Akin says that like Joe McCarthy, he

WASHINGTON • In one of his first interviews since his defeat in 2012, former Rep. Todd Akin told the Post-Dispatch on Monday that he has not contemplated running for office again, and instead has focused on closing his Senate campaign and writing a book that will be released today. In a 15-minute telephone interview, the Republican Akin compared his downfall in the 2012 Missouri Senate race to that of former Sen. Joe McCarthy, R-Wis., who in the 1950s was discredited after making allegations that many thought overstated Communist influence in the U.S. government. “I use McCarthy as an example of someone who

This guy is as bad as Rick Santorum. Neither will go away. Both need to go home, stay there and shut up. Both seem to have the mindset that somehow the world of politics owes them a living. IT DOES NOT !

No, he did it to himself.

I sometimes sympathize with someone who loses because of a thoughtless or poorly phrased statement.

i.e. from foot-in-mouth disease.

But he shouldn´t blame others, there was no assassination.

He´s right, but as a republican he should know that the media will take anything he says and try to turn it against him.

The media reported the story as if he was talking about legitimizing rape. Maybe it´s courageous to stand up for the unborn, but in the end all it did was get an abortion supporter re-elected.

Still a selfish moron who stayed too long at the dance. He could have dropped out and given the Rs a real shot at that seat, but his hubris and total lack of awareness didn´t allow it.

Time for this narcissist to just go away...never to be heard from again.

Don´t know enough about Akin to make an informed decision and not going to bother.

McCarthy was correct in his study of communism in government.

Now there are most likely over one half of all government employees who are communist but think they are progressives or socialists. As for those elected to office I believe all democrats are Marxist communists. All RINO´s are their comrades infiltrating any opposition organization to reduce the oppositions influence in government and anything else that could bring about awareness of the takeover of America from within as they predicted without firing one shot.

In addition to being an idiot, Akin has no honor whatsoever. After it became public knowledge that the McAskill campaign was funding him, he should have dropped out and let John Brunner step up to the plate. Brunner, an actual Tea Party guy and a good candidate, could have won that seat. But no...Akin had to screw things up. Bonehead.

GOP contenders need to be schooled by the party on presentation preparedness and Q and A techniques. Akin is the text book case of an example of a verbal mistake made by a candidate. On the other hand, Democrats are brain washed into little robots before they go unto the campaign trail. But Republicans have some notion that they can do no wrong. They have to realize that the press will be looking for an opening wherever they can. This why the Republican party needs to train their candidates to be better prepared and watch what they say. Remember the travesty of what happened to Governor George Allen and he was already a governor.

Sarah Palin is returning to her roots in low-budget television—but this time, she´s on the web, the focus is American politics, and she owns the network. The Sarah Palin Channel launched Sunday, asking prospective viewers for $9.95 per month–96 cents more than Netflix–or $99.95 a year. (No word on whether subscribers get money back if Palin decides to stick with the project for only half of that term.) The cost is the same as GBTV, the web-TV channel run by Glenn Beck, a role model for wealthy media figures who hope to monetize the cult of personality they´ve built up

It appeared last week to be a case of reality hitting Jerry Jones right in the mouth. Forty-five minutes of Q&A with the media at the opening of Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, and not once did that mouth utter such words as “Super Bowl” or “Lombardi Trophy.” Some local longtime Jerry-watchers termed this as “progress,” meaning an admission his 2014 edition of the Cowboys is a tainted product, not worthy of even Jones’ normal opening of training camp ridiculous BS. As one of those longtime Jerry-watchers, I disagree about progress. Football reality has been sucker-punching Jerry for nearly two

How heavily armed are the police? Many small-town police departments now boast the same weaponry once wielded by U.S. military units in Afghanistan — including tanks with 360-degree rotating turrets, battering rams, and automatic weapons. Those weapons are today deployed against Americans suspected of crimes in their own homes. Every day, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams connected to local police conduct 124 paramilitary-style raids in the U.S., according to a new report by the American Civil Liberties Union. One of them recently drew national attention when a SWAT team in Atlanta burst into a private home and threw a live

History, said T.S. Eliot, has many “cunning passages, contrived corridors and issues.” He continues rather bleakly that what history might or could teach us emerges with “subtle confusions” offered only when our “attention is distracted.” Eliot’s is a necessary caution against seeking specific lessons from history; despite the maxim, it never “repeats itself.” Rather it is like the ancient oracles, speaking always in riddles, hiding its truths in ambiguities and perplexity. The only lessons we may draw are general ones. It will never speak to a single or particular event, but it has its maxims and morals which we cannot

When The Times of Israel’s Avi Issacharoff first reported the content of John Kerry’s ceasefire proposal on Friday afternoon, I wondered if something had gotten lost in translation. It seemed inconceivable that the American secretary of state would have drafted an initiative that, as a priority, did not require the dismantling of Hamas’s rocket arsenal and network of tunnels dug under the Israeli border. Yet the reported text did not address these issues at all, nor call for the demilitarization of Gaza. Obama beat Romney 51%-47% in the actual election. The poll said, however, that the former Massachusetts governor would lose against Hillary Clinton by double digits in a hypothetical election. The Catholic Church—through the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Migration—both paved the road for Barack Hussein Obama’s ultimate takeover of Free West society and continues to actively enable the Fundamental Transformation of America by sinking the US in a tsunami of illegal aliens. In coming to Obama’s aid in erasing forever America’s borders, the bishops sold the USA out, including its Catholics, for the proverbial 30 pieces of silver. In biblical terms, Obama and the Catholic bishops—who both birthed his progress to the seat of power and back him on his Fundamental Transformation mission—are in in league with the devil.
