The $50 Million Luxury Resort for
Illegal Aliens You Just Paid for Has
Saunas, a Swimming Pool & Gym

Independent Journal Review, by Kyle Becker

Original Article

It’s one thing to take care of illegal immigrants who come to America and are under the age of 18 (before sending them back), and it’s another to burn through taxpayer money rolling out the red carpet. From the Gateway Pundit: The Obama administration has awarded a $50 million contract to a charitable group to buy a Texas resort hotel and transform it in to a 600 bed facility for juvenile illegal aliens. That resort hotel? The Palm Aire Hotel and Suites in Weslaco, Texas – a generously acommodated resort with such amenities as an outdoor swimming pool (pictured above).

A look at dangers posed by

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates— The Islamic State militant group that has taken over large parts of Syria and Iraq and declared a self-styled caliphate poses one of the most significant threats to stability in the Middle East in years. But what danger does it immediately pose? Here are some questions and answers about the Islamic State group: DOES THE ISLAMIC STATE GROUP RUN A DE FACTO COUNTRY? The Islamic State group holds roughly a third of Iraq and Syria, including several strategically important cities like Fallujah and Mosul in Iraq and Raqqa in Syria. It rules over a population of

ISIS has released a video that it claims to show the beheading of U.S. journalist Steven Sotloff. Sotloff, who freelanced for Time and Foreign Policy magazines, had last been seen in Syrian in August 2013 until he appeared in a video released online last month by the Islamic State group that showed the beheading of fellow American journalist James Foley. Dressed in an orange jumpsuit against the backdrop of an arid Syrian landscape, Sotloff was threatened in that video with death unless the U.S. stopped airstrikes on the group in Iraq. In the video distributed Tuesday and entitled "A Second

The parents of a U.S. Navy SEAL killed in action in 2011 took on President Obama in a scathing letter that demanded he resign from office. Billy and Karen Vaughn have spoken out in the past following the helicopter crash that killed their son along with 29 other Americans and eight Afghans. The Vaughns have called out the Pentagon and the Obama administration in recent years, repeatedly demanding answers from officials about the circumstances surrounding the crash. Here´s a portion of their new letter: Never in my lifetime have I witnessed such despair and such growing fear that the world’s

Washington Post owner Jeffrey P. Bezos is replacing Publisher Katharine Weymouth with Frederick J. Ryan Jr., a former Reagan administration official who was part of the founding leadership team of Politico, a primarily digital news organization that competes with The Post on political coverage, the company announced Tuesday. The departure of Weymouth, 48, ends eight decades of Graham family leadership of The Post, which her great-grandfather bought in 1933. Bezos, who acquired The Post for $250 million in a sale announced in August 2013, initially kept the senior leadership team intact. He told Weymouth during a visit to Washington, on

HOUSTON, Texas -- As Texas´ gas and oil industry continues to hum, some of the state´s old oil fields could start producing millions of barrels per day. This rings especially true for West Texas´ Permian Basin, which is expected to soon produce more than 2 million barrels of oil per day. Thanks to technological advances including fracking, some older oil fields in Texas are now booming again, according to the Wall Street Journal. "Refracking"--the process of drilling in wells where fracking took place years ago--is simultaneously taking hold of the industry and encouraging the industry´s boom. On Monday, as millions of American workers gathered with family and friends to celebrate and mark the end of summer, the nation´s union bosses were preparing to inject tens of millions of dollars from their members´ paychecks into the midterm elections in November. Unions have already spent $70 million to protect the Democrat majority in the Senate. Even this amount is likely to be dwarfed by a flood of money and manpower in the final weeks of the campaign. Union money, which is continually replenished through dues from members´ pay, is just the most public expression of union political power.

Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough defended President Barack Obama’s “slip” in saying his administration had “no strategy” to deal with ISIS, but also asked former White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs if comments like that induced pure panic among press secretaries. “Are there oxygen masks in the press secretary’s office when the president says something like he said last week, where the oxygen masks drop and you can catch a deep breath before you go talk to him?” Scarborough asked. “We all know it was a slip. But everybody in the white house had to gasp when he did that,

CBS News Political Director John Dickerson had some harsh words for Democrats as the 2014 midterm election kicks into high gear. Appearing on CBS This Morning on Tuesday, September 2, Dickerson insisted that for the 2014 Senate races “there are three races in West Virginia, South Dakota, Montana that are gone. Those are basically going to go to the Republicans.” [See video below.] The segment began with co-host Charlie Rose highlighting how “the latest CBS News poll shows just 36 percent of Americans approve of President Obama’s foreign policy” before turning to the CBS News Political Director to dissect the

