Richard Branson on the right to die:

Richard Branson has become the latest famous face to lend his support to the campaign for an assisted dying law. The Virgin entrepreneur took to Twitter to voice his support for Lord Falconers´ bill, that proposes allowing doctors to prescribe a lethal dose to terminally ill patients judged to have less than six months to live. “An assisted dying law would not result in more people dying, but in fewer people suffering,” he posted, adding a link to his blog on the Virgin.com website. “Watching a loved one suffer over a long and drawn-out period can be utterly devastating,” he writes. “However, this isn’t about relatives of loved ones making the

I have a girlfriend who was diagnosed with fibromyalgia who just thinks the world of Richard Branson, probably because of a second career working in the travel industry. I hope she doesn´t take his advice. This is sure to score big with the liberal thinkers.

El Jefe will soon say, "And if we don´t get enough of you taking the assisted dying route, we in the gubmint will "assist" you! Just make your way in an orderly manner to these cattle cars; they are merely a short-range transportation to more-luxurious accommodations, showers available!"

Libs sure do like knocking people off. As #2 aptly put it, before they´re born and as soon as possible afterwards.

If you want to live you better stay on your feet and off the government radar. They´re just looking for reasons to end your "suffering".

Were there a way to keep the government out of this, I would agree with Branson. One has only to watch a loved one suffering with intractable pain, kept alive interminably on machines when there is no hope of survival, to understand that there must be a more humane way for the patient to make a decision while he or she is still of sane mind to take his or her own life with the assistance of a competent physician.

Everyone´s worst nightmare is dying a long and painful death or watching a loved one do likewise and being helpless to relieve the suffering. Were I in such a situation, I would want to be put out of my misery painlessly and mercifully by any technology available.

The danger, however, is letting this kind of mercy killing get into the wrong hands. Also, Christians are not permitted to take their own lives.

Everyone wants to die with dignity and with as little pain and suffering as possible. Everyone wants to die in their sleep, but this is not usually the case. It is understandable to want to find a way out of this happening to oneself or to a loved one.

I have to break ranks with the posts thus far on this matter.

It is true that more people wouldn´t die, because the death rate would remain exactly the same as it always has been: 100 percent.

But euthanasia/assisted suicide could not be kept "in the right hands." In the Netherlands, where it is legal, children can now being put to death at their parents´ behest, and even request it "on their own" -- as if a child could understand what is at stake. In an effort to avoid suffering, we will kill thousands before their time, even those who are not incurable, because they are temporarily depressed or are being pressured by others to stop being a nuisance. If you think this will not happen, you do not know human nature.

Death is not a medical treatment or any kind of "cure." It is simply death. Final, permanent, irrevocable. We are not God, and we should leave His decisions to Him.

Some people may think this is unChristian of me. But.....I am not entirely against this. Not to say that it should be available to people who are not in their right frame of mind or even not right in the head. Those areas must be controlled but alas, in this world, just like everything else the LEFT has done to poison the best of things, they´ll use it for pure evil. Anyway, back to my point....Say a doc says I have incurable cancer. I would NOT opt for treatment. No, I would choose to suffer with it until the Lord would take me home......but on the other hand, if that option was available to just put me to sleep so I didn´t have to suffer, I would take it in this circumstance where I had no other choices. It´s okay for animals and merciful but not for us? It´s okay to shoot a horse instead of allowing it to suffer but not us? We just cannot say yes or no to this...it´s a complicated issue. If I were in leadership in this country, I most likely would NOT allow it because at this time in our history...we have way too many people who are seriously depressed and would use it unwisely. .

#6 is right, the trouble is government. In assisted dying, as in many activities, the government would steadily take over.

And amazingly enough every single decision would benefit the government agency making the decision. The wishes or views of the patient, medical personnel, and the family would have no weight.

There is no reason to believe that won´t happen; I sense a new Human Right coming; State Bestowed Death.

THE PROBLEM WITH LAWS LIKE THESE BARBARIANS WOULD L8KE IS THAT THEY ARE UNIVERSAL, NOT INDIVIDUAL. ASK YOURSELVES, WHY WOULD WE MAKE A LAW THAT ALLOWS ANOTHER TO DECIDE THAT YOU DIE IF YOU ARE AN INNOCENT. DEATH COMES WHEN IT COMES AND THERE ARE PALIATIVES THAT MAKE LIFE COMFORTABLE UNTIL YOU DIE.

I HAD A 97 YEAR OLD UNCLE WHO WAS READY TO DIE; THE NURSE APPROACHED ME AND SAID THAT HE CAN ADMINISTER A LETHAL DOSE OF MORPHINE. I SAID, "HE WILL DE ON HIS OWN IN GOD´S TIME". HE DID DIE ONLY A FEW DAYS LATER. LIFE TAKES IT´S NATURAL COURSE.

When Steubenville High School’s Big Red football team kicks off its season Thursday night in Ohio, wide receiver Ma’lik Richmond is expected to take to the field. One of two football players convicted of raping a teenage girl in a case that made headlines around the globe, Mr. Richmond served a year in a juvenile detention facility and must register as a sex offender. As he and his teammates suit up, questions loom: What’s the right balance between punishment and having the chance to get back on track in life? Given the images showing crass indifference toward the victim, and the failure by some adults to respond appropriately,
