The Malaysia Airlines passenger jet carrying 295 people that was reportedly shot down in Ukraine Thursday is the third plane to be downed in the country this week, according to Ukrainian officials. Here is a quick breakdown of the three incidents: On Monday, a Ukrainian AN-26 military transport was shot down in the separatist stronghold of Luhansk on the Russian border, according to Ukrainian Defense Minister Valeriy Heletei. Heletei told Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenk the plane was "hit by another, more powerful missile that was probably used from the territory of the Russian Federation," the Ukrinform news agency said, citing the

Amid much uncertainty, one thing is certain:

President F.M. Davis, Jr. (no relation to Sammy!) identifies much more closely with the beliefs and aspirations of the missile-launching, barbarian savages than he identifies with the beliefs and aspirations of the 23 Americans said to be aboard the plane.

That´s right, #5. The Malaysian plane was shot down.

I just wonder how many cyber security experts were on board this plane.

Not good. Only positive thing here is that they know where this Malaysian plane is. Only question now is, was it a Putie screwup or do we have more to now worry about when flying internationally.

I have to ask because I haven´t read how anyone who doesn´t have an axe to grind knows that the plane was shot down. How do they know it wasn´t blown up internally while in flight.

Not trying to suggest I know anything, but that is the second Malaysian flight that has gone down, the other one in the water. It isn´t safe in Zippy world.

There are a lot of people right now who have had their lives destroyed. Not just the passengers and crew.

Accidental shoot down by Russian separatists in Ukraine. Meant to hit a Ukraine military plane. Apparently chatter about it at the time.

It seems certain that flying over the area is not wise. Nothing else is clear.

Can we believe any sources about this conflict. The reader´s usual dilemma about wars; some reports are true, some not.

Thousands, tens of thousands, of small ground-to-air missiles exist. And each year more groups manage to get some.

It has been said many times that Hillary Clinton’s lack of warmth and empathy cost her the 2008 Democratic candidacy. A friend of mine who is a respected editor told me that she finds her smug and cold. Before our meeting, I watched her appearance on BBC One’s magazine programme The One Show, a televisual happening that was described as “Einstein doing Play School”. I’d go one step further: it was Einstein loving every second of being on Play School. Everything Clinton was asked she responded to with charm, apparent sincerity and, most surprising of all, firecracker wit. When asked

Here’s something you don’t see every Sunday: John McCain on a television program. The senator talked to Media Buzz’s Howard Kurtz about Jon Stewart and the Iraq War, criticizing the media for painting America’s withdrawal from Iraq without a residual force as mandated by the Iraqis, which McCain said was “just wrong.” Kurtz asked if Stewart was fair to Republicans. “No,” McCain said. “But, you know, it doesn’t matter really. He’s a comedian.” “He’s also a social critical who has a sizable following among young people,” Kurtz said. (This is a longstanding point of contention with Kurtz.) “He’s a late

The year was 1969. The turbulent time in America saw troops fighting in Vietnam, and a nation dealing with the assassinations of President John F. It is at times like these, when he is pushed kicking and screaming into the crucible, that Obama’s callowness shows. For his supporters, that jejune, jocular air has been a plus for almost six years. For the rest of us, it has served as a liability and an irritation. Yesterday, it became a wholesale embarrassment. On the perpetual-campaign trail, the pattern is familiar. At a political event in Wilmington, Delaware, on Thursday, President Obama devoted only 40 seconds to the shooting down of the Malaysian airline, his first statement to the world following the news. His emotionless reference to the attack as ‘a terrible tragedy’ seemed disconnected from the horrific moment, particularly as he immediately reverted to script to praise his administration and criticise Republicans. It was a far cry from President Reagan’s 1983 fierce denunciation of the Soviet shooting down of a Korean airliner as a ‘crime against humanity’.
