Fox News Clueless About Guns
PJ Media, by Howard Nemerov

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 7/15/2014 11:09:07 AM

When you can’t trust an allegedly conservative media outlet to properly cover firearms, it’s time to realize that the entire Second Amendment fight is completely up to you. Starting out innocuously, Fox News reported the Army’s plans to update their pistol arsenal because their current side-arms are obsolete: Army officials say their inventory of more than 200,000 semi-automatic Beretta M9 and Sig Sauer M11 pistols has become outdated, worn out and needs to be replaced with an updated model that also offers more reliability and durability. True. Modern designs based upon Glock’s hammerless, striker-fire system offer many benefits. Springfield and Smith & Wesson

Comments:
I will defer to those with knowledge about the differences between guns. It sounds like Fox should have been better prepared before airing that segment.

Best pistol in knock-down power still is the 1873 Colt .45 Peacemaker Revolver.
Try one some time.

Firearms really aren´t complicated at all. Why news media outlets can´t poll their workers and see who knows about firearms and make them go-to subject matter experts for reporters and journalists who don´t know much about guns is mystifying.

Fox News is not conservative -- no matter what the rest of the MSM tries to paint them.

They have a couple of entertainment shows -- like Hannity and O´Reilly -- that are mostly conservative. But the network just tries to be fair and balanced.

Occasionally they blow it, which clearly is shown in this case.

But I will cut them some slack, because they are the ONLY network that even tries to show the conservative side on issues. The rest of the MSM is so blatantly lie-beral that Fox is about the only hope of getting real news most of the time...

not so sure about that ´real men´ carp...
that being said, i DO have a 1911.
i also have a S&W 19 (.357) that´ll take the
buttocks off a gnat at 50 yds,
and i would put my trust in either as a ´knockdown´ stopper.
its not so much a question of the weapon
as it is of the user.

while I prefer my Kimber Ultra Carry the advantage of the Glock (and similar striker fired designs) are a simpler manual-at-arms (integrated safety) and the ability to take abuse that a 1911 could not (bury in mud and sand pull it out and empty the magazine!)

full disclaimer; I carried a Glock 36 for a decade

A field instructor friend of mine were discussing the ".45 vs. 9mm" subject one day. I delivered the usual "but the .45 has more power (note I didn´t say "knock down", because I know better). I asked if many of our guys ragged on him about carrying a 9mm. He said, "Sure they do. But the difference between myself and them is that I consistently hit what I´m aiming at." Case closed.

President Obama returned to his vacation home at Martha’s Vineyard after briefly interrupting his vacation for two days of meetings in Washington, D.C. Obama met with his economic team Tuesday before leaving the White House at 4:22 pm to return to his vacation home. President Obama went back to his vacation on Martha’s Vineyard Tuesday evening following less than 48 hours in Washington, leaving people puzzled over why he came back in the first place. Obama’s two days in Washington were mostly quiet, and concluded with the president receiving his daily national security briefing in the morning, and joining Vice President Biden to huddle with members of his economic team in the afternoon. Administration officials have insisted for weeks that the president just wanted to return to the White House for a series of meetings, but the explanation was met with a healthy dose

Barack Obama’s presidency isn’t just shrinking, it’s losing support among its most critical point — its base. Less than two years ago, Barack Obama became the first Democratic president since FDR to win re-election with a popular-vote majority. Since then, his support has dropped dramatically — not just overall, but among important constituent groups. Comparing 2012 exit poll results with an Aug. 8 McClatchy-Marist nationwide poll shows how far Mr. Obama has fallen with various segments of the population. In 2012, Mr. Obama won among women 55 percent to 44 percent. Today, his approval rating among women is 41 percent, with
