Obama pushing research

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is envisioning a time when cars will be able to talk with other cars or with America´s roads. He says such technology could prevent crashes, cut down on traffic and save gasoline. Obama on Tuesday will visit a federal highway research center in northern Virginia. The White House says he will highlight partnerships between the Transportation Department, auto-makers and the University of Michigan. The groups are developing and testing vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications technology. The trip is part of Obama´s push for Congress to shore up funding for highways and transportation. He says that´s key

Comments:
I´m glad Obama is focusing on the really important things as we are being illegally invaded and the Middle East burns. s/o If we lived in a normal world he would be removed from office.

I have no problem with cars "talking" to other cars, but my question has always been what happens with all the non-talking cars already on the road? Two cars "talking" to each other might stop a lot of crashes, but if one car "talks" and the other is mute, oh well. And if we started making all "talking" cars today it would take 20 years before all the mute ones were off the road.

Just wait until he pushes research on cars that will "listen" -- and report data to the gov´t. He´s probably already working on that. Meanwhile the Middle East is exploding and dead children´s bodies are found along the Rio Grande in search of permisos and freebies.

#6, exactly right. And, a car that listens will listen when someone reprograms their car to tell the other cars that it is an out-of-control semi, causing crashes and gridlock.

Smart cars are only "smart" if they don´t have to get data from outside sources.

"Article 1 of the U.S. Constitution states that Congress has the power to make laws governing naturalization. Given this, does President Obama have the unilateral power to legalize illegal aliens?" Like many on the right, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer is politically opposed to impeaching President Barack Obama. But on Tuesday, he declared that legally, the rumored White House order granting amnesty to as many as 6 million illegal immigrants “would be an impeachable offense” — and Obama’s talk of impeachment may be a way to preempt that pushback. Democratic leaders are welcoming efforts by the House GOP leadership to amend a minor 2008 immigration bill, because it could revive the now-dormant, business-backed comprehensive immigration reform push. The House’s proposed change to the 2008 bill is “an opening for us to have a conference on our comprehensive immigration reform,” said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. GOP leaders announced Tuesday they’re scheduling a Thursday vote on changes to the existing 2008 immigration law. For more than a month, President Barack Obama has blamed the law for his decision to allow more than 100,000 Central American migrants into the United States. The GOP’s base,

You can understand President Obama´s current political problems -- and how those problems could make things very tough for his party in this fall´s midterm election -- in a single word. And that word is "competence". Obama was elected in 2008 on a stated promise that he would restore competence to government. He pitched himself as the antidote to "Heck of a job, Brownie" and the Bush years, the person who would always put the most qualified candidate in every job in his Administration.
