The administration just took
Obamacare away from the territories

Looking for a place where Obamacare doesn´t exist? Try moving to the U.S. Territories, where the Obama administration just provided a pretty big waiver from the law´s major coverage provisions. The Affordable Care Act´s design dealt a pretty big problem to the territories. It required insurers there to comply with the law´s major market reforms — guaranteed coverage, mandated benefits, limits on profits, etc. — without requiring residents to get coverage or providing subsidies to help afford coverage. The territories — Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands — have been

Judicial Watch just posted about a case they are appealing and one of the points is the president exceeding his authority with changes to the ACA. (Kawa Orthodontics, LLP vs. Jack Lew, et al)

The administration now knows that the country is watching and the courts will be listening. No longer will Americans remain silent while President Obama tramples over the constitutional limits on executive branch authority.

Note to LDotters. Puerto Rico has no Obamacare and no IRS. And for new residents, no capital gains tax or dividends and interest tax for 30 years, and very low property taxes. Besides, it´s gorgeous. Which is why we´re planning a move there.

Arizona Sen. John McCain, once one of the most ardent defenders of American involvement in Iraq, said Thursday that had he been President in 2003 the U.S. might never have invaded. “You’ll find this surprising,” McCain said at an event hosted by CNN and National Journal Thursday in Washington, “but I think I would have been more reluctant to commit American troops.” The 2008 Republican presidential nominee and one of the chief proponents of the Iraq surge argued that his background in the military and his experience in Washington would have led him to see through “flimsy” evidence, had he defeated former President George

House Speaker John A. A tug of war is under way for possession of doomed flight MH17´s "black box" recorder amid reports the device, which could provide the key to the crash investigation, has already been sent to Moscow. Aviation experts said the black box, comprising cockpit voice and data recordings, would establish for certain whether the plane was shot down and where the deadly missile may have been fired from. The data and voice recorders on Boeing 777s like the Malaysia Airlines one that crashed are among the most sophisticated in civilian use. The president has made it a second-term priority to tackle climate change, as Republicans routinely deny that the Earth’s temperature is warming and dramatically altering weather patterns.
