Far From Scandal at Home, Christie
Basks in Limelight on Iowa Trip

New York Times, by Michael Barbaro

MARION, Iowa — The unspoken rules of prepresidential politics, not to mention the diplomacy of navigating a scandal, required Chris Christie to avoid any suggestion that his swing through Iowa on Thursday involved his own White House ambitions. Inside a diner here, a different reality played out. Mr. Christie, the Republican governor of New Jersey, reveled in repeated pleas to run for president, nodding as a middle-aged man here told him that he alone possessed the “rough-and-tumble style” necessary to tame Washington. “You know how to play that game,” the man said. “I do,” Mr. Christie replied. He autographed framed

It´s funny how mere imagery can convince a voter to support somebody.Christie took on this tough guy approach when he first got elected but he´s been snuggling with left wing themes ever since then.Obviously,we need a tough guy president in 2016 but it does no good f they don´t have the right guidance of being a core conservative.Just take Jindal,I think he´s a hell of aot more sincere about fixing stuff than Christie.

I really hate to burst any Christie fans´ bubbles, but America isn´t going to vote for a Jersey RINO. He has to appear at least moderately conservative for the republican voters but will naturally trend left for the democrat voters (remember? - from Jersey).

The independents, on the other hand, will watch him with moderate disgust as his true personality outshines the day´s messages.

This dog won´t hunt.

Says more about the saps in Iowa than it does about Christie.

The NH/IA lottery must go. These two states invariably get suckered by the flimsiest Music Man routines along with the locals getting geeked up because they spot Carl Cameron in town every four years. We´re on TEEVEE!

Give me a break. NH makes a mockery of its Live Free Or Die motto and Iowa´s so-called heartland sensibility isn´t.

Let´s face it, if you want to win in Iowa , you just have to promise you´ll continue to subsidize their (m)eth addiction.

I want no part of Chris Christie but it is laughable that the NYT calls the bridge thing a scandal while denying Benghazi, IRS, and the VA are scandals that can be laid at the feet of our feckless, semi-retired president.

Is the Islamic State the most effective terrorist group in history? Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis are on the move, fleeing from their brutal and barbaric practices. If they´re not the most effective terrorists in history, they may be the best since Genghis Khan and his Mongol hordes terrorized the world in the 13th century. Their practice of murdering people of minority religious sects is now well established, which has Shiites and others fleeing for their lives in northern Iraq. One such group is a small sect known as the Yazidi. Their stronghold in the north was overrun by ISIS

Word of the bombings, reported on Kurdish television from the city of Erbil, came as President Obama was preparing to make a statement in Washington. President Obama gave a press conference this evening. He started a little over an hour late without explanation. Reporters stuck to asking questions that they evidently knew Obama would be comfortable answering. None of them asked him about any of his administration scandals. ABC’s Jon Karl, usually a tough questioner of Obama and his spokesmen, asked a rambling question that played right into the Democrats’ “economic patriotism” canard. Despite the fact that the president showed a passionless, bloodless, disinterested face to the world, he still managed to do some damage. Chris Jansing of CNN asked Obama if the sanctions against Russia are working.

Forty-seven of the government´s 73 independent watchdogs known as inspectors general voiced their complaints in a letter to congressional leaders this week. They accused several major agencies -- the Justice Department, the Peace Corps and the chemical safety board -- of imposing "serious limitations on access to records." Concern about rising wealth and income inequality has generated all kinds of solutions, often focused on improving the lot of the people at the bottom with measures such as minimum wages. But instead of putting a floor on what people get, why not put a ceiling on how much they get to keep?(Snip)Suppose that people, after paying ordinary income taxes, would be allowed to keep up to, say, $500,000 of their income, then would be obliged to give away the rest to the charities of their choice or, if they like, to a charity of their own design and creation.
