Parents of former POW
Bergdahl strained by his silence

SALMON Idaho - Freed war prisoner Bowe Bergdahl has not yet reached out to his parents who campaigned hard for his freedom and who hold out hope he will eventually contact them once fully recovered from trauma inflicted by his Taliban captors, a family friend said on Friday. Stefanie O´Neill, who is in regular contact with Bergdahl´s mother, said the U.S. soldier´s parents were strained both by their son´s silence since his May 31 release and because of death threats being investigated by the FBI. "Bob and Jani are under more strain than ever, but they are trying to be patient," O´Neill

As previous poster states, when´s the book due out? The old man´s as creepy as the kid. Mom? She´s gotta be on a natural high or some sort of meds.

And meanwhile, in what has become the patented formula for this administration, the court martial is being "slow walked" I am sure on orders from the White House. He should have been before the firing squad by now. This is such an insult to those killed and maimed looking for him and their families. Those families did not get WH visits and hugs from the King.

FTA: ...he will eventually contact them once fully recovered...
How and when does one ever fully recover from the alleged traumatic experience that we´ve been told he endured?
Something isn´t right about this and hasn´t been since he purportedly went AWOL. The family was kept advised of his condition while in captivity with regular high level government briefings, and yet suddenly they now have to sit on the sidelines in pain and isolation wondering how their son is doing while back at work in the US?

After deserting and getting his fellow soldiers killed, Bergdahl returns home, is promoted to Sergeant, given a new job, and $350K back pay -- all by Obama and the new Army. Bergdahl, encouraged by his prior successes, deserts and betrays his family. Bergdahl may be the only one remaining that has a job in Obama´s new army, as those that have served their county, advanced to captains, are being let go.

Where is the evidence that Bergdahl was held against his will or that he was mistreated in any way? He looked well, if a little gaunt, when he met the U.S. helicopter and had accomplished the extraordinary feat, given the circumstances, of having his head fully attached to his neck.

U.S. military engagement on Islamic State may alter the political calculus for this year’s midterms, but the potential impacts may reach beyond the next few months and into 2016, thanks to a shift among tea party supporters. In September 2013, 64% of tea party supporters said they believed taking military action against “the Syrian government” was not in the national interest. In this latest survey, 68% of tea party supporters said they believe talking military action against “ISIS in Iraq and Syria” is in the national interest. That shift is much bigger than the change among the county as a whole. In 2013, 47% of Americans said they

There is an old story, probably apocryphal, about a meeting of the Southern Historical Society in the years after the Civil War. The topic was Gettysburg — what mistakes, large or small, did the Confederates make that led to the Southern defeat? The debate was heated and furious. Tempers were at the boiling point. Finally, one of the participants turned to George Pickett of “Pickett’s Charge” fame. “George,” he said, “you were there. Why did we lose the battle?” to which Pickett replied, “I always thought the Yankees had something to do with it.” This anecdote reflects a historiographical debate about the Civil War in general.

At a Labor Day rally in Milwaukee, President Obama turned the limelight on himself, approvingly and inaccurately. “By almost every measure,” he declared, “the American economy and the American workers are better off than when I took office.” In contrast to Mr. Obama’s self-congratulatory assertion, the Census Bureau reports that median household income in the United States, adjusted for inflation, is down by more than $2,000 since Obama’s first inauguration in January 2009. Austin - A dispute over Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis´ book tour intensified Thursday as her Republican opponent, Greg Abbott, accused her in a formal complaint of violating state election laws. In a filing with the Texas Ethics Commission, Abbott campaign manager Wayne Hamilton alleges that Davis, a state senator from Fort Worth, "converted political contributions to her personal use" in violation of state law. The state ethics commission investigates alleged ethics violations by officeholders and candidates, and can levy fines or refer charges against violators if complaints are validated.

Supporters of President Barack Obama, such as one of his campaign donors Robert Deitrick, an Ohio financial advisor often quoted in Forbes and elsewhere, insist that the Obama economy has been much more robust than Ronald Reagan’s. Are they right? Let’s look at some numbers. President Reagan entered office in a period of high inflation which was stamped out by high interest rates that in turn led to the 1982 recession. His job-creation record after that may fairly be termed outstanding: nearly 20 million more Americans were employed when he left office than when the recession ended. Qua speech, Barack Obama’s address Wednesday on the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria was surprisingly terrible: a disorganized mess, insincere and unconvincing. To appreciate just how bad and bizarre it was, compare the president’s speech announcing a new air campaign in Iraq and Syria to Dwight Eisenhower’s 1958 statement on his decision to intervene in Lebanon with 14,000—14,000!—troops. The statement contains no chest-thumping about America’s leadership in science and medicine. No pivot to the auto industry and medical research. Body odour is among 52 criteria that officials at San Diego International Airport use to judge taxi drivers. Cabbies say that smacks of prejudice and discrimination. It does discriminate between cabbies who smell like an open sewer and those who don’t. It further prejudges what a good smell is.
