issues, it misses the focus entirely.

I´ve been in IT all of my adult life. I have never seen a situation that so obviously screams "intentional destruction with conspiracy to cover up" as this.

Forget the hard drives. Focus on the servers and the backup protocols and storage sequences for those servers. It is absolutely inconceivable to any IT professional that there is no trace of those emails from even a minimal chain of backup sequences.

And the fact that there were 6 other hard drive failures for Lerner´s main contacts is a near-zero probability. A classic case of spoliation...deliberate, criminal destruction of evidence. Everyone involved in the handling of those drives and those servers is potentially criminally culpable.

I agree with #2 but I have not seen a corporate email system kept on an individual´s computer. They are kept on a email server which is, unless you are completely incompetent, backed up. Financial systems are handled especially carefully. "Lois Lerner´s" personal system crashing would not lose email.

I also agree that the likelihood of all people related to these investigations also crashing is inconceivable. If these are missing, they were deliberately destroyed and should be taken as evidence of criminal activity.

When BO said there wasn´t a smidgen of corruption he meant they had wiped out all the evidence. Your federal government at work taking care of you (by throwing you under the bus).

Its takes a lot of hard work to delete emails from every possible server it might be found on. Obviously they have been working on cleaaning the emails out for months and just by asking stupid questions about a hard drive proves the coverup includes the media like the WP.

I worked for a very large company and as others have said, no mail was stored on a client computer. If the client computers burned up, new computers would still have access to all the email.

100% certain that they are lying and covering up. The e-mail were very likely stored on an external e-mail server, and typically these files have multiple backups.

This whole story is NOT credible, and there needs to be a serious investigation and people need to be fired and jailed for obstruction of justice.

Democratic strategist Joe Trippi said on Sunday that it would be a "miracle" if Democrats manage to fend off a Republican takeover of the U.S. Senate come Nov. 4. "I would gauge that Republicans are likely to pick up between five and eight seats," Trippi said on Fox News Sunday. Trippi added, "I don´t think there are anybody within any of those races who believes they are not going to be in the GOP hands in November." Trippi said a favorable outcome for Democrats would be a scenario wherein they lose just five Senate seats. The Democratic strategist noted that

An unusual Republican proposal makes medical sense, kind of. Let it never be said that Republicans are fighting a Forever War on contraception. In several states, Republican candidates are calling for more birth control—on demand and sold right next to the Tylenol. "The pill ought to be available over the counter, round the clock, without a prescription,” says Colorado’s Cory Gardner in a new campaign ad. For the GOP candidates supporting this measure, it’s a way to woo women voters while sidestepping Obamacare’s mandate that companies cover birth control on their health-insurance plans—and that health plans offer the pills without

The presumed presidential candidate´s speeches are long on pablum and short on content. This is the campaign we´re in for. Everywhere Hillary Clinton goes, a thousand cameras follow. Then she opens her mouth, and nothing happens. Clinton made a much-ballyhooed appearance in Iowa over the weekend, giving a speech widely noted for its substancelessness. At least eight Ebola aid workers and journalists were reportedly murdered and dumped in a latrine in a remote village in Guinea in a frightening example of the growing distrust locals have of foreigners coming to help stem the mushrooming health crisis. These deaths are believed to be the first resulting from resistance to international efforts to curb the Ebola outbreak in the region, Reuters reported. Other aid teams have been forced to turn back by crowds in several locations, and a treatment center in Monrovia, Liberia was attacked and looted. Villagers in an area near the city of Nzerekore

It was once said, “religion is designed to comfort the afflicted and to afflict the comfortable.” Jesus’ parables – short stories with moral lessons – were likewise designed to afflict, to draw us in but leave us uncomfortable. These teachings can be read as being about divine love and salvation, sure. But, their first listeners – first century Jews in Galilee and Judea – heard much more challenging messages. Only when we hear the parables as Jesus’ own audience did can we fully experience their power and find ourselves surprised and challenged today. Here are four examples of Jesus’ teachings that everybody gets wrong: 1.

I know a lot of people are giddy at the prospect of Republicans taking the Senate this November, but that’s becoming less and less likely. It’s not because Democrats are rallying around a particular mission or set of candidates; it’s because Republicans and conservatives aren’t. It seems like I’m always writing on issues no one wants to hear are mistakes, such as messaging or social issues. But I don’t care. These things have to be said. If these columns are received like a gaseous cousin on a long car trip through the desert, so be it. Crack a window… If things continue on their current course, the GOP will not retake the Senate.

Washington - The Secret Service is coming under intense scrutiny after a man who hopped the White House fence made it all the way through the front door before being apprehended. President Barack Obama and his daughters had just departed the White House on Friday evening when an intruder scaled the north fence, darted across the lawn and into the presidential residence, where agents nabbed him. The security breach triggered a rare evacuation of much of the White House, with Secret Service officers drawing their guns as they rushed staffers and journalists out a side door.

Three and a half months have come and gone and the Pentagon has offered no clarity on what happened to alleged Army deserter and Taliban collaborator Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. Fellow soldiers and other critics fear the military’s now-delayed investigation is shaping up to be a whitewash. The case has become a political powder keg for President Obama. Since he traded five imprisoned Taliban leaders for Bergdahl, the US Government Accountability Office has declared the swap illegal, and nearly two dozen House Democrats have joined Republicans in officially condemning the move for making “Americans less safe.”
