Ted Cruz’s Cunning Response
to the Border Crisis: End DACA!

Slate, by Dave Weigel

It dropped last night and it´s unlikely to pass, but Sen. Ted Cruz injected himself into the border crisis like Paul Stanley rising out of a stage elevator at the start of a KISS show. True, Cruz is the elected U.S. senator from the state with the greatest current influx of child migrants. But his colleague, Sen. John Cornyn, was trying to get a coalition together for a small bill reversing the 2008 child trafficking provision that created a special processing system for migrants from Central America.* Cruz is going for a full defunding of President Obama´s Deferred Status for Childhood

Our Senator makes more sense than almost anyone else in DC. The anti-American democrats and the milquetoast elites won´t like this, but normal Americans will love it!

As in the headline acronym, it should be Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Not "Status".

Cruz has a good idea. A lot of Obie´s executive actions should die due to lack of funds. He is an irresponsible person, a loose cannon in the WH.

Senator Ted Cruz knows what is going on.

Rather than go after the root cause of the problem-- Obama´s end-run unconstitutional executive "order" to provide de facto AMNESTY because the demonrat;s "dream act" failed--fellow Senator Cornyn is trying to make another "DEAL" to keep those people here while trying to keep others from coming.

Any sort of "deal" that even offers a glimer of a chance that these people can come and not be sent back, will just bring more people here. Any kind of AMNESTY or "fast-track" deal is NOT going to stem the tide.

We do not have the infrastructure to take this on. We cannot even run things well as it is right now! Cruz´s father leaving Cuba makes him well aware of the greatness of this country. Being over run with refugess in an invasion does not make sense.

This would never have come to pass without the president´s DACA program, and the blind support by big business and spineless republicans, who act like a deer in the headlights.

There are so many of these "children" who are close to voting age, and certainly many of them unskilled and uneducated who would take jobs AWAY from US citizens who are unskilled and uneducated.

The media hates his guts, but I stand with Ted Cruz. His defunding tactic may be the only way to stop the misuse of execitive power, if he can get enough strength in numbers to show some support against it.

" Why introduce it, if it won´t pass? "
Another Cruz rope a dope.
Republicans have only 45 seats in the Senate and nothing he or any Senate Republican proposes
will make it past Harry Reid.
Which is fine, if only Cruz stopped there.
His next step is then to turn around and tell naive audiences that it was " the gutless Republicans " who
refused to stand with him and stop.. fill in the blank.
FTA- " It´ll be dead easy to tell Texas (and Iowa) crowds that he wanted to kill the border crisis
at the root, but mushy Republicans failed to stand with him."
Low information base voters will always
buy Cruz´s lies.
The fault likes with Harry Reid and his Democrat Senate majority , but, it´s so much easier for Cruz and the Tea Party and talk radio to blame Republicans.
Especially when the base is so gullible.

"True, Cruz is the elected U.S. senator from the state with the greatest current influx of child migrants(and thus actually KNOWS something about the issues). But...". In 2000, Weigel voted for Ralph Nader, and served as a Delaware college elector for Nader. In 2004, Weigel voted for John Kerry. Weigel later wrote that "[he regrets] the Nader vote, but not the Kerry vote, as a weak Democratic president with a conservative Congress would have been pretty tolerable in retrospect". He voted for Jack Ryan in the Illinois United States Senate election, 2004 Republican primary. Since early 2007, Weigel has been a registered Republican in the Washington, D.C. area, in order to vote for Ron Paul at the Republican primary stage of the 2008 presidential election. In 2008, Weigel voted for Barack Obama, explaining "I really don’t think McCain has the temperament to be President or the interest in standing up to a Democratic Congress... I’ve got the luxury of a guilt-free, zero-impact vote in the District of Columbia, which I would cast for Bob Barr if he was on the ballot". In January 2011, Weigel stated that he has voted for Republican Patrick Mara on elections to the Council of the District of Columbia, and that he has voted for Mara "every time he´s been on the ballot." He confirmed this in April 2011. In the Republican Party presidential primaries 2012, Weigel voted for Jon Huntsman, despite him having withdrawn from the race, because "If you looked past his whiff of a tax plan (Huntsman recommended using the flat rates that Simpson and Bowles recommended not using), the guy had a few good ideas." In the 2012 general election, Weigel voted for Gary Johnson."

