Michelle Obama talks veterans´ jobs
and homes -- but not VA healthcare

Los Angeles Times, by Cathleen Decker

This is what it means to be first lady: you enjoy a 66% popularity rating, almost 20 points higher than your husband´s. And you can give an entire speech about the needs of veterans — for homes and good jobs — without ever having to refer to the conflagration over their medical care that has enveloped his White House. Michelle Obama was the guest of honor Wednesday at a Century City gathering called Unite for Veterans, where federal, state and local officeholders gathered along with business and academic specialists to pursue housing and employment opportunities for veterans.

Comments:
(Boy, she´s packed it on and those toned arms are going bat-wingy. But I digress.)

She cleverly sandwiched a $5000/head Dem fundraiser in between two nothingburger "keynote" speeches, enabling her to charge the flight and her expenses to us, the Taxpayers. And it´s my guess that Malia, who is occasionally mentioned as still being in LA for her "internship"with Spielberg, probably got a luxurious ride back home. Ya´ think?

Meanwhile, thousands of miles away in a war zone - many hundreds of active duty officers are getting pink slips so that they can start worrying about how they plan to feed, house & have their family medical needs taken care of - is that the caring she´s peddling? Talk about a Dream Act!

Someone forgot to photoshop the Wookie´s arms. They are far from toned.

Looks like she´s had a bit more plastic surgery, too.

Of course, Michelle gives ´talks.´ Meaningless, words, peppered with lot´s of fiction. One needs a pooper scooper to attend. Besides, it´s the only way her latest taxpayer funded weave get´s any attention. Veterans jobs? Are ´Veterans´ jobs related to ´shovel ready jobs,´ because neither exist.

Not terribly long ago in a country that many people misremember, if they knew it at all, a black person was killed in public every four days for often the most mundane of infractions, or rather accusation of infractions – for taking a hog, making boastful remarks, for stealing 75 cents. For the most banal of missteps, the penalty could be an hours-long spectacle of torture and lynching. No trial, no jury, no judge, no appeal. Now, well into a new century, as a family in Ferguson, Missouri, buries yet another American teenager killed at the hands of authorities, the

It is two weeks since Michael Brown was shot dead in the street by Ferguson City police officer Darren Wilson. (Snip) But as the protests subside, another conflict has begun to emerge. Because it isn´t only witness accounts of what happened that day that are at odds. It is the version of the victim himself that has become increasingly hard to square with his family´s insistence that this 6ft4 292lb teenager was nothing but a ´Gentle Giant´. They slammed the release of footage of Michael taking part in a strong-arm robbery just moments before the fatal shooting as unrelated and

Montana has never seen a Democratic U.S. Senate candidate like state Rep. Amanda Curtis. Selected by state Democrats last week to replace Democratic Sen. John Walsh on their November ticket after a plagiarism scandal derailed his re-election bid, Curtis is a far cry from the centrist candidates the party tends to field for statewide office in Big Sky Country. Curtis, a 34-year-old math teacher with a nose ring and a background in labor activism, has only one term in the state legislature to her name, and told ABC News she plans to run a progressive, “grassroots” campaign on income inequality and student-loan debt.

What´s A Grand Jury? How Will

The purpose of a grand jury, in theory, is to protect citizens against unfair and unwarranted prosecutions by the government. In medieval England, it was viewed as a protection against the Crown. Colonists found the institution protected them against unfair English prosecutions and included the right to a grand jury in the Fifth Amendment. But in practice, the prosecutor who runs the grand jury has a great deal of influence in orchestrating the outcome. If, as Benjamin Crump has declared, a shot to the top of the head is evidence of “execution” then U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has some explaining to do… Major Hat Tip to Treeper ‘Legion of One’ who remembered a recent FBI shooting with considerable familiarity to the current shooting death of Mike Brown. Sometimes a round of golf is just a round of golf. And sometimes it reveals the essence of a man. President Obama’s decision to hit the links and yuk it up with pals immediately after speaking about the beheading of James Foley was no ordinary mistake. Nor was it a simple gaffe. The decision continues to cause an uproar because, like an X-ray, there is no escaping the image. It shows there is no there there. At last, we know the reason why comedy writers don’t make fun of President Obama much. It turns out the man is completely unmockable. We learn this from Jim Downey, the longtime “Saturday Night Live” specialist in political japery. “If I had to describe Obama as a comedy project, I would say, ‘Degree of difficulty, 10 point 10,’” the writer says in the expanded new edition of the “SNL” oral history book, “Live from New York.” “It’s like being a rock climber looking up at a thousand-foot-high face of solid obsidian, polished and oiled,” Downey says. “There’s not a single thing to grab
