Abramson Opens Up to Greta, Defends

Ex-New York Times executive editor Jill Abramson joined Greta Van Susteren tonight to open up about her firing and her experience at the Times. Abramson also defended a claim she has made previously that the Obama White House is the “most secretive” she’s ever dealt with. Abramson said she’s “never dealt with an administration where more officials… demand that everything be off the record.” She cited criminal investigations against journalists’ sources, including the current case involving Times reporter James Risen, to make the case of just how secretive the White House is. In fact, she told Van Susteren, “I spoke

Comments:
She was critical of the Obama regime but she doesn´t bother to mention how the NYT always covers for him. I could only get through about half of this. Her nasal voice and speech mannerisms were extremely annoying. I couldn´t spend five minutes with her.

Ditto, OP. I tried to stay with the interview, but the speech mannerism, nasal intonation and drawn out endings of words were too much for me to tolerate.

Not that it matters, count my vote on the speech impediment thing. She might have played a character on Seinfeld, had she been for real.

I was wondering if perhaps she´s suffered a severe facial injury. If she´s had her jaw rebuilt that might account for her unusual looks and speech.

Oh, man - who could take her seriously with the speech mannerisms of a slow-talking valley girl c. 1999? Listening to her is the modern equivalent of fingernails on a chalkboard (an experience that kids today will, sadly, miss). Combine the speaking voice with the intellect of a box of rocks, and you have the Seinfeld distillation of a liberal NY woman.

State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf told reporters Thursday her department would never have willingly revealed the failed U.S. attempt to rescue American journalist James Foley from Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS), and that she has “no idea” who leaked the information to the press. The report, citing U.S. officials, came to light Wednesday, after Foley was beheaded by ISIL. “We had no intention of ever making this public, period — I want to be very clear about that — for the operational security both of the special operators and also of the remaining hostages,” Harf said. Pennsylvania resident Tiffany Bruce checked into a hospital after she discovered that her life-size Obama statue was missing. The $1,249 statue that she kept outside her house on a bench was a staple in the neighborhood, as the family gave him a Halloween costume and dressed him up as Santa Claus for Halloween. “I peeked my head out the door, and Obama’s gone, and I kind of went into a panic. I couldn’t breathe, and I had to go to the hospital,” Bruce told KFOR, a local news station. The statue was found Thursday at the Francis E. Walter Dam, sitting on a bench with a six pack of beer.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has released the zip codes associated with the Obama administration’s release of 169 immigrants convicted of “homicide-related” offenses who were awaiting deportation proceedings. ICE released the new information about the 169 immigrant convicts to Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley. The senator pressed the Department of Homeland Security for answers in June following confirmed reports that, in 2013, ICE released 36,007 immigrants convicted of nearly 88,000 crimes (including murder, kidnapping, and sexual assault). All were awaiting the outcome of deportation proceedings.

Islamic State´s thirst for blood has the world on edge, but its equally insatiable yearning for oil could prove a "catastrophe" for the global economy if the terror organization isn´t stopped, experts say. The Government Accounting Office has handed down its verdict over whether the swap of terrorists for Bowe Bergdahl was legal. The question centers on whether the administration was in the right, legally, when it failed to give Congress 30 days notice that terrorists held at Guantanamo Bay would be released. It wasn’t. The Department of Defense (DOD) violated section 8111 of the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2014 when it transferred five individuals detained at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to the nation of Qatar without providing at least 30 days notice to certain congressional committees. If you had predicted six years ago that America’s first half-black, half-white president would actually make race relations in the U.S. worse, they would have laughed you out of the room. Who are “they”? Everyone. If you had expressed those fears out loud in the run-up to his historic 2008 election, everyone within earshot would have mocked you mercilessly. More, they would

WASHINGTON— President Obama is considering key changes in the nation’s immigration system requested by tech, industry and powerful interest groups, in a move that could blunt Republicans’ election-year criticism of the president’s go-it-alone approach to immigration. Administration officials and advocates said the steps would go beyond the expected relief from deportations for some immigrants in the U.S. illegally that Obama signaled he’d adopt after immigration efforts in Congress collapsed. Following a bevy of recent White House meetings, top officials have compiled specific recommendations from business groups and other advocates whose support could undercut GOP claims that Obama is exceeding his

Global warming has been temporarily ´paused´ according to a group of scientists, who attribute this interlude to climate fluctuations and a more restrained sun. Researchers at ETH Zurich have explained the two reasons behind the warming hiatus in their study published in the latest issue of the journal Nature Geoscience. The first is that global temperatures, which rose significantly in the 1990s, have only risen very slightly since 1998 - which has been used by sceptics to question climate change and the models used to measure it. However, climate fluctuations such as El Niño and its counter-phenomenon La Niña have