#13: I think your hatred may be coloring your view of things. Cruz likes to make Republicans and Dems from red states uncomfortable for going along with Harry Reid and Obama. I think that´s a great pursuit and possibly the only chance the Republicans have to be positively effective.

As for Beck, I don´t really see much strategy in it. Cruz doesn´t have as much access as he should have because the Feds are pushing out all the lawmakers and letting them see only what they approve.

Hate does make some people blind. If only Cruz had hosted more coffees instead of selfishly putting himself out there to fight the totalitarian wave of the Dems/GOP. Shame on him. /s

At what point do we actually get serious about applying direct personal pressure on illegals? Not sure what the initial "pressure" would be, but currently illegals are accepted and even welcomed once they are here. When do we start doing things like picketing every fast food joint that is staffed by illegals and refusing to get our roof replace by a crew of obviously illegal workers? Anyone ever tell their neighbor that has an illegal working for them that they are unhappy about it? There is currently little or no "disapproval" or social rejection of illegals working in the US by most people, once it gets personal.

Every time we let these illegals work for us and do not object and REFUSE TO GIVE OUR MONEY to the businesses that hire them, we are supporting illegal immigration.

Senator Cruz is fighting an uphill battle when he proposes legislation. Legislation that is virtually doomed to fail because the dems won´t vote for it, and the RINOs won´t vote for it.

At least he IS tying to stand for principle and not sitting on his hands!!! Many see this as drawing attention to himself and it may be, but at least he is still trying to fight against this "immigration reform" which is nothing but AMNESTY.

How about taking care of US citizens and the sovereignty and national security of our nation FIRST?

Unfortunately even if the Democrat Lite Party gets really lucky and does not have a couple of numbskull candidates that the liberal media can sucker into making some comments about how a woman´s body reacts to being raped, chances are that even if they win control of the US Senate and the White House that DACA will be there, as the Democrat Lite Party has little or no record of ever rolling back any big liberal Democrat social initiatives such as DACA in the past.

The shifting politics of foreign policy has scrambled the calculations for both parties ahead of the November elections. It has put some Senate candidates, unaccustomed to talking about national security issues, in an uncomfortable position, while elevated others with military experience and foreign policy bona fides. Candidates´ past votes, comments and even their biographies are emerging as huge opportunity in key Senate races, while emerging as glaring vulnerabilities in others. Rape is a vicious crime, one that disproportionately affects poor women and incarcerated men, but Barack Obama knows his voters, and so his recent remarks on the subject were focused not on penitentiaries, broken families, or Indian reservations but on college campuses, where the despicable crime is bound up in a broader feminist Kulturkampf only tangentially related to the very real problem of sexual violence against women. The subject is a maddening one. President Obama repeated the endlessly reiterated but thoroughly debunked claim that one in five women will be sexually assaulted in her college years. A handful of tight races in states with quirky election laws make for the possibility that Election Day will come and go without deciding which party controls the Senate. If that happens, brace for a fierce runoff election and possible recounts that could make for an ugly holiday season in politics and government. The main reason for uncertainty: Louisiana´s election laws. Strategists in both parties say a Dec. 6 runoff is likely because Democratic Sen. It was once said, “religion is designed to comfort the afflicted and to afflict the comfortable.” Jesus’ parables – short stories with moral lessons – were likewise designed to afflict, to draw us in but leave us uncomfortable. These teachings can be read as being about divine love and salvation, sure. But, their first listeners – first century Jews in Galilee and Judea – heard much more challenging messages. Only when we hear the parables as Jesus’ own audience did can we fully experience their power and find ourselves surprised and challenged today. Here are four examples of Jesus’ teachings that everybody gets wrong: 1.
