Snake eyes: Fitch cuts estimate
for NJ online gambling revenue

A Wall Street credit rating firm that was among the most pessimistic about the prospects for Internet gambling in New Jersey has cut its already-conservative estimate on the state´s first-year online winnings by more than half. Tuesday´s move by Fitch Ratings comes a day after New Jersey reported a third straight monthly decline in the amount of money won by the state´s Internet betting operations, partnered with Atlantic City casinos. (Snip) That prompted Fitch to cut its estimate of New Jersey´s 2014 Internet winnings to $120 million to $130 million, down from the $200 million to $300 million it had

Comments:
New Jersey has mind-boggling government overhead and retiree benefits to fund. Gambling´s proving to be an unreliable revenue source during the Endless Summer of Recovery, so are legalized prostitution and marijuana too far a stretch?

Well, after the Mob, the unions and the crooked politicians took their cuts, of course there were less ´profits´ to report. These payouts should have been factored in in the first place. It´s Joisey.

There are two periods in AC history post gambling:
When there WAS Mob involvement
When there was NO Mob involvement.
Take a guess when AC was both profitable AND safe.

Only chance AC has is to allow sports betting , but until the Feds change the law they are stuck in a no win situation.

Bank of America’s mortgage business has lost more than $50 billion since the Charlotte bank bought Countrywide Financial for $2.5 billion, according to an Observer tally, and more losses are coming in an expected Justice Department settlement. After announcing the deal for the ailing subprime lender in January 2008, then-Bank of America chief executive Ken Lewis called it a rare chance to become No. 1 in home loans. Instead the bank’s shareholders have spent six-plus years paying for Countrywide’s slipshod lending practices. The disastrous purchase not only harmed investors but also employees, homeowners and the Bank of America headquarter’s city,

Your next commuter car could have two seats, three wheels and get 84 miles to the gallon. Elio Motors wants to revolutionize U.S. roads with its tiny car, which is the same length as a Honda Fit but half the weight. With a starting price of $6,800, it’s also less than half the cost. Phoenix-based Elio plans to start making the cars next fall at a former General Motors plant in Shreveport, La. Already, more than 27,000 people have reserved one. Elio hopes to make 250,000 cars a year by 2016. That’s close to the number Mazda sells in the U.S.

A dramatic photo captured the moment on Friday when a Brooklyn mugging victim became a crime fighter — as she busted the punk who allegedly snatched her cellphone and held him in a bear hug for the cops. Clara Vondrich, 36, was taking a business phone call while standing in front of a Williamsburg coffee shop on South Third Street at 1:20?p.m. when the teen approached her with two pals. The 13-year-old, whose name is being withheld by The Post because he is a minor, allegedly pushed her from behind, nearly knocking her to the ground. He ripped

The 34-year-old victim from Bangladesh — who is a mere two months from her due date — told the Daily News she was horrified for her unborn baby. “I was scared and worried about the baby,” said the victim, who wouldn’t give her name, at her home in Brooklyn. Detroit— A local Muslim-American group Thursday announced it has filed a federal lawsuit based on complaints the government has unjustly put a disproportionate number of Muslim-Americans on the nation’s “terror watch” list. Dawud Walid, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations Michigan Chapter, says the lawsuit is not a reaction to a list uncovered last week that showed Dearborn has the second-highest concentration of people designated by the U.S. government as being “known or suspected terrorists.” Rather, his organization is seeking “remedies” to unjustly putting Muslim-Americans names on a list that don’t belong there.

A Travis County grand jury today indicted Gov. Rick Perry on two charges related to his effort last year to force District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg to resign after her drunken driving arrest. Grand jurors charged Perry, 63, with abuse of official capacity, a first-degree felony, and coercion of a public official. The indictments stemmed from Perry’s threat last summer to withhold $7.2 million in state money from Lehmberg’s office unless she step down – a threat he later carried out by vetoing an appropriation in the state budget. The money was earmarked for the state’s Public Integrity Unit, which is housed in Lehmberg’s office. Perry’s veto forced

FERGUSON, Mo. — The friend who was with Michael Brown when he was shot and killed by a police officer near St. Louis over the weekend is reportedly confirming that he and Brown had taken part in the theft of cigars from a convenience store that day. That word comes from the attorney for Dorian Johnson, speaking to MSNBC. Police in Ferguson had earlier announced that Brown was suspected of taking cigars from the convenience store in what was described as a "strong-arm robbery." Brown´s family is accusing police of trying to draw attention away from the shooting.

This is ridiculous. AUSTIN (KXAN) – A grand jury has handed up an indictment against Gov. Rick Perry in connection with the investigation into an effort to force Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg to resign. Perry wanted Lehmberg to resign because she had been busted for drunk driving. It’s not good to have a drunk driver, captured on camera abusing the officers who arrested her, heading up the Public Integrity Unit. At the center of the issue is a complaint about intimidation stemming from Perry’s threat to veto of $7.5 million in state funding to the Public Integrity Unit

A grand jury in Travis County, Texas, indicted Governor Rick Perry today. Why? For exercising his constitutional prerogative by threatening to veto, and then vetoing, an appropriation to support the public corruption unit in Travis County’s district attorney’s office. This followed the arrest of the county’s district attorney, Democratic Party activist Rosemary Lehmberg, for drunk driving, after she was found “with an open bottle of vodka in the front passenger seat of her car in a church parking lot in Austin.” Ms. Lehmberg served 45 days in jail. The Travis County district attorney’s office has long been a cesspool of corruption.

The scandal that erupted Friday night involved millions of dollars, statehouse power plays—oh yeah, and alcohol, police, and masks. Texas Governor Rick Perry was indicted Friday on charges of abuse of power—a first degree felony—and coercion—a third degree felony. The charges stem from a 2013 scandal that has been quietly rumbling in the Lone Star State as Perry has been floated as a viable contender for the Republican nomination in 2016. This is a complex case, which might be why it has not made national headlines the way other recent, state-level scandals (like Bridgegate, in New Jersey) have. Below, I have outlined
