It costs $500K to let your kids

A mogul spent six figures to win lunch for two with Bill and Hillary Clinton at a charity auction benefiting the Clinton Foundation — but when the winner asked to bring his two kids along, he was told he’d have to double his bid to $1 million. Spies said Charitybuzz CEO Coppy Holzman was talking about the recent Clinton auction hosted by his Web site at a swanky Hamptons Magazine party for ArtHamptons last Friday. One witness said Holzman regaled guests with a tale that “lunch for two with Bill and Hillary went for $500,000 to benefit the Clinton Foundation.” And the

It is all about how to raise more money for the Clinton War Chest. $500K is way over the legal limits for direct donations, so this and $250K speeches (which are paid for by unnamed donators and not the site) are just alternative ways to get around the law. What else can you expect from the Clintons?

Is it $500K to have dinner with the Clintons or is it $500K you will need to spend on therapy and deprogramming them afterwards?

Wait, I take it back , if it were free I would use the time to let them know what I thought of them.

The absurdity of the idea that Bill and Hill have the audacity to expect anyone to pay $500K to have dinner with them is surpassed only by the fact that there are severely demented individuals out there who would actually fork over the price!!

Think how many starving people could be fed with $500K!!

We Won’t Have Eric Holder

Attorney General Eric Holder announced his resignation this morning. He will stay on until a successor is nominated and confirmed. Holder has been a poor Attorney General. He will be remembered for Fast and Furious, consistently stonewalling Congress, and “civil rights” activism–which, however, had little to do with civil rights. Holder promoted gay marriage, refused to defend the Defense of Marriage Act, and did his best to enable voter fraud. He was a loyal Democratic Party foot soldier–conservatives aptly called him the Obama administration’s scandal goalie–but it is hard to think of any positive accomplishment during his nearly six years in

President Obama spoke Wednesday to the United Nations General Assembly in his annual foreign policy address to the world body. Speaking after the Brazilian president but before Uganda’s leader, Obama spoke for 31 minutes on Russia, Asia, Ebola, Iran and climate change. Eighteen minutes into his speech, Obama mentioned ISIS. Then, he went on to talk about “violent extremism” (he never mentioned “Islamic extremism”). But after talking about terrorism and “taking action against immediate threats,” Obama transitioned to calling out America’s “failure” and “our own racial and ethnic tensions” in “the small American city of Ferguson, Missouri.” While humility and

Dick Cheney says it’s “outrageous” that President Barack Obama mentioned the summer’s unrest in Ferguson, Mo., while speaking about ISIL during a speech at the United Nations. “I was stunned,” the former vice president said on Wednesday during an interview on Fox News’ “Hannity.” As Obama attempted to muster support from U.N. member nations to combat extremism earlier Wednesday, he referred to the police killing of unarmed teenager Michael Brown as a way to recognize critics who point out that the U.S. has “plenty of problems within its own borders.” “In a summer marked by instability in the Middle East

Eric Holder’s office is a civil-rights shrine. At the Department of Justice building, in Washington, he conducts meetings in a vast conference room, where he sits beneath a portrait of Robert F. Kennedy, one of his predecessors as Attorney General, who used the sprawling space as his office. According to Justice Department lore, Kennedy placed his desk in this room because J. Edgar Hoover presided in a similarly sized chamber on the other side of the fifth floor. Holder put his desk in a modest room in the corner of the building, where the place of honor belongs to a

Sylvia Burwell, the new head of the Department of Health and Human Services, has managed to navigate her first 100 days in office without eliciting much attention from the media – or lawmakers. While that’s a victory of sorts for the top official of such a complex federal agency, Burwell still faces plenty of challenges. As Obamacare’s second open enrollment period approaches, millions of people have gained insurance through the health exchanges as well as through Medicaid expansion. Burwell needs to ensure this enrollment period goes far more smoothly than last year’s did when technical glitches and cancelled insurance policies were

It is baffling how James Clapper still has a job. In an interview with The Washington Post’s David Ignatius on Wednesday, the Director of National Intelligence admitted that he had completely underestimated ISIS. He didn´t anticipate how fast the Iraqi Army would fall apart, nor the “will to fight” among Islamic State troops. “I didn’t,” he somewhat lamely added, “see that.” By now, most Americans realize ISIS caught the intelligence community by surprise. Clapper and his spies also thought that the Russians wouldn’t openly invade Ukraine, which maybe they actually got right, depending on how “openly” we would say the

President Obama has written five letters to Congress informing lawmakers of American military actions against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. The first four relied entirely on the president´s constitutional authority to conduct foreign policy and command U.S. military forces. In his latest letter Tuesday, however, Obama cited two additional authorities: the authorizations Congress gave George W. Bush to use military force, first after the September 11 attacks and later for the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Obama, of course, was a fierce critic of the Iraq war and has actually advocated repeal of the Iraq authorization — before he

Persuasion used to matter in politics. A good politician was someone with the inclination — and the skill — to convince people who weren’t among his supporters to endorse his preferred policy or legislation. There are many ways to accomplish this. Lyndon Johnson operated at the retail level, so to speak. Johnson was a master at twisting arms in the Senate, and cajoling members on both sides of the aisle into forming a coalition to pass whatever legislation he wanted. In contrast, Ronald Reagan worked wholesale. He had a genius for convincing millions of voters he was right and — through
