Obama to AFSCME: GOP ‘absurd’
Politico, by Sarah Smith

(Video) President Barack Obama used his Wednesday video message to the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees convention to call GOP attacks “absurd.” “That’s why it’s so absurd that Republicans in Washington are trying to blame unions for economic challenges facing working Americans,” Obama said in a pretaped video message, after praising unions. “Unions aren’t the ones blocking workers from getting a raise. Unions aren’t the ones blocking fair pay. Unions aren’t the ones blocking common sense jobs to grow the economy for everyone. And unions sure aren’t the ones cheering this week’s Supreme Court ruling that made

Unions are not the ones creating a porous border for low wage competition. Unions are not the ones opposing Keystone. Unions are not the ones creating economic uncertainty with devastating new regulations, destroying job creation. Unions are not flying door to door with air force one, blaming everyone and everything else.

WASHINGTON — Congressional investigators using fake identities were able to obtain taxpayer-subsidized health insurance under President Barack Obama’s law, according to testimony to be delivered Wednesday. The nonpartisan Government Accountability Office says its undercover investigators were able to get subsidized health care under fake names in 11 out of 18 attempts. The GAO is still paying premiums for the policies, even as the Obama administration attempts to verify phony documentation. The agency’s findings are contained in testimony to be delivered at a House Ways and Means Committee hearing Wednesday. An advance copy was provided to The Associated Press. Seto Bagdoyan,

Vitaly Nayda, Ukraine´s director of informational security, told CNN the person who shot down the flight was "absolutely" a Russian. "A Russian-trained, well-equipped, well-educated officer ... pushed that button deliberately," he said. "We taped conversations" between a Russian officer and his office in Moscow, Nayda said. Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin on Tuesday urged Walgreen Co. to reconsider a possible move of its headquarters to Switzerland to lower its U.S. tax bill. In a letter to Walgreen Chief Executive Gregory Wasson, Durbin said the company could face a backlash from its customers. “I believe you will find that your customers are deeply patriotic and will not support Walgreen’s decision to turn its back on the United States,” Durbin wrote. “Nearly all of your $2.5 billion in profits earned last year were from sales to U.S. taxpaying customers.” The senator ended his letter with a twist on Walgreen’s

The Obama administration will continue handing out Obamacare subsidies to federal exchange customers despite a federal court’s ruling Tuesday that the subsidies are illegal. A D.C. Court of Appeals panel ruled Tuesday morning that customers in the 36 states that didn’t establish their own exchange and use HealthCare.gov instead cannot be given premium tax credits, according to the text of the Affordable Care Act itself. But the White House said in response that it will continue handing out the billions of taxpayer dollars in subsidies. It is no accident that rhetoric about race has been ramping up at a time when racial politics can be the key determinant for control of the Senate this year. At least three states that have large black populations — North Carolina, Louisiana, and Arkansas — are red states with vulnerable Democrat senators up for re-election. Can racism really be as rampant in America as all the current rhetoric implies? A pernicious, little-known Obama administration policy – one that that incentivizes adult illegal immigrants to use children as human shields to escape arrest and deportation at the border – largely has escaped the media’s notice. This same policy is driving the historic surge of children at the border, as everyone from coyotes to illegal immigrant adults already in America seeks to use children to guarantee their safe passage into the country, or to protect them from deportation if they are illegally living here. The flood of illegal immigrant children, piling up like human debris on the US border, won’t stop

The 2-1 ruling said such subsidies can be granted only to people who bought insurance in an Obamacare exchange run by an individual state or the District of Columbia—not on the federally run exchange HealthCare.gov. "Section 36B plainly makes subsidies available in the Exchanges established by states," wrote Senior Circuit Judge Raymond Randolph in his majority opinion, where he was joined by Judge Thomas Griffith.
