Democrats´ Plan to
Create the Next Todd Akin

National Journal, by Stephanie Novack

Original Article

Democrats are not just hoping for another Todd Akin, they´re trying to create one—and they think the Supreme Court´s Hobby Lobby decision just helped them do it. Senate Democrats failed Wednesday in their bid to advance legislation that would negate the Court´s contraception-coverage decision. But while canceling out the Court was the goal, it was never the whole point. Instead, Democrats are trying to keep the national conversation focused on reproductive rights, hoping to goad Republicans into talking about the issue. The more they talk about abortion and contraception, the thinking goes, the more time will be spent on an issue where

Don´t the take the bait, Republicans. Focus on what is important to the American people, jobs and the economy, tax reform, and getting government off our backs. The only wars on anything that is worth discussing are Obama and the democrats´ war on the taxpayer, the war on our sovereignty, the war on our energy independence, the war on our health care, the war on our veterans, the war on our military, the war on education, the war on race relations, the war on our first and second amendment rights, etc. Please go on offense and beat them at their own game. Yes, there is a war going on in this country and it is being waged by Obama and the democrats against the citizens of this great country. The reality is that they OWN the casualties too. So if the democrats want to talk about waging war...oblige them.

There are already two candidates who aren´t buying the war on women narrative and taking the fight to the Dem. Ernst in Iowa and Gardner in Colorado. Republicans have to learn to control their mouths and not let the opposition go on the offensive. Single women will vote conservative if you show them how lower taxes, school choice, and a free market impact them.

ISIS, Syrian Rebels Say

The Free Syrian Army is not impressed with President Obama’s new threat to attack ISIS inside Syria. That’s like ‘tickling’ the terror group, the FSA says—and is too little, too late. U.S. airstrikes against ISIS, even if they extend into Syria as several Obama administration officials are signaling, don’t have a chance of destroying the terror group, moderate political and rebel leaders inside the country are cautioning. They have told The Daily Beast that air strikes will only make things worse unless there’s a coordinated plan to defeat ISIS. For the Free Syrian Army, the Obama administration’s recent bluster about possibly using

The IRS filing in federal Judge Emmet Sullivan’s court reveals shocking new information. The IRS destroyed Lerner’s Blackberry AFTER it knew her computer had crashed and after a Congressional inquiry was well underway. As an IRS official declared under the penalty of perjury, the destroyed Blackberry would have contained the same emails (both sent and received) as Lois Lerner’s hard drive. We all know by now that Lois Lerner’s hard drive crashed in June 2011 and was destroyed by IRS. The emails of up to twenty other related IRS officials were missing in remarkably similar “crashes,” leading many to speculate that

Vice President Joe Biden has been crisscrossing the country attending closed-door fundraisers and donor events for Democratic House candidates — but you won’t find many on his schedule. In Seattle, Biden worked a photo line at Boeing Field before taking off on Air Force Two. In New York, Biden hit up donors at a hotel in a lower Manhattan after addressing the Goldman Sachs energy conference. After a speech in a Philadelphia hotel ballroom, Biden slipped off to a separate room to meet with campaign donors. None of these side events were on the official public schedule — and they came

For many students, the unwelcome return to school is often sweetened with a shopping trip for school supplies and new clothes. Not anymore. As college, high school and grade school students begin returning to classes, the Environmental Protection Agency is urging students to use recycled material, even garbage, for their supplies and to shop at thrift stores for “retro fashions.” And don’t even think about taking more than one napkin or salt packet in the lunch line. “Buy smart! Purchase and use a wide assortment of supplies made from recycled products, such as pencils made from old blue jeans; binders made from old

Get ready for war: The Islamic State presents the greatest terrorist threat to Americans since 9/11, and fighting it will take more than airstrikes in Iraq, according to a top member of Congress and a retired four-star general. The Islamic State, also referred to as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, has vaulted in notoriety after the beheading of American journalist James Foley last week. On ABC’s This Week, Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, who chairs the Homeland Security Committee, called Foley’s murder a turning point. “I do think they present the greatest threat we’ve seen since 9/11,” McCaul said. “This has been

Someone paid the ransom that released Peter Theo Curtis from the clutches of Al Qaeda’s Syrian affiliate — if not in cash, then, likely, in benefits for the al-Nusra Front’s battle to topple Bashar Assad. The prime suspect — the only suspect — is the government of Qatar, a country whose emir has carved out an odious dual role as both a Western helpmate and friend to Islamist radicals. Overflowing with oil money, Qatar plays host to both the U.S. military Central Command’s forward headquarters and to Khaled Meshal, the top man of the Hamas terror group. It has funneled more than

If Juan Williams, a black man, were on a Fox News Sunday panel with the white Bob Woodward, Laura Ingraham and Karl Rove, all discussing the events in Ferguson, would the panel still be a “white panel”? Was 9/11, which killed hundreds of blacks and Latinos, a racist attack? We’ll never know the answer to the first question — although we know for a fact that the Rev. What is the difference between CNN and the Titanic? The only casualties from CNN’s sinking will be careers, not lives. For CNN, the bad news has hit. With no new race riots or crashing Malaysian airliners to boost ratings, CNN is back in the ratings basement again. While the normal rules of journalism may not always apply at CNN, the rules of business do. A business must bring in more money than it loses or it must make cuts. Since payroll is usually a business’ single largest expense, that is often what is first cut. At CNN and Headline News,

Terrorism thrives because many leaders make excuses for not fighting it, rather than making policies for defeating it. Here are some of the most malignant excuses: Excuse No. 1: The terror problem is exaggerated. “Osama bin Laden is dead, and al Qaeda is on the run,” President Obama said a few months before calling the terror group that now controls much of Iraq and Syria a “JV” outfit — junior varsity. We saw the same kind of analysis before 9/11. “Americans are bedeviled by fantasies about terrorism,” ex-CIA official Larry Johnson wrote in The New York Times a few weeks before the planes

They are being told that the dreadful existence of slum life grew out of slavery and is being perpetuated by hatred. None of this is true. Democrat Michelle Nunn is running ahead of David Perdue in the race for the U.S. Senate in Georgia. The WSB-TV poll found that Mrs. Nunn has 47 percent to 40 percent edge over Mr. Perdue. The libertarian candidate, Amanda Swafford, received 3 percent, and 10 percent of the respondents were undecided. The winner of the race will replace retiring Sen. Saxby Chambliss. Mrs. Nunn, the daughter of former Georgia Sen. Sam Nunn, is seen as one of Democrats best bets to flip control of a GOP-held seat. Republicans need to flip six seats to win back the Senate.

The Wisconsin Republican was addressing a passage from his new book on CBS’s “Face the Nation” in which he described last year’s push toward a government shutdown — in which House conservatives unsuccessfully tried to defund Obamacare — as a “suicide mission.” The purpose of the passage in the book is to try to unify the party, he said, noting that he held back a bit more at the time with party unity in mind. “I don’t think we can succeed if all we do is
