Inside a Gaza Hospital
Under Israeli Rocket Fire

ABC News, by Megan Keneally

An American activist has moved into a Gaza City rehabilitation hospital in the hopes of deterring an Israeli military strike on the facility that has been emptied except for 17 rehab patients who are too disabled to leave and the staff to take care of them. Joe Catron, 33, of Virginia, said el-Wafa Hospital in Gaza City has already been hit once with a missile and he said that Israeli threats to strike again amount to "psychological warfare." Catron is one of eight foreigners who hope to act as human shields for the hospital. He described the band of foreigners

Comments:
And what do these "activists" think about the neverending Hamas rocket firings that have been hitting civilians in Israel?

The lefty sob sisters in the LSM will be all over this story. Count on it.

If the hospital is a target, it is only because Hamas is either using it as a missile launch site or is storing rockets and arms there. Hamas is making the patients be their "human shields."
Tough, Joe Catron, I hope the IDF takes you and the hospital out. If you want to make yourself a human shield, prepare to meet your 72 virgins.

I think it was Benjamin Netanyahu who said we use missiles to protect our people but Hamas uses people to protect it´s missiles. This writer and any others who deliberately ignore this reality have no credibility.

Why would a hospital need a human shield? Hospitals are not targets by people who obey they international laws governing warfare, as the the Israelis do.

Putting a big Red Cross (yeah, really!) on it works better than having some idiot running around saying he’s a shield.

But make your hospital part of the war by making it a firing position, then all bets are off, and Shield Boy isn´t going to change anything.

Israel is a tiny country which respects basic human Rights and is now under fire and having to defend itself from the surrounding barbarians´ ruthless & continuing attacks.

The parents of a boy with a brain tumour have said they removed their son from a UK hospital because he had not been offered proton beam therapy. In a video posted on YouTube, Brett and Naghemeh King said they had "pleaded" with staff at Southampton General Hospital for their five-year-old son Ashya to be given it. The technology is currently only available in the UK to treat eye cancers, but patients with other forms of cancer can apply for NHS funding for therapy abroad. So what is proton beam therapy?

Hong Kong: Underlining the potential for escalating confrontation, Hong Kong pro-democracy groups have vowed to ensure the city enters an "era of civil disobedience" in protest against proposed voting reforms imposed by the Chinese government. Braving stop-start rain under a gleaming Hong Kong skyline, thousands of demonstrators flocked to a rally organised by pro-democracy group Occupy Central outside the offices of the Legislative Council on Sunday night, where they were urged to stage mass sit-ins to cripple the city´s financial district. It came just hours after Beijing said it would deny voters the right to publicly nominate candidates for the

Researchers unveiled a breakthrough imaging technique Thursday that show what blood flow in the brain looks like on cocaine. For the first time, researchers have been able to prove “cocaine induced microischemia,” a precursor to stroke that arises when blood flow shuts down. The experiment was conducted on mice via cocaine injections. The results were published in the journal Biomedical Optics Express. The method means that we can finally see tiny vessels called capillaries, which form the brain’s circulation network. When we first began digging in to the Mike Brown story something odd was immediately identifiable. The individual witness statements, when compared over time, were case studies in the evolution of self-contradiction. But why ? It’s generally a true statement that eye witnesses testimonials can often be unreliable; but the statements of the people hitting the New York media circuit were beyond unreliable – they were contradicting themselves from show to show, often within hours. A little research into the shooting aftermath and things begin to fall into place. The primary witnesses used to create what we’ll call ‘the media narrative’

President Obama’s favorite billionaire has thrown him under the Burger King bus. Warren Buffett stuck one of his big Midas thumbs in Obama’s eye Tuesday by agreeing to pony-up $3 billion so the hamburger chain can buy a Canadian doughnut outfit — and avoid paying millions in U.S. corporate taxes by moving part of its headquarters to Ontario. Buffett made the move just a month after Obama denounced “inversion” tactics like this as an “unpatriotic tax loophole” and ordered regulatory changes to curb them. The White House declined to discuss this flame-broiled whopper of an embarrassment Tuesday.

It will take two decades to rebuild the thousands of houses destroyed during Israel’s assault on Gaza, according to a recent NGO report. At least 17,000 homes were obliterated or severely damaged during the conflict, with thousands more needing substantial repairs, according to an assessment by Shelter Cluster. More than 2,100 Palestinians, most of them civilians, were killed during the conflict. In addition 71 Israelis were killed – all but six of them soldiers. But the report on Gaza’s housing stock indicates inhabitants of the densely populated strip will face a severe infrastructural burden over the coming years.