Any one of five or six campaigns could determine which party wins control of the Senate in November. Yet the race in Iowa is worth an extra dash of attention, not only because it’s been among the most entertaining – full of target practice, hog castration and the Koch brothers – but also because of the ideological distance between the two candidates. It’s even bigger than in many other races. In Arkansas, Mark Pryor, the incumbent locked in a tough race, is among the Senate’s most conservative Democrats. In New Hampshire, Scott Brown, the challenger, is a well-known moderate among

Labor Day weekend is over, which means one thing to political junkies: The fall campaign season kicks into high gear. Specifically, candidates and committees tap into all that cash they’ve raised over the last two years to inundate the airwaves with advertising for the final two-month stretch (yes, even more than they already have). This midterm election, mega donors — freed up by the McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission decision to give unlimited amounts to candidates — are digging even deeper into their bank accounts, our colleague Matea Gold writes. Democrats are running out of time for an economic savior. They have long predicted that an economic turnaround would be the elixir that helps them retain control of the Senate in November. But with just a handful of big economic reports left before Election Day, the economic picture is largely in place. And while the outlook is bright, voters continue to hold a dim view of their own financial prospects. “There are still a lot of families playing catch-up,” said Jared Bernstein at the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities. “It’s got to be awfully hard for the typical voter

President Obama needs to take action to stop Islamic State (Isis) militants from targeting cities in America and Western Europe, two senators have warned. Without offering specifics on any threats or suggestions on how to confront them, the leaders of the Senate and House of Representatives intelligence committees urged the White House to work to prevent the Islamic State extremists from launching attacks on US soil. The bipartisan pair shared a dire warning against Isis, which now has control of vast swathes of Syria and Iraq, has killed civilians from that region and beheaded American journalist James Foley. “This is

On TV, incompetence is funny, sometimes hilarious. Jackie Gleason made a career of it on the old “Honeymooners” show; Tom Haverford is absurdly incapable on “Parks and Recreation”; and Michael Scott brought the Peter Principle to new heights in “The Office.” But in real life, incompetence can be dangerous, even life-threatening (think a real-life Homer Simpson actually in charge of safety at a nuclear power plant). That’s where America finds itself nearly six years into the presidency of Barack Obama. There’s no question Mr. Obama has all but checked out. Some time ago I contrasted the reaction a conservative would get if he were in the same room with the two most consequential politicians of the 1990s, Bill Clinton and Rudy Giuliani. If you were in a room with Bill Clinton, he would discover the one issue out of 100 on which you agreed; he would probe you with questions, comments, suggestions; and he would tell you that you enabled him to understand it far better than he ever had before. Because I am a black conservative, someone wrote asking me this great question. “What is it that compels some black men and women to cling to, and follow people like Sharpton, Jackson, Wright, Obama, Spike Lee, Black Panthers, Holder, etc.?” I have pondered the same question. Some black folks embrace victim status because it provides cover for their laziness and irresponsible lifestyles. Black Judases preach a false, evil gospel of victimhood-ism for profit. Some blacks are racist, pure and simple. I believe that a majority of black Americans simply have not been exposed to unfiltered conservatism – to blacks articulating how blessed they

The National Institutes of Health study is now in its fourth year, receiving an additional $670,567 for fiscal year 2014, for a total cost of $2.87 million, the Washington Free Beacon reported. Researchers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital have come to several conclusions since studying “the striking interplay of gender and sexual orientation in obesity disparities,” which is slated to last until 2016. They have determined that gay and bisexual males had a “greater desire for toned muscles” than straight men, lesbians have lower

Between 1970 and 1990, the population of Philadelphia shrank by a quarter, dropping from 1.95 to 1.59 million. Like many American cities, it seemed caught in a downward spiral. Since then – like many American cities – Philadelphia has stabilized. The population now appears to have bottomed out at the millennium, and has been regaining residents over the past decade. But as it rebounds, Philly is becoming a different kind of city. In the two most recent decades, which comprise the bounce of the city’s population curve, owner-occupied housing dropped even more steeply than in the ’70s and ’80s. Between 2000 and

WASHINGTON — The current Congress is on track to be the worst ever at passing laws since modern record-keeping began, with three of its lawmakers failing to introduce a single bill, The Post has learned. The divided House and Senate have managed to pass just 163 laws that garnered President Obama’s signature since the two-year term began in January 2013. At this rate, Congress will have no problem beating the previous record set during the 2011-2013 session in which 284 laws were passed. That was down from 385 laws passed in the 2009-2011 session.
