Why Obama won´t take
strong action in border crisis

Washington Examiner [DC], by Byron York

Does President Obama want to solve the border crisis? It depends on what the meaning of "solve" is. The president says a majority of the tens of thousands of families and unaccompanied children flooding across the southwestern border will be returned to their home countries. But his actions suggest that won´t really happen. Most of Obama´s $3.7 billion border crisis spending request will go to the "care, feeding, and transportation costs of unaccompanied children and family groups," according to a statement to Congress by Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson. Even some of the costs that appear to be slated for the

We are sitting here on our hands witnessing the absolute destruction of our country and I don´t know what to do about it. So depressing. Where are the people we elected to defend us and our country? Shame on every last one of you for not standing up. Two or three are exempted and you know who they are.

He won´t take strong action because he designed this crisis and brought it to fruition. This is entirely intentional and as much a product of his hatred for the American people as his other policies are. I am getting quite weary of people working so hard to understand or explain him. He is a psychopathic narcissist, he fits the profile "perfectly", and is an extremely dangerous man in his position.

Great comment, #2. There seems to be a disconnect between us and our elected officials in that they seldom vote in representation of the constituency. Besides the normal channels of letters, phone calls, town hall meetings... Wait,I think I just answered my own question. Are we holding up our half of the responsibility? Are they? If the latter, how do they keep getting elected? If the former, shame on us.

There are too many potential new foreign born and socialist oriented future Democrat voters out there in the growing illegal alien population group for Obama to do anything effective to actually stop mass uncontrolled illegal immigration into the USA. That´s really what is is all about, what is shocking is that there are still stupid Republicans in the Congress who can´t figure all that out, and apparently won´t until they are pushed into political oblivion. Until the immigration laws are effectively enforced and depoliticized this situation will only get worse.

ISIS fighters say they captured Camp Speicher in Tikrit on Friday. The Iraqi Army says the vital outpost is under its control. In this web of propaganda, who´s telling the truth? Since Tikrit fell to ISIS forces in early June, recapturing the city—Saddam Hussein’s hometown—has been a centerpiece of the Iraqi Army’s campaign. But despite Baghdad’s efforts, pouring soldiers and resources into the battle there, the fighting has dragged on for weeks with only fleeting gains. At stake in Sunni-dominated Tirkit is the Iraqi government’s ability to defeat ISIS and retake the country. So far they have little to show

MELBOURNE, Fla. — I scream; you scream! Forget your diet for a day and bring on the ice cream. In a 1984 proclamation, President Ronald Reagan delighted future generations of Americans by designating July as National Ice Cream Month. He further declared the third Sunday of the month to be National Ice Cream Day and called for all people of the United States to observe the day with “appropriate ceremonies and activities.” We have our orders, friends. Consider it your patriotic duty to enjoy an ice cream cone on Sunday, July 20. In honor of this important occasion, here are

Nearly a year before President Obama declared a humanitarian crisis on the border, a team of experts arrived at the Fort Brown patrol station in Brownsville, Tex., and discovered a makeshift transportation depot for a deluge of foreign children. Thirty Border Patrol agents were assigned in August 2013 to drive the children to off-site showers, wash their clothes and make them sandwiches. As soon as those children were placed in temporary shelters, more arrived. An average of 66 were apprehended each day on the border and more than 24,000 cycled through Texas patrol stations in 2013. LONDON — ONE thing is certain: Whatever the outcome, this referendum campaign is changing Scotland irrevocably. Whether the Scots vote yes or no to independence on Sept. 18, their sense of what is possible for this small nation will have been transformed. Reporting on Scottish politics through wind and rain for almost 40 years, I have covered three referendums on self-government. The first, in 1979, offered a modest elected assembly: A slim majority of voters approved it, but the turnout fell short of the threshold required for the proposal to become law. The second, in 1997, proposed a restored Scottish Parliament

In a little-noticed action, the U.N. General Assembly on April 2, 2013, adopted by “majority vote” an Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) with the objective of regulating the international trade in conventional arms, from small arms to major military equipment. The treaty’s lofty objectives were to foster peace and security by limiting uncontrolled destabilizing arms transfer to areas of conflict. In particular, it was also meant to prevent countries that abuse human rights from acquiring arms. While the record of the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty discussions makes no mention of it, the genesis for regulating the unrestrained transfer of conventional arms to

On a trip to Ireland during the 1990s, I was struck by how little public discussion there was about “The Troubles.” Coming from New York, I expected the dispute between Catholic Ireland and Protestant Northern Ireland to be the topic of the day, every day. Back home, I asked an Irish-American friend why Ireland seemed less engaged — and enraged — than New York. He fairly spat out his answer: “That’s because if they talk about it, they’ll have to do something about it.” My friend’s disgust came to mind as I watched President Obama dance around Russian involvement in the downing

LOS ANGELES — Actor James Garner, whose whimsical style in the 1950s TV Western “Maverick” led to a stellar career in TV and films such as “The Rockford Files” and his Oscar-nominated “Murphy’s Romance,” has died, police said. He was 86. He was found dead of natural causes at his home in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles Saturday evening, Los Angeles police officer Alonzo Iniquez said early Sunday. Police responded to a call around 8 p.m. PDT and confirmed Garner’s identity from family members, Iniquez told The Associated Press. There was no immediate word on a more specific cause of death. Garner had suffered a stroke in May 2008, just weeks after his 80th birthday.

It is at times like these, when he is pushed kicking and screaming into the crucible, that Obama’s callowness shows. For his supporters, that jejune, jocular air has been a plus for almost six years. For the rest of us, it has served as a liability and an irritation. Yesterday, it became a wholesale embarrassment. On the perpetual-campaign trail, the pattern is familiar. Trotting up to the podium, the president fist-bumps the audience’s stragglers and smiles a toothy and humble grin at those who catch his eye.
