Millennials´ Political Views
Don´t Make Any Sense

Atlantic, by Derek Thompson

Original Article

Millennial politics is simple, really. Young people support big government, unless it costs any more money. They´re for smaller government, unless budget cuts scratch a program they´ve heard of. They´d like Washington to fix everything, just so long as it doesn´t run anything. That´s all from a new Reason Foundation poll surveying 2,000 young adults between the ages of 18 and 29. Millennials´ political views are, at best, in a stage of constant metamorphosis and, at worst, "totally incoherent," as Dylan Matthews puts it. It´s not just the Reason Foundation. In March, Pew came out with a similar survey of Millennial attitudes

Craig Ferguson, the comedian does a GREAT bit called...´why everyting sucks´ where he elaborates on the concept of age based ignorance, and how the World has turned traditional wisdom-ie:youth needs time to learn, and we follow their ideas at our peril- upside down.
It is amazing.

At this point in their lives the Millennial´s know everything.

Now if they would just leave home and have to go to work to support themselves they would wake up quickly. however, with all this government support for living basically free of cost to them they will most likely never wake up until after government has been destroyed and replaced by these Marxist communist democrats and RINO´s coming out and showing who they really are.

In short, they are just like the rest of Americans.
Old people want less government spending but howl like banshees if their COLA adjustments aren´t high enough. They are against government funded health care except they love Medicare.
Middle aged Americans want less government spending but they want their mortgage interest deductions, their overall exemptions raised, and more grants to get their kids through college.
In short, everyone wants to balance the budget without giving up their own golden goose.

Not sure I understand how mortgage interest deductions and tax exemptions figure into your comment, #6, or how they’re contradictory to the desire for less government spending. Those are not entitlements. Why shouldn’t a taxpayer want to reduce their tax burden by deducting mortgage interest and claiming exemptions -- and still want less government spending? The more wealth the government seizes, the more they’ll spend — Parkinson’s Law.

Yesterdays’ big roundup of the outlook for the GOP in the Congressional races spurred a predictable amount of “I’m staying home, the GOP is a bunch of sellouts, I’ll start voting again when the party stands for principle and nominates some true conservatives” responses. You may have seen my reaction here. On to the gubernatorial races… Let’s begin with the states where Democrats said they would be competitive… and they just aren’t. Wendy Davis is not going to derail Greg Abbott in Texas; she’s probably going to have the biggest hype-to-performance ratio of this cycle. Vincent Sheheen finished surprisingly close in 2010

News that a man has been diagnosed with the virus in Dallas days after arriving from Liberia is alarming—and to prevent more U.S. cases, certain rules must never be broken. The announcement that a case of Ebola virus has been diagnosed in a Dallas hospital sent a chill through the medical, public health, and basic citizen communities. I know my jaw surely dropped as far as it has dropped since 2001, when the word of the first anthrax case in New York appeared in my email. As the details have begun to emerge, many people are wondering the same thing: Will

The Obama administration is reportedly considering an executive action that could protect illegal immigrants convicted of serious vehicle-related offenses, including drunk driving, from deportation as they’d normally be subject to under immigration law. The most sweeping piece of executive action President Obama has considered regarding immigration policy would offer effectively legal status and work authorization to some millions of illegal immigrants, but there are other executive actions the administration has considered instead of or in addition to that measure. One of those possibilities, described in a report by the

The Department of Health and Human Services cannot legally bail out the insurance industry for excessive losses through President Obama´s health care law unless the U.S. Congress approves language allowing the administration to do so, according to a legal opinion released on Tuesday by the Government Accountability Office. The ruling could end up provoking a showdown between the White House and Congressional Republicans over Obamacare that has the potential to affect health insurance premiums. At issue is the "risk corridors" program, which aims to stabilize the insurance market on the new health insurance exchanges

The Obama administration must acknowledge the existence of an independent investigation into former White House senior economics adviser Austan Goolsbee’s alleged unauthorized access to the Koch brother’s tax returns, a court ruled Tuesday. A federal judge ruled the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) must disclose to watchdog group Cause of Action whether records of an investigation exist. Cause of Action filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit after TIGTA refused to confirm or deny the existence of the investigation in what is commonly known as a “Glomar response.”

Then the agency said the jumper was subdued as soon as he entered through the North Portico. Now we learn, from The Post’s Carol D. The Democrats’ biggest worry heading toward November is Obama’s fall from grace with his base. This could make things even worse for them than currently expected. Democrats’ only hope to offset Republicans’ anticipated midterm surge is their base’s high turnout. However, Obama’s deep drop with his strongest supporters seriously calls this hope into question. Democrats know they will lose seats in November. The only question is: How many? At best, they hope to hang on to the Senate by a hair. Losses for the party holding the presidency are nothing new. Simply, it happens because the presidential candidate, who brought in sufficient

The Obama administration found itself scrambling on Tuesday to defend President Barack Obama for his lackluster 42% attendance record on daily intelligence briefings, a finding from a new report issued by the non-partisan Government Accountability Institute (GAI). A national coalition of plastic bag manufacturers immediately said it would seek a voter referendum to repeal the law, which is scheduled to take effect in July 2015. President Obama this week committed professional suicide. Let me explain. There is a theory in politics that once a leader has fired 50 or more people from his or her administration, he or she is finished. The reason being that by creating so many enemies ‘outside the tent’, the tent itself becomes too deluged with poisonous bile to avoid sinking into a quagmire of back-stabbing ignominy. Obama went a lot further than firing 50 people. He managed to single-handedly alienate 200,000 employees in the American intelligence agencies by going on 60 Minutes and ruthlessly chucking them all under a bus
