IDF ground forces began to move into the Gaza Strip on Thursday evening, the prime minister´s office confirmed. The purpose of the operation was to destroy the Gazan terror tunnels leading to Israel, according to a statement released by the prime minister´s office. "Israel is committed to act to protect its citizens. The operation will continue until its goals are reached: To bring quiet to the citizens of Israel for a long period of time, and to seriously harm Hamas and other terrorist organizations´ infrastructure in the Gaza Strip," the statement read. International pressure and the USA, specifically, forced Israelis to give up Gaza to the terrorists. Israel predicted the terrorists would use Gaza as a launch pad for rocket attacks on Israel.

I don´t think Netanyahu wanted a ground attack, but political pressure inside of Israel forced it. Hamas has to be crippled at a minimum. That´s not a criticism of Netanyahu. I believe he loves the IDF and wants to keep their casualties as low as possible. An invasion will mean dead soldiers.

General Motors recalls

General Motors (GM) is recalling an additional 717,949 vehicles due to a range of issues, including loose bolts and potentially incomplete welding on some seat hooks. The carmaker has recalled nearly 29 million vehicles this year, most due to faulty ignition switches. The recall-related repairs are expected to cost GM $1.2bn (£700m). GM was criticised for reacting too late to the switch issue, but said it was "enhancing" its approach to safety. "We are bringing greater rigor and discipline to our analysis and decision making," Jeff Boyer, vice president global vehicle safety at GM, said in a statement.

Denver - Some women are getting sick of the Democrats’ “war on women.” Take Laura Carno, who became so fed up with the nonstop “war on women” political advertising campaign in Colorado that she put together a radio ad of her own. It’s aimed at Sen. Mark Udall, a Democrat who’s pushing the theme in his re-election bid against Republican Rep. Cory Gardner. “I have to ask, Sen. Udall, why do you get your underwear all in a bundle about women and birth control?” Ms. Carno, who heads the conservative group I Am Created Equal, says in the spot. “Do you honestly think we need the government to make these choices for

Washington - The State Department´s global database for issuing travel documents has crashed, resulting in major delays for potentially millions of people around the world waiting for U.S. passports and visas, officials said Wednesday. Unspecified glitches in the department´s Consular Consolidated Database have resulted in "significant performance issues, including outages" in the processing of applications for passports, visas and reports of Americans born abroad since Saturday, spokeswoman Marie Harf said. She said the problem is worldwide and not specific to any particular country, citizenship document, or visa category.

Washington - Republican Sen. Ted Cruz on Wednesday questioned whether President Barack Obama used a federal agency to impose an economic boycott on Israel after the Federal Aviation Administration banned U.S. airline flights to Tel Aviv because of safety concerns amid fighting between Israel and Hamas. The State Department rejected Cruz´s comments as "ridiculous and offensive." "The facts suggest that President Obama has just used a federal regulatory agency to launch an economic boycott on Israel, in order to try to force our ally to comply with his foreign-policy demands," Cruz said in a statement in which he posed five

David Jolly came under withering attack in Pinellas County for coming out in support of same-sex couples´ right to wed. Jolly, a Republican like Rubio, said this week that while he personally believes marriage should be between a man and woman, he thinks Florida should allow same-sex marriage. Beijing - China has warned operators against "blindly" developing projects to turn coal into synthetic fuel, underlining the requirements needed for regulatory approval as companies rush into investments that are costly and might harm the environment. The warning, published by the National Energy Administration (NEA) on its website (www.nea.gov.cn) on Tuesday, came days after plans to produce billions of cubic metres of gas from coal were described by a top government researcher as "irrational". The government bans coal-to-gas plants that would produce less than 2 billion cubic metres a year and coal-to-oil projects smaller than one million

WASHINGTON —Polarization and partisanship are a plague on American politics. Political scientists have found that the two parties have each grown more ideologically homogeneous since the 1970s. The Senate hasn’t been so polarized since Reconstruction; the House has not been so divided since around 1900. As measured by laws passed, the current Congress is on track to be among the least productive in our republic’s history. How did this happen? One of the main causes has not gotten enough attention: the party primary system. The reasons behind the shocking primary defeat last month of Representative Eric Cantor of Virginia, who
