Newest Obama Admin Mandate:
Corporate Tax Patriotism

Legal Insurrection, by Bruce Carroll

First it was Vice President Joe Biden who said paying higher taxes was “patriotic.” Now, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew has resurrected the taxes-as-patriotism meme for the Obama White House. Secretary Lew used the phrase “economic patriotism” this morning on his interview on CNBC to discuss the Administration’s new plans to regulate the corporate marketplace. “Congress should enact legislation immediately,” Lew told a business conference in New York hosted by cable television channel CNBC. “We should have some economic patriotism here.” Lew’s remarks came amid a wave of corporate deals known as inversions, in which a U.S. company shifts its tax home base to

How about some government employee patriotism? They could give back some benefits and 20% of their salaries. They could move full retirement up to 35 years. Or union patriotism? They could give back their padded medical care benefits and take 20% pay cuts to make them on a par with private employees. This is the type of leadership we need from the democratic party -- leading by example.

I´m sure the Apples, Googles, all the Hollywood actors and actresses that have incorporated as well as the the big Producers and studios, all of them will be lining up to follow their elected leader down this wonderful socialist path. Can´t wait to see how fast they leave Ireland for U.S. tax nirvana.

We pay some of the highest taxes in the world and are the only country that taxes income earned overseas by individuals. Soon patriotism will mean US citizens will not be allowed to leave the US without permission and heavy fees.

Fighters from the Islamic State extremist group have used a rocket launcher to shoot down an Iraqi military helicopter, say officials. The pilot and co-pilot of the Mi-35 aircraft were reportedly killed in the attack which happened between the towns of Beiji and al Senniyah in northern Iraq. The shooting down of the helicopter showed the insurgents´ ability to hit back against air operations by Iraqi authorities and the US-led coalition. Liberian officials said the U.S. case was inevitable and unsurprising. “It means the entire world is not safe,” said Liberian assistant health minister Tolbert Nyenswah in an interview on Wednesday. “It means we should all be making frantic efforts to stop Ebola in West Africa,” he said. Mr. Nyenswah and other Liberians are hoping that the U.S. case will help to mobilize more global resources to fight Ebola in West Africa, where the epidemic originated earlier this year. “It’s a clear indication that Ebola has no boundary,” said Thomas Siakor, a 32-year-old university student and bread vendor in Monrovia. “It can kill

The quintessential question of Watergate was “what did the President know and when did he know it?” Obamagate, the vast scandal that encompasses an entire presidency, offers a preemptive answer. Obama didn’t know anything and he never knew it. At least not until, like smuggling weapons to druglords, bugging journalists, IRSing his political enemies and killing vets, his right hand found out about what his left hand was doing from the morning paper. After skipping 58% of his daily intelligence briefings in Term 1 and 59% of them in Term 2, he went on 60 Minutes and blamed intelligence agencies for being

A presidential defeat isn’t an easy thing to bounce back from. And Mitt Romney did it twice. So it was understandable that after he lost the presidential race in 2012, he was adamant about closing the door to the possibility of a third campaign. When asked if he was running in a New York Times interview published earlier this week, Romney said : “I have nothing to add to the story. "And he was so amazed at how Americans organized themselves -- you know, coming from aristocratic Europe, which was totally top-down and hierarchical -- he couldn´t believe how many of us were joiners.
