New Captain America will be African-

He’s red, white and blue — and black. Captain America’s mantle will be taken over by his long-time ally, the Falcon, the high-flying African-American hero from Harlem, Marvel Comics announced late Wednesday. “It’s about time,” says Marvel executive editor Tom Brevoort of the change. “In 2014, this should be a thing that we shrug off, it shouldn´t be seen as revolutionary, but it still feels exciting.” Brevoort says the Falcon becomes the new Captain America at the behest of the original, Steve Rogers, who has been turned into a 90-year-old man in the most recent storyline,

Comments:
Meanwhile, if anyone but a black person (or any other group suffering oppression from White Privilege) portrays a black character in a movie, it´s the end of the world and the producers are slammed as racist.

Side note, do black kids buy comic books? My impression is that it´s a middle class white geek thing.

No big deal

Thor is a woman.
Capt America is Black
Green Lantern was White, then Black, now White again (although that can be explained as there are many lanterns)

Why are we celebrating Capt America who was on "steroids" anyway?

OP, does anyone buy comics anymore?

Winter Soldier -- the mass murderer -- also took over for Captain America in the comics at one point. They do this kind of thing all the time. The press is pushing it to get a rise. It seems to be working.

In other news, Anthony Mackie, who plays Falcon in the Capt. America 2 movie, is hot.

Anyway, as others said...he is a black Captain America...not an African-American Captain America. That whole African-American thing is just a stupid term that Jesse Jackson made up and most people don´t even like being called that. Stupid.

I don´t care if he is Asian, black, striped, polka-dotted or Martian green. But what bothers me is that they keep changing ethnicities when supposedly we are supposed to stop making a big deal about ethnicity and skin color. These leftists, Democrats and PC crowd are radically divisive and are doing everything they can to tear us apart and make us hate each other more. If you were killed by a police officer, how would the media respond? Outrage over 18-year-old Michael Brown´s violent death over the weekend wasn´t confined to St. Louis — nor did it stop at his death. Many were upset with how news outlets portrayed Brown, who was unarmed, after a cop shot and kill him Saturday in Ferguson. Young African-Americans started posting two pictures of themselves to Twitter — one more wholesome than the other— with a simple question: "If they gunned me down, which picture would they use?" The hashtag #IfTheyGunnedMeDown exploded in popularity along with the argument that

Washington — The U.S. Postal Service lost $2 billion this spring despite increasing its volume and charging consumers more money to send mail, officials said Monday. The loss for the spring quarter, which ended June 30, was significantly higher than the $740 million loss for the same three-month period last year. The agency blamed increases in compensation and benefit costs for the red ink and said it would be unable to make a congressionally mandated payment of $5.7 billion this September for health benefits for future retirees. The Drug Enforcement Administration paid an Amtrak secretary $854,460 over nearly 20 years to obtain confidential information about train passengers, which the DEA could have lawfully obtained for free through a law enforcement network, The Associated Press has learned. Broward’s school system faces a whole host of challenges these days — such as the growing influence of charter schools and billions of dollars in needed school repairs. But another issue is dominating one School Board race: the N-word. Seven years after incumbent School Board member Ann Murray referred to the upper-level Sun Life Stadium seats as “n-- heaven,” the issue continues to haunt her candidacy for reelection. One reason is that Murray’s comment only became public knowledge in 2011, so this marks the first time that voters will be able to voice any displeasure at the ballot box.
