Shamiya Adams was sitting on a bedroom floor in her best friend´s home, making s´mores after an evening of practicing a dance routine, when the shot ripped through the house in Garfield Park. The bullet crashed through the wall of the bedroom and struck the 11-year-old in the head. She was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where family kept an overnight vigil until the girl was pronounced dead at 7:33 a.m. today. Chicago needs more control of guns. Certainly needs some more fire arms control laws.

To be fair, the people in those neighborhoods are outraged. Every night the 10pm news opens with flashing lights, crime scene tape, and weeping relatives.

So many innocents, from kids to working people, college students, and the elderly, are casualties of these thugs who can´t shoot straight. They rarely seem to hit each other .

Yes, the community voted themselves into this situation...but so many now know nothing else.

Instead of blaming the guns...lock these thugs up. Institute "stop and frisk. "Mandatory sentences of at least 5 years for simply carrying an illegal weapon. Using it? 25 years...Murder?...life. And stick with it.

The community is ready to accept these laws now. Too many good people are dying.

Chicago now has more deaths than our military in Afghanistan and Iraq together. Chicago is #1 in the country for murders. Nice job Emanuel. Let´s elect more demonrats so every city in the country they can vie for that #1 prize.

You are probably generally aware of the situation in Kansas, where long-time (and not very inspiring) Senator Pat Roberts survived a primary challenge by insurgent Milton Wolf, but was badly weakened for the general election. The Democrats shrewdly talked their endorsed candidate out of the race, and instead are coalescing behind “independent” candidate Greg Orman. Kansas voters surely would not elect Orman if they knew that doing so would keep Harry Reid in place as Majority Leader, but Orman’s “independent” stance is confusing quite a few Kansans. It shouldn’t. On Monday, Orman came out of the closet by endorsing the

The resulting opinion concluded that an individual may strike or omit the words “So help me God” from an enlistment or appointment oath if preferred.
