New emergency alert system will give
Obama the power to flip a switch and
address the entire nation at once

Daily Mail [UK], by David Martosko

The Obama administration quietly announced on Tuesday that it intends to change the way Americans learn about natural disasters and other major emergencies during radio and TV broadcasts, giving the president the ability to flip a switch and address the entire nation at once. The Emergency Alert System, the latest version of a program first established in 1951, blasts out emergency messages in the event of local weather emergencies, but can also be used to warn Americans about terror attacks and major natural disasters. Besides all the problems we can foresee with this system (and I have nightmare visions of Obama using a HAL type of voice) what happened to the two-minute warning from the Cold War?

Did ya all know the President of the USA can push the button for nuclear war when he decides all by himself? Check it out for yourself. This is why I am so angry at clueless voters who are not responsible enough to do proper research before voting.

Obama is a nut job who would use this for evil as he does everything else he gets his hands on. He needs to either be in jail or in a psyche ward, but, surely not President. In the past few years we have learned a lot about out black friends and how and what they think. It seems that most have a cult mentality.

Western states defeated a Russian proposal on Friday to remove Syria´s alleged past nuclear activities from the agenda of meetings of the UN atomic agency, diplomats said. But in a vote that highlighted how polarizing the global political debate has become, China supported Russia´s initiative while only about half of the nations on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) board - 17 out of 35 - voted against. Western diplomats argued that Damascus should be kept under pressure to cooperate with the IAEA´s long-stalled inquiry, even though this has hardly advanced in the last three years as the country descended into bloodshed.

A Mexican ecologist has blown the whistle on the corruption, lies and incompetence of the wind industry - and on the massive environmental damage it causes in the name of saving the planet. Patricia Mora, a research professor in coastal ecology and fisheries science at the National Institute of Technology in Mexico, has been studying the impact of wind turbines in the Tehuantepec Isthmus in southern Mexico, an environmentally sensitive region which has the highest concentration of wind farms in Latin America. The turbines, she says in an interview with Truthout, have had a disastrous effect on local flora and

The failed Scottish vote to pull out from the United Kingdom stirred secessionist hopes for some in the United States, where almost a quarter of people are open to their states leaving the union, a new Reuters/Ipsos poll found. Some 23.9 percent of Americans polled from August 23 through September 16 said they strongly supported or tended to support the idea of their state breaking away, while 53.3 percent of the 8,952 respondents strongly opposed or tended to oppose the notion. The U.S. Senate unanimously adopted the United States-Israel Strategic Partnership Act on Thursday evening, reports JNS. The bipartisan bill, which declares Israel to be a “major strategic partner,” was authored by Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Roy Blunt (R-MO) and had 81 co-sponsors. Scotland has voted against independence. Here’s a quick look at what happens--and doesn’t happen--now: The Union stands. That is all. A political union that has lasted for 307 years continues. Scotland remains part of the United Kingdom. Border posts are not thrown up in the Cheviots. Britain’s nuclear-armed submarines remain based in Scotland. The pound, though it may wobble, does not tumble on currency markets. Billions of pounds invested in Scottish banks mostly stays put. As do the banks. The biggest constitutional crisis in British history does not happen. Alex Salmond has some tricky questions to answer.

Flashes of disagreement over how to fight the Islamic State are mounting between President Obama and U.S. military leaders, the latest sign of strain in what often has been an awkward and uneasy relationship. The security breach triggered a rare evacuation of much of the White House, with Secret Service officers drawing their guns as they rushed staffers and journalists out a side door.
