Obama and race: why Eric
Holder´s words stirred such anger

Christian Science Monitor, by Peter Grier

Original Article

Washington — Is racial animosity behind some political criticism of the Obama administration? That’s what Attorney General Eric Holder said on Sunday. The exact phrase he used was “racial animus,” which he said motivates some of his and Obama’s political opponents. (Snip) At the right-leaning "Hot Air!" Noah Rothman used even tougher language. The Obama administration long ago perfected the art of cultivating the sense among its defenders that lingering racism inspires most of its critics, according to Mr. Rothman. If the US was still so racially sensitive, why did it reelect an African-American president?

We´re oh so tired of walking on eggshells. If you want equal treatment you have to be willing to be treated the same as everyone else - both good and bad.

The anger is the fact that Holder is acting like a criminal and trying to hide behind his race.

Califano, who implemented the original rules under Nixon said years ago it was time for affirmative action to end. He was right. How, given an elected soi disant "black" president, can one claim prejudice? Self hating blacks? Look, if you want to be white, go to a plastic surgeon a la Michael Jackson. This wonderful, great and generous country has bent over backwards to help.

As a young ´un in the deep South in the ´60´s (visiting) I saw no prejudice. The opposite.

This is just populist agitation and Holder a race baiter. I´ve heard he was a decent judge. I guess O taints everyone who works for him/her.

Add another Senate race to the tossup list: Colorado. A new Quinnipiac University poll shows Sen. Mark Udall, a Democrat, trailing Rep. Cory Gardner, a Republican, by 2 percentage points, 44-42 percent. By a 49-40 margin, voters say Udall does not deserve to be re-elected. Colorado has come into play only recently. President Barack Obama carried the state in 2012 by 5 percentage points, but the new survey showed state voters today disapprove of of the job he’s doing by a 58-39 percent margin. And voters give Gardner better marks on the economy, saying by a 46-35 percent margin the

WASHINGTON – Has President Barack Obama “checked out”? It’s one thing if hardened critics like Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly ask whether the Obama presidency is “imploding,” as she did last month , citing a string of foreign policy debacles and domestic scandals. Or if Republican lobbyist Ed Rogers says Obama “seems to have taken something like an early retirement,” as he did in his Washington Post blog earlier this month, finding that the president’s recent speeches reveal “a state of mind that suggests he has checked out.” It is another, however, if the chief U.S. commentator for the Financial Times,

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) has now controlled much of Iraq for over a month. The group has been prolific in its abuses even during this brief reign of cruelty: In recent weeks it´s crucified its opponents in Syria, executed scores of police officers in northern Iraq, threatened archaeological sites, and even destroyed hookah tobacco. This over-the-top brutality is a reflection of ISIS founder Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, once one of the world´s most notorious terrorists. After President Barack Obama breathlessly addressed four different foreign-policy issues during a 10-minute statement, he summed up the state of a crisis-filled world in one sentence. "We live in a complex world and at a challenging time," Obama said. Obama touched on the laundry list of global flashpoints situations during a statement from the White House on Wednesday — the disputed elections in Afghanistan, the negotiations on Iran´s nuclear program, the Israeli-Palestinian crisis, and, finally, the conflict in Ukraine. The most significant recent development in these situations was the announcement of new sanctions on Russia shortly before the president spoke. Obama described those
