Moral clarity in Gaza
Washington Post, by Charles Krauthammer

Original Article

Israel accepts an Egyptian-proposed Gaza cease-fire; Hamas keeps firing. Hamas deliberately aims rockets at civilians; Israel painstakingly tries to avoid them, actually telephoning civilians in the area and dropping warning charges, so-called roof knocking. “Here’s the difference between us,” explains the Israeli prime minister. “We’re using missile defense to protect our civilians, and they’re using their civilians to protect their missiles.” Rarely does international politics present a moment of such moral clarity. Yet we routinely hear this Israel-Gaza fighting described as a morally equivalent “cycle of violence.” This is absurd. What possible interest can Israel have in cross-border fighting? Everyone

Like with their active support of obviously destructive domestic policies, the "progressive" stand on the Palestinians makes no sense until you realize the cold, shocking truth behind it: they support evil on purpose. The "progressive", given the choice between the barbarian and the civilized man will, always and invariably, choose the barbarian (or as they disingenuously call it, the "oppressed"). Behind this is the Marxist lie that "the poor are poor because the rich are rich". Supporting barbarian Hamas against civilized Israel is no different than supporting cop killers against the "1%" - "progressives" are, because of their upside-down and totally intolerant ideology, always forced to choose the wrong side: the bad.

Obama considering airstrikes
in Syria against Islamic State
Washington Times, by Dave Boyer    Original Article

President Obama is considering U.S. airstrikes in Syria against militants of the Islamic State, the White House said Friday. “We’re not going to be restricted by borders,” said Ben Rhodes, a national security adviser to the president. “We’re actively considering what’s going to be necessary to deal with that threat.” The bombing of targets in Syria would mark a significant expansion of Mr. Obama’s three-week-old air war against the Islamic State, which has been limited to targets of the militant group in northern Iraq. The U.S. has conducted nearly 100 airstrikes against the militants in Iraq since Aug. 8, and

THIS PAGE has for many years urged the local football team to change its name. The term “Redskins,” we wrote in 1992, “is really pretty offensive.” The team owner then, Jack Kent Cooke, disagreed, and the owner now, Daniel M. Snyder, disagrees, too. But the matter seems clearer to us now than ever, and while we wait for the National Football League to catch up with thoughtful opinion and common decency, we have decided that, except when it is essential for clarity or effect, we will no longer use the slur ourselves. That’s the standard we apply to all offensive

SpaceX rocket blows up over Texas

A new test rocket manufactured by Elon Musk’s upstart space company, SpaceX, blew itself up a few hundred feet over the Texas prairie after a malfunction was detected, the company said in a statement Friday evening. At its facility in McGregor, Tex., the company was testing a three-engine version of the F9R test vehicle, the successor to its reusable Grasshopper rocket, which was designed to launch and then land on the same site. “During the flight, an anomaly was detected in the vehicle and the flight termination system automatically terminated the mission,” company spokesman John Taylor said in the statement.

I’ve thought for some time that the Obama administration could look better in the rearview mirror of history than it does in the bumpy ride of the day to day. That may still turn out to be correct. Yet events of the past few months — specifically, the rise of the Islamic State and the accompanying specter of a renewed terror threat to the United States — have raised the alarming prospect of a legacy even more dismal than suggested by the current grim poll numbers. The rosier view of the historical prospects of the 44th president involves the early

The Obama administration is considering seeking congressional authorization for military action against the Islamic State under a revamped counterterrorism strategy President Obama announced last year. A mandate from Congress could provide domestic legal justification for the unlimited use of force against the Sunni Muslim group across Iraq and Syria, a senior administration official said. Congress last formally authorized such action in 2001, against al-Qaeda and its associates, and 2002, against Iraq under Saddam Hussein. The new authorization is one of several alternatives under active internal discussion as the administration grapples with whether and how to try to militarily defeat the

Rush Limbaugh said the mainstream media, as desperately as they tried, could not turn "gentle giant" Michael Brown, who was shot and killed by police officer Darren Wilson after Brown allegedly charged and beat him, into Rodney King because of today´s new media. Even though Rodney King resisted the arrest of officers who tried all they could to detain him without using force, the nation never got to see the full video. Instead, the mainstream media used an edited one-minute clip of officers brutally beating King after he charged them to fan the flames, trying to hammer home the notion

Islamic State cannot be defeated without addressing “both sides of what is essentially at this point a nonexistent border” between Iraq and Syria, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said Thursday. The United States and its allies in the Middle East and beyond need to join together to defeat the terrorist group “over time,” Gen. Martin Dempsey said. Asked whether the United States would extend its current campaign of airstrikes in Iraq into Syria, Dempsey said airstrikes were “only one small part” of what is necessary to defeat the group. “I’m not predicting those will occur in Syria,

Baghdad called President Obama’s bluff and he came through. He had refused to provide air support to Iraqi government forces until the Iraqis got rid of their divisive sectarian prime minister. They did. He responded. With the support of U.S. airstrikes, Iraqi and Kurdish forces have retaken the Mosul dam. Previous strikes had relieved the siege of Mount Sinjar and helped the Kurds retake two strategic towns that had opened the road to a possible Islamic State assault on Irbil, the capital of Kurdistan. In following through, Obama demonstrated three things: the effectiveness of even limited U.S. power, the vulnerability

When it comes to combatting ISIS, the Obama administration has precious few successes to talk about. So today it touted a failure: U.S. Special Operations forces staged an unsuccessful operation this summer to rescue photojournalist James Foley and other Americans being held in Syria by Islamic State militants, according to senior Obama administration officials. The attempt, involving several dozen U.S. commandos, one of whom was injured in a fierce firefight with the militants, was the first known U.S. ground operation in Syria since the country’s descent into civil war. Ryan, who had reportedly been working behind the scenes with Rep. In a Wednesday interview with Bloomberg News, Ryan said he supported a "path to legalization" for all of the country´s illegal immigrants. Attorney General Eric Holder said Thursday that his Justice Department is opening a criminal investigation into the brutal execution by Islamic State militants of American journalist James Foley, in the latest move by the administration to use the criminal justice system to pursue terrorists. The announcement comes as the administration steps up its airstrike campaign against the same militant organization -- and mulls additional American boots on the ground in Iraq. Holder, during remarks in Washington, confirmed the "open criminal investigation" into Foley´s beheading, which was recorded and posted online this week. "Those who would perpetrate such acts need to understand something --
