Obama and race: why Eric
Holder´s words stirred such anger

Christian Science Monitor, by Peter Grier

Original Article

Posted By:NorthernDog, 7/15/2014 11:35:04 PM

Washington — Is racial animosity behind some political criticism of the Obama administration? That’s what Attorney General Eric Holder said on Sunday. The exact phrase he used was “racial animus,” which he said motivates some of his and Obama’s political opponents. (Snip) At the right-leaning "Hot Air!" Noah Rothman used even tougher language. The Obama administration long ago perfected the art of cultivating the sense among its defenders that lingering racism inspires most of its critics, according to Mr. Rothman. If the US was still so racially sensitive, why did it reelect an African-American president?

The anger is the fact that Holder is acting like a criminal and trying to hide behind his race.

Califano, who implemented the original rules under Nixon said years ago it was time for affirmative action to end. He was right. How, given an elected soi disant "black" president, can one claim prejudice? Self hating blacks? Look, if you want to be white, go to a plastic surgeon a la Michael Jackson. This wonderful, great and generous country has bent over backwards to help.

As a young ´un in the deep South in the ´60´s (visiting) I saw no prejudice. The opposite.

This is just populist agitation and Holder a race baiter. I´ve heard he was a decent judge. I guess O taints everyone who works for him/her.

When I was contemplating where I might want to practice after law school, I was struck by the description of one particular firm in Philadelphia with a thriving tax practice. A former partner warned me off, explaining that they brought lunch to your desk. After years of scratching together my own lunch, I thought that sounded pretty great so I asked what was so terrible about having your lunch brought to you. “They do it,” she said simply, “Because they don’t want you to leave.” She wasn’t kidding. It turns out that providing lunch and other perks at your desk

Vladimir Putin was today directly and personally threatened by the Islamic State because of his close ties to Syrian leader Bashar Hafez al-Assad. The chilling warning, delivered by a member of the terror group, puts the Kremlim leader on the same side as the West in holding back Muslim extremism. But at the same time, he remains at loggerheads with the U.S. and Europe in the worst crisis since the Cold War. In a video on Al-Arabiya TV channel, an ISIS rebel sits in the cockpit of a captured Russian-made fighter aircraft in the Tabak area of the Syrian province of Rakka. On TV, incompetence is funny, sometimes hilarious. Jackie Gleason made a career of it on the old “Honeymooners” show; Tom Haverford is absurdly incapable on “Parks and Recreation”; and Michael Scott brought the Peter Principle to new heights in “The Office.” But in real life, incompetence can be dangerous, even life-threatening (think a real-life Homer Simpson actually in charge of safety at a nuclear power plant). Watching the events unfold in Ferguson, Missouri, I can’t help thinking about the Holocaust and post-war Germany. As the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, I’ve spent years watching Germany wrestle with its dark past. It’s just one of many places that have made efforts to understand and compensate for a difficult history: For nearly three decades, countries as varied as South Africa, Rwanda, and the nations of Latin America and post-Communist Eastern Europe have been engaged in this process, often called “transitional justice.” That’s a broad term for the ways in which societies deal with the legacies of past injustice.
