The Roma had arrived on Sunday in Landen, some 50 km (30 miles) east of the Belgian capital of Brussels. They agreed with a landowner to park 14 caravans there until Tuesday, according to Gino Debroux, the Landen mayor. "Since then, they´ve said they won´t leave and they´re there with 30 caravans," Mr Debroux told Reuters by telephone. "This is an industrial site and is not designed for camping." He said the group´s refusal to leave had led him to hire a DJ to play music from Wednesday morning, starting around 9 a.m.

How many decibels do you think it would take to clear out the White House?

Gypsies will be the next protected minority. They are active here and have been, I know for 30 years. Go to a carnival.

Four people have been arrested and a Homeland Security officer is under investigation for firing his weapon during a weekend scuffle between pro-Israel demonstrators and Palestinian supporters outside the Federal Building in Los Angeles. The altercation Sunday evening grew out of a shouting match between the occupants of two vehicles that escalated when several people from one vehicle were assaulted by suspects in the other, the Los Angeles County Sheriff´s Office said. An officer of the Federal Protective Service, an agency of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, who witnessed the assault intervened and fired his weapon

Michelle Obama’s food policy czar, celebrity chef Sam Kass, was once so in with the lunch lady crowd that he landed a guest judge spot on a tearful school lunch episode of Food Network’s “Chopped” and handed out awards at the School Nutrition Association’s convention in Denver. Two years later, when he asked to speak at the group’s annual convention this week in Boston, the answer: “No.” The rebuke shows how ugly the fight has become between the first lady and her supporters, who want kids to eat more fruits, vegetables and whole grains in their school lunches

1) No matter what they fail at, it´s always someone else´s fault. George Bush did it, the Republicans are mean, the dog ate Obama´s homework. It´s not his fault that he´s flunking every class! 2) They don´t read history, they think their parents are stupid, and they don´t need to know anything other than how they feel to make a decision. So despite the fact that everyone tells them that tying a towel around their neck will not allow them to jump off the roof like Superman, they´re going to do it anyway.

After President Barack Obama breathlessly addressed four different foreign-policy issues during a 10-minute statement, he summed up the state of a crisis-filled world in one sentence. "We live in a complex world and at a challenging time," Obama said. Obama touched on the laundry list of global flashpoints situations during a statement from the White House on Wednesday — the disputed elections in Afghanistan, the negotiations on Iran´s nuclear program, the Israeli-Palestinian crisis, and, finally, the conflict in Ukraine. The most significant recent development in these situations was the announcement of new sanctions on Russia shortly before the president spoke. Obama described those

In his message to the “Mexico/Holy See Colloquium on Migration and Development,” Pope Francis characterized the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants that have crossed the U.S. southern border as a product of globalization, suggesting that the phenomenon is happening worldwide. Francis proclaimed, “Despite the large influx of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is still seen as an emergency, or as a circumstantial and sporadic fact, while instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge.” Emmer McCarthy for Vatican Radio said Francis expressed his concern for “the tens of thousands of

John McCain, an immigration hawk. Who knew? Mr. McCain, the highest-profile Republican of the U.S. Senate’s “Gang of Eight” that came up with amnesty as the solution to the immigration crisis — and it truly is a crisis — is finally taking a hard line against President Obama for his encouraging the tidal wave of illegal aliens swamping the southwestern border. “There has to be a halt to this,” Mr. McCain thundered Sunday on CNN. “That’s what we want, and the best way to do that is for planeloads of these young people to be returning to their country of origin

It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

Rep. Tom Rice (R., S.C.) and constitutional law expert David Rivkin on Wednesday predicted victory in the lawsuit the House is launching against President Barack Obama. The House Rules Committee held a hearing on the proposed lawsuit, which is intended to prove the unconstitutionality of Obama’s unilateral delay of the employer mandate portion of the Affordable Care Act. Witnesses at the hearing argued about whether the House has standing to sue the president to enforce the law. “I’m very optimistic that this lawsuit will succeed,” Rivkin said in an interview. “I certainly expect there to be a propaganda offensive to

Thanks to our friends at Washington Free Beacon, you’ll never have to watch a Barack Obama speech again. Reason being, this 76-second video shows you everything he’s going to say. He will: Tell you it’s great to be back in whatever town he’s in. Tell you to have a seat – twice. Appreciate the introduction. Love you back. Recommend building more roads and bridges. Say the economy grows from the middle out. Say the wealthy have to “pay their fair share.” Blame Republicans in Congress for everything. Encourage you to vote rather than boo.

According to documents obtained by the Washington Post, on top of that mammoth speaking fee, Clinton´s contract demands……the university provide "a presidential glass panel teleprompter and a qualified operator," that Clinton´s office have "final approval" of her introducer and the moderator of any question-and-answer session, as well as "the sets, backdrops, banners, scenery, logos, settings, etc," and that the

After sending a letter and questioning Attorney General Eric Holder twice and former FBI Director Robert Mueller once about the probe, Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, told Holder in a new letter this week, "I find the timeline...to be increasingly perplexing and suspicious. I urge the Department to move forward with this investigation in an expeditious and prudent manner." Chaffetz also told Gretchen Carlson on Fox News’ “The Real Story” Wednesday that the open investigation may have a chilling

Barack Obama provoked fury in the U.S. by casually devoting mere moments to the deaths of 295 people aboard a Malaysian airliner on Thursday in Wilmington, Delaware, and then launching into jokes and his prepared remarks on the need to expand America´s transportation infrastructure. Twenty-three Americans are feared dead after the jetliner crashed in eastern Ukraine. Obama declared that ´it looks like it may be a terrible tragedy, but not before enthusiastically declaring that ´it is wonderful to be back in Delaware.´ ´Before I begin, obviously the world is watching reports of a downed passenger jet near the Russia-Ukraine border. CIUDAD HIDALGO, Mexico – Mexico is promising to stem the flow of Central American migrants to the United States by tightening control at its notoriously porous Guatemalan border. But messages from the country´s top two leaders in little more than a week have provided few details on how. And the scene on the ground is business as usual. Dozens of Central Americans who paid $1.50 a head could be seen this week crossing the broad Suchiate River on improvised rafts of inner tubes and wooden boards, in full view of Mexican police on the shore and immigration agents posted on
