Biden: ´Shot down, not an accident,

Washington Post, by Philip Rucker

Vice President Biden said he spoke with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko for about a half hour regarding what he called “a very tragic circumstance.” Biden said the plane was “shot down, not an accident, blown out of the sky.” Speaking shortly before a U.S. official confirmed to The Post that the plane had been shot out of the sky by a surface-to-air missile, Biden added: “We don’t have all the details yet.” Biden said the Obama administration is concerned about reports that U.S. citizens were on board the plane. “We’re now working every minute to try to confirm those reports

Biden blows it for Obama again. Obama called it a tragedy because he doesn´t want to admit it is an act of terror or a crime which he might be expected to do something about. Now Biden blows the cover on that gambit just like he pushed Obama to evolve his position on the same sex marriage.

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — Football may be back at Coachella Valley High School, but the mascot is gone. Coachella Valley Unified School District confirmed Friday that it has retired the school´s controversial Arab mascot that prompted objections from an anti-discrimination group last year. When the Coachella Valley football team takes the field against Rancho Mirage High for its season opener on Friday night, the mascot will be absent. The Arab mascot costume was a cartoonish, headscarf-wearing man with a hooked nose, a thick beard and a devilish mustache. He often appeared with a belly-dancing genie during halftime. The state Senate on Friday gave final legislative approval to a measure that would phase out single-use plastic bags in supermarkets, pharmacies and convenience stores as part of an effort to rid beaches and streets of litter. The measure, which now goes to Gov. Jerry Brown for consideration, would allow stores to charge customers 10 cents to provide paper or reusable plastic bags as an alternative to single-use bags. California would be the first state government to approve such a ban although the bags are outlawed throughout Hawaii because of local jurisdiction laws. Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Pacoima) said his bill just

As we celebrate the annual day of paid rest arbitrated into our calendar by powerful 19th century New York labor unions, we at The Daily Caller are also celebrating another milestone: We’re banned from talking to the Department of Labor. Department of Labor (DOL) Office of Public Affairs senior advisor Carl Fillichio placed TheDC as well as National Review on the department’s permanent “no-contact list” in a profanity-laden rant at a March 31 staff meeting. NEWPORT, R.I.— President Barack Obama on Friday blamed dysfunction in Congress on a Republican Party he said is captive to an ideologically rigid, unproductive and cynical faction, urging like-minded Democrats to show up for November´s midterm elections. Addressing Democratic donors at a fundraiser in Rhode Island and another in New York, Obama said Republicans had realized that blocking all progress led Americans to become cynical about government. Republicans consider that "a pretty good thing" because they don´t believe in government to begin with, Obama said.

Megyn Kelly was incredibly bewildered Thursday night at President Obama‘s comment about having no concrete Syria strategy yet. Ed Henry was very blunt in telling Kelly that this is an unqualified “disaster” for the White House. Henry admitted he was “stunned” that none of his colleagues in the briefing room followed up on that remark of the president’s, especially considering how quickly after the presser the White House jumped right into “damage control mode.” And whereas last night Henry blew Kelly’s mind by telling her Obama would be attending one fundraiser on Friday, he told her tonight that actually, it’s going to

Karl Rove is at it once again. The so-called “strategist” is again confusing strategy with tactics, and is about to blow easy Senate pickups in Arkansas and North Carolina. There is absolutely no excuse for not winning these two races. So how is the one-time “boy genius” doing this? By running ads attacking Senators Mark Pryor and Kay Hagan from the left. The last two Republican candidates for president have been among the weakest GOP candidates in 50 years. Barack Obama presented Mitt Romney with a gift in 2012: A struggling economy, sluggish growth, a paucity of jobs, and a health care law that was extremely unpopular. In what should have been a landslide rejection of Obama´s policies, Romney flubbed it big time and allowed his opponent to define him - and Republicans - in the most unflattering way imaginable. You would have hoped that Romney would have retired from the public arena and kept a low profile as other losers have done in

At least four hostages held in Syria by the Islamic State, including an American journalist who was recently executed by the group, were waterboarded in the early part of their captivity, according to people familiar with the treatment of the kidnapped Westerners. James Foley was among the four who were waterboarded several times by Islamic State militants who appeared to model the technique on the CIA’s use of waterboarding to interrogate suspected terrorists after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
