Millennials´ Political Views
Don´t Make Any Sense

Atlantic, by Derek Thompson

Original Article

Millennial politics is simple, really. Young people support big government, unless it costs any more money. They´re for smaller government, unless budget cuts scratch a program they´ve heard of. They´d like Washington to fix everything, just so long as it doesn´t run anything. That´s all from a new Reason Foundation poll surveying 2,000 young adults between the ages of 18 and 29. Millennials´ political views are, at best, in a stage of constant metamorphosis and, at worst, "totally incoherent," as Dylan Matthews puts it. It´s not just the Reason Foundation. In March, Pew came out with a similar survey of Millennial attitudes

Craig Ferguson, the comedian does a GREAT bit called...´why everyting sucks´ where he elaborates on the concept of age based ignorance, and how the World has turned traditional wisdom-ie:youth needs time to learn, and we follow their ideas at our peril- upside down.

At this point in their lives the Millennial´s know everything.

Now if they would just leave home and have to go to work to support themselves they would wake up quickly. however, with all this government support for living basically free of cost to them they will most likely never wake up until after government has been destroyed and replaced by these Marxist communist democrats and RINO´s coming out and showing who they really are.

In short, they are just like the rest of Americans.
Old people want less government spending but howl like banshees if their COLA adjustments aren´t high enough. They are against government funded health care except they love Medicare.
Middle aged Americans want less government spending but they want their mortgage interest deductions, their overall exemptions raised, and more grants to get their kids through college.
In short, everyone wants to balance the budget without giving up their own golden goose.

Not sure I understand how mortgage interest deductions and tax exemptions figure into your comment, #6, or how they’re contradictory to the desire for less government spending. Those are not entitlements. Why shouldn’t a taxpayer want to reduce their tax burden by deducting mortgage interest and claiming exemptions -- and still want less government spending? A North Carolina mayor on Sunday was just a few miles away from finishing his 273-mile walk to Washington to draw attention to the closing of his small town’s local hospital and the plights of other rural facilities caught in financial bind created largely by ObamaCare, a changing economy and less federal funding. “We’re almost there,” Belhaven Mayor Adam O’Neal, a Republican, said as he reached northern Virginia ahead of an approaching thunderstorm. “We’re going to make it.” The mayor and others argue that an increasing number of small, rural hospitals have been shuttered since ObamaCare was signed into law in 2012. The Obama administration is increasingly less inclined to make a deal to allow Edward Snowden to come back to the United States, according to a top National Security Agency official. "As time goes on, the utility for us of having that conversation becomes less," NSA No. 2 Rick Ledgett said this weekend at Aspen Security Forum in Colorado, according to Politico. "It´s been over a year since he had access to our networks and our information so the need for us to understand that greater level of detail is lesser and lesser." The comment could point to increasing difficulty for Snowden and

Hey, do you remember when Michigan shocked the nation and became a right to work state in 2012? That was supposed to usher in the end of the world, at least in the view of union leaders and their Democrat water carriers. As Thomas Lifson reminds us at The American Thinker, the predictions were nigh on to apocalyptic. “There will be blood, there will be repercussions,” State Democratic Rep. Douglas Geiss, speaking on the House floor on Tuesday, warned ahead of the votes. And of course, there were predictions of disaster for the “little guy” as ruthless bosses would exploit the defenseless

One hundred years ago this week, Tsar Nicholas II of Russia and Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany exchanged a series of telegrams to try to stop the rush to a war that neither of them wanted. They signed their notes “Nicky” and “Willy.” Cousins who vacationed together, hunted together and enjoyed dressing up in the uniforms of each other’s military officers when sailing on their yachts, these two great-great-grandsons of Paul I of Russia wrote to each other in English, affirming their mutual interests and outlining an agreement that would have resolved the crisis on terms acceptable to both rulers.

State Sen. Wendy Davis is making a huge mistake in her campaign as the Democratic nominee for Texas governor. And if she continues doing it, she just might find her potential voters staying home in droves on Election Day. The campaign apparently has decided that Davis has to distance herself from President Barack Obama — avoid being seen with him, resist talking about the issues he has championed even if she supports them, and certainly not ask the president’s help in getting out the vote in the Lone Star State. The obvious reason for this flawed strategy is that Obama is hugely unpopular in the so-called “red”

As my colleagues and I frequently note, Americans have a well-established constitutional right to record police officers as they publicly perform their duties. Yet cops across the country continue to harass and arrest people for exercising that right, using bogus charges such as wiretapping, resisting arrest, and interfering with police. Yesterday yet another federal judge issued a clear message to those cops: Cut it out. The case was brought by Antonio Buehler, an Austin, Texas, activist who has had several run-ins with camera-shy cops. The first incident occurred on January 1, 2012, when Buehler pulled into a 7-11 in Austin

President Obama insists on flirting with impeachment even as House Republican leaders insist there’s no such possibility. Obama uses a passive-aggressive strategy that can be judged as a political maneuver, a personality disorder, or both. Secure in the knowledge that impeachment is not the same as removal from office, Mr. Obama brings up the topic on his own and with bold defiance. Martyrdom goes well with a Messiah complex and Mr. Obama’s speeches are a non-stop litany of depicting himself as a victim of Republicans. President Obama appears poised to take executive action that would legalize as many as 5 million illegal immigrant parents of U.S.-born children, a prospect that riles local immigration critics and adds a new dimension to concern about swelling immigrant populations in states like Massachusetts eyed as hosting sites for thousands of children who crossed the border unaccompanied. The Associated Press reported yesterday White House officials are laying the groundwork for an executive order that would automatically legalize roughly 5 million of an estimated 11 million people who have entered the country without legal authorization or overstayed their visas.

When The Times of Israel’s Avi Issacharoff first reported the content of John Kerry’s ceasefire proposal on Friday afternoon, I wondered if something had gotten lost in translation. It seemed inconceivable that the American secretary of state would have drafted an initiative that, as a priority, did not require the dismantling of Hamas’s rocket arsenal and network of tunnels dug under the Israeli border. Yet the reported text did not address these issues at all, nor call for the demilitarization of Gaza. It seemed inconceivable that the secretary’s initiative would specify the need to address Hamas’s demands for a lifting of
